New models of car are using headlights that are incredibly bright, strong, white lights. While for the driver behind the wheel, these provide excellent vision of the roadway, the light intensity is such that they are blinding other drivers. I have 20/20 vision, am below 30 years old, and i find that i am regularly blinded by normal (not highbeam) headlights on new cars. If there is any angle to the roadway, the effect is even worse and i am left sightless for 3-6 seconds. I request the nhtsa launch an investigation and make recommendations requiring auto manufacturers to reduce the intensity of non-high beam headlights. This is a serious problem for other drivers, and i feel blessed and fortunate that it is i have avoided an accident after being regularly blinded by other cars.
The new lights on many new cars are to bright and seem to be even stronger that a high beam on a older car severe to the point of needs to look to the side of the road at a 90 degree angle , there is also issues with truck lights being on eye lever of small cars causing the same problem. The same needs to be covered in regards to shiny chrome or other shiny rear ends that act in a mirror like fashion as was popular by ford and chevy for some time.
I installed pig spotter 2 mirrors in place of my oem mirrors. I can not see anything with these mirrors and has almost cause several fatal accidents. The website does not give any warning that these mirrors will cause this symptom. I think all customers of st machine should be made aware of this threat! they do not say they are dot compliant so i guess it is my fault that i made this purchase.
