On, june16/17, 2012, driving, our 1990 k3500, dually truck, we had two tires blowout, inside duals, one on drivers, one onpassengers, rears. The whole tread, separated, from the cap. The tires did $5,000, damage, to our truck; we were lucky, we were not hurt. We filed a claim, with bfgoodwrich, tire manufacturer, as tires, were still under warranty, and only had 17,000 miles, on them, and were well taken care of, and properly, inflated.

I have a 2004 pontiac gto with 47k miles on it now. December 2006 i was driving home from an out of town trip 4 hours away from home. I noticed that the front end was riding kind of low. I pulled over and checked the tires for a puncture but i did not see one. So i pulled over to the first gas station to get air. The tires looked like there was enough tread so i thought nothing of it. When i go home i pulled into the driveway and cut the wheels as far to the left as possible. I went inside an did not pay attention to the tires. When i came back out i noticed both tires on the front of the car had worn down to the belts on the inside tread only. I could not see the wear by just looking at the outside of the tires. I was lucky i did not have a blow out. I went to the tire dealer early the next morning and got new tires put on the front. They only had about 10k miles on them. I thought the tires may be defective and the manager at the tire store said they were rubbing against the strut on the car. I figured if gm had meant these tires to go on this car than maybe it is just in need of an alignment, so i had that done. That was 8 months ago and i check the tread all the time looking for any pre-mature wear. Then i see the channel 5 cleveland story on the internet just looking for recall information on my car. I have had numerous problems lately. I learned that i am not the only one with this problem so i decided to complain about the defect. I wish gm would just tell everyone what a better tire size would be rather than risk bad publicity. I also have to replace my rear tires as they wear in the middle. I think this may be another problem. Updated 02-28-08updated

I own a 2004 pontiac gto. The cars strut rub has wore a angle on the outer edge of the tire and has caused a chunk of tire to peel back and expose the metal wires. I have seen other peoples cars that are way worse. They have metal wires a inch wide exposed all the way around the tire. And have caused some people i know to have blow outs.

Driving on interstate at 70 mph left rear tire tread separated and tire blew out.

B.f. Goodrich rugged trail t/a tires started cracking in the tread crown at 13,000 miles on all four tires with 9/32" of tread left. The cracks run longitudinally along the tread on both the outer and inner side of the tread. I have inspected other toyota tundras with the same tires that are also cracking. Now at 16,000 miles the tires are making a loud rumbling noise and the cracks are growing larger and longer. Both michelin and toyota were notified and both refused to take appropriate corrective action.

The bf goodrich rugged trail tire has numerous cracks in the sidewall. I had to replace one at 15k miles and now more cracks are showing up on the other tires at 30k miles.the tread life is good but the sidewalls are incredibly weak.

Bf goodrich radial long trail t/a tire dot ap72fd313914 with 2000 miles on it on a brand new nissan frontier crew cab short bed pickup truck has rubber coming off of the sidewall of the tire. Contact michelin about the problem was told to take it to a michelin dealer and have them write up a report to send to michelin. Can not get costco to write the report as they don't believe there is anything wrong with rubber coming off of the sidewall of the tire.

I purchased a used tire at bj tire shop in bryan, tx on july 16, 2009. The tire purchased (bf goodrich radial long trail t/a 265 70r) turned out to be defective with the tread separating from the rest of the tire, causing my vehicle to flip over causing $9000 in damages to my vehicle. We were very fortunate that no one got hurt or killed. I am afraid that this tire shop maybe selling more of these defective tires and could cause someone to be killed or cause more accidents. How can i make sure that more of these tires are not being sold. Bj's tire shop bobby duron - owner - anthony duron 1305 san jacinto bryan, texas 77803 thank you for your prompt attention and resolution of this matter.

Tire failure.this is the second tire failure on this vehicle and it has less than 7,000 miles.the tire shows cracks throughout the tire not just on the spot of failure.the other tire had the same visible cracks but the tire retailer claimed that tire failed due to road hazard.the vehicle is a 2006 nissan pathfinder 4x4.the tires in question are bf goodrich radial longtrail t/a, p265/70 r16 111tm+s.

I own a new nissan frontier sv 2013. With only 25,000 miles on the vehicle i was traveling down the highway then with a very short noticethe vehicle started a right hard turn, then the low tire pressure light came on. I pulled within a minute to the shoulder of the road got out of the vehicle smelled burning rubber and flat tire. Mind you these tires have been rotated no visible foreign objectoutside the tire. But the sidewall is toast. Bf goodrich radial long trail t/a, p265/70r16 had to be replaced with a new tire. The service people could'nt find any object imbedded inside or out of the tire.i saved the damaged/defective tire.

Traveling north on hwy 97 in north central oregon.felt a slight vibration, quickly checked mirrors and road surface...a few seconds later the driver's side rear tire exploded.we were traveling at 55 mph on a straight section of the highway, no traffic around in either direction.i eased the truck on to the right shoulder and stopped the vehicle.i changed the tire, cleaned the pieces of tire off the highway and continued to our home approx. 50 miles away.i contacted my insurance company (pemco in seattle, wa)i was told that bfgoodrich would be contacting me to inspect the tire, but as of april 24 i have not heard from them.this if the first tire failure with this truck.

Normal wear and tear on rear bfgoodrich tires.replacement tires are not available from the oem manufacturer.unique tire size for the rear tires on my car.only one company (bfgoodrich) makes this size.have not been available for some time.received violation for bald rear tires and no replacements are available.was told by manufacturer, they would not be available until june 2009, maybe ?????

I have a 2007 dodge p/u with bf goodrich rugged trail t/a lt265/70r17m/sc6972f casing # tires on my truck all 4 tires are dry rotting on the sidewalls. Whats your thoughts?

The tires for my six year old car are on back order for most of the year, every year!!! the last time they came off back order it only lasted for four days!!! this is the only brand that comes in my stock rear size so you can see my frustration. My car is almost not drivable and not safe because of their business practices.

In apr 04 i purchased new tires for my 2003 hyundai sonata.inside of thirty days, i had the right front tire go flat while driving on a major highway.i was able to get to the shoulder to change the flat.i went back to national tire & battery (ntb) where i had purchased the tires.they could not find an obvious cause for the tire failure.they replaced the tire, and three days later, the tire went flat again while travelling on the highway.i expirenced two more flat tires on the same wheel within the next two weeks, and then a few days later the left tire went flat.it was determined that the valve stem was being cut by the hubcap.ntb suggested that i go back to the dealership and have them investigate the situation.i went to pohanka in fredericksburg, va and the service technician said that the hubcap was making contact with the tire when there should be a small gap separating the two.the suggestion from the dealership was to change the tire or replace the rim.i went back to ntb, and they conferred with bf goodrich, the manufacturer of the tire, and they suggested that i go back to the stock tire that was on the car.i had also filed a claim with hyundai, and their suggestion was the same. My problem with all of this, is first, i selected a tire that was the proper size for my car (bf goodrich traction t/a 205/65r15).nowhere had it been indicated by hyundai or bfgoodrich that the selected tire was not suitable for my vehicle.secondly, my life and the life of others became endangered by this problem.thirdly, i am being forced to make tire selection, because neither hyundai, nor bf goodrich have provided limiting information on the tires that will properly function with my car. This is serious and needs immediated attention by someone, before there is loss of life or serious injury to someone because hyundai's hubcap for the sonata is not compatible with the tire size that it has indicated within the owner's manual and the label on the car.

Blow out and tread seperation on a bf goodrich radial t/a (p215/70sr14 96s m+s) at highway speeds. Approx 34,000 miles on the tire.while traveling 65 mph south on the sawgrass expressway (sunrise, fl) between mile marker 4 and 5, my right rear tire made a poping sound and went flat almost immediatly (3 to 4 seconds). I was able to get my vehicle safely to the side of the road. The outside of the tire showed about a 4 to 6 inch tread seperation. After aaa removed the tire, the inside of the tire showed almost complete tread seperation (it looked like the tire had exploded). The sidewalls appear to have failed as well. I had had the tires checked about two weeks prior after having a nail removed and patched on the left front. Inflation was normal. The temerature was about 68 degrees and i had been at highway speeds for about 20 minutes. The tires had about 34,000 miles of wear on them. They were regularly rotated and inspected. The vehicle is a 1995 ford areostar xlt. I was not able to keep the tire, but i was able to take 13 digital pictures of the front, back and tread of the tire. I will make them available at your request (cd-rom or electronicaly).

A routine visual check of my tires resulted in finding that the outer sidewall rubber is degraded on all four tires. The nature of the degradation is that the sidewall rubber is separating from the core. This is apparent around the entire circumference of the tires. The separations shows as if they were a "fine slice" through the rubber such that the rubber is easily lifted away from the core. There have been no normal (or otherwise) driving incidents or vandalism where such "fine slice" type degradation would have resulted.the "fine slices" appear to start from where the main tread is on the side of the tire and is in a radial shape towards the tire center. These slices range from 1/2" to 2" in length at this time. The tires have been replaced with new tires. The worst case tire has been retained and is in my possession. Digital pictures have been taken and are available. The tires are bf goodrich lt265/70r17, rugged trail t/a with dot code m3ah dr11 4005 load range "e".
