Purchased an avon 250/40r18 av72 tire for my motorcycle, and with less than 2000 miles, there is an open join splice going across tire. I have not ridden motorcycle since finding defect, for fear of having a blowout at highway speed and losing control of motorcycle. Avon needs to step up and recall these tires before someone dies or is severely injured.

Tire seperating at the splice. This is the second tire to do this. You do not have my tire size (300/vr18) listed on your auto complete form.this is my second complaint, not a duplicate complaint.

Tread splice splitting open.

My motorcycle avon cobra av72 rear tire, size 250/40r18 rear tire is separating and beginning to split across the width of the tire with only 2,000 miles of riding on it. The splits look to be where the lap seams are joined together. There is no doubt that continued use will result in a blow out.

Purchased a avon tire from drag specialties 300mm. After about 3500 miles the tire started to separate(open join) they said it was a warranty issue. Paid $80 to ship back and they gave me a $125 credit. Not happy.

I have an 07 big dog k-9 w/ av72 300/35vr18 cobra series w/ 2028 miles and 4/32 of tread left measured at the wear bar. The tire has began to split or seperate in several places.

Avon cobra tire open join splicethis will be the second tire that has shown splits in the thread spanning from the left and right sides of the tire.this defect has been caught while performing other maintenance and performing tire inspections.no harm to people or machinery has happened yet.

I had a avon cobra 300/35-18 tire start to separate with only 1800 miles on it.

I have a avon motorcycle tire, av72 300/35vr18 cobra series mounted on a 2007 big dog motorcycle, model bulldog. It has a dot code of 0609. Tire has split or separated on each side at about 2500 miles and is coming apart. Avon said it is a open joint splice failure. Numerous tires have the same issue on the big dog forum on the big dog motorcycles. Tire has bubbled in numerous areas from the separation. Attempts to get the tire to avon contacting[xxx] have gone in vain. I was told by him it was a manufacture defect and they would replace it but they have put me through ringer changing the story on getting the tire to them. Said it minor number of failures and not a concern to them. Now many people from the forum have the same issue. This is happening with the 250mm cobra series too. Inspection of the tire showed the failure at a rest stop. 10-15 people have inspected there tires on the bdm forum after i posted pics and have the same issue. Avon av72300/35/vr18 tire splitting.

Motorcycle tire avon cobra av72 3000/35 vr18(87v) this tire is seperating at the join slice after only 6500 miles. The same identical tire on a different bike is seperating after 2500 miles. A blow out if this tire fails could result in injury or death. This failure has been reported on many bikes with the same exact tire.

1 have an avon tire 300 av72 that has the tread separating down the center of the tire this is the second time this tire has done this to me with less than 3000 miles how many complaints will it take before someone gets killed with one of these tires !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently purchased an avon cobra motorcycle tire (300/35r18). In less than 2000 miles of normal riding conditions, the center of the tire is beginning to "erode" off the tire. I don't spin or burnout, yet the center of the tire now has a 2" to 3" wide section that appears to be vanishing and has actually left a groove in my tire. I don't feel safe riding this tire and have "grounded" my bike until i can get another tire. The avon venom tire i had before this got close to 10000 miles before a change was required. The rubber on the avon cobra feels soft and must be of different material/contruction than the previous avon venom tires. I feel this is a factory defect or flaw in the materials used to manufacture this tire. My options for this size tire are limited and my past experience has been positive with avon. I would like to see their quality back to where it once was with the venom tires.

I have an avon cobra 250/40/18 tire mounted on my 2007 big dog chopper with approximately 2000 miles on it and it has almost split from on side to the other.

Avon 300 mm tire seperating at the splice.this is my second tire to do this.

Had purchased at avon cobra 300 mm tire and at 1000 miles has a open join from manufacturing defect.
