Drive systems usa superlight sprockets.as a dealer we had several customers have theirs break on them.when your sprocket breaks your chains loses all drive and you're vehicle loses forward motion at a minimum. At a maximum it will cause you to crash and possible have a fatality.the inside area of the sprocket isn't connected leading up to it failing.below are some threads of people that had this happen.http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298390&highlight=drive+systemsscroll down to post #9 and you'll see a section of it broke off.this is their older x2 version sprocket.http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=354999&highlight=drive+systemson the top post notice the crack in the sprocket due to the sprocket flexing since the inner portion of the sprocket wasn't connected which allows it to flex.http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=410361this is the manufacturer commenting on our reports of failures.notice they admit to 1000 sold and 5-6 failures.that is 1 in 200 that can be life threatening. "ads developed a cnc machined steel rear sprocket called the ?x2? and some sizes were in fact machined too thin which in turn made the sprockets crack"they admit it can cause a crack and failure and will not issue a recall on these even though they know it's a safety issue.http://www.zx-10r.net/forum/showthread.php?t=96249post #9 is dead on.the sprocket flexed and instead of the sprocket cracking it broke the hub.all of these can and probably have in the past lead to wrecks if not deaths.this manufacturer needs to issue a recall on their original superlight steel sprockets and the x2.by their own admission they were not produced correctly and can fail.drivetrain failing on a motorcycle is life threatening!
