Driver side, rear child seat anchor was not installed correctly. The anchor was not attached to the frame. Our child's car seat would latch to it, but after 2 years of son riding in seat, we were moving the seat to other side to accommodate a 2nd seat and anchor came out with car seat. Volvo admitted manufacture mistake, but refused to certify safety of vehicle or buy vehicle back at blue book. Tracy faber at volvo cars usa was lead and detailed letter was faxed to her in january 2013. Anyone with a volvo needs to check security of child anchors. I sold car to a dealer under full disclosure as could not verify safety of child seat anchors and a vehicle without anchors was worthless to me. Took a large financial loss all based on volvo's mistake. Will never buy a volvo or ford product ever again base don this issue. We were original owners and will gladly share our experience with anyone that has had a similar experience!
Shortly after buying my 2003 volvo 70xc i read that black cars have a troubling higher rate of accidents.i had unfortunately purchased a black volvo.i noticed that there is no chrome anywhere on the body, including the rear.there are no side lights, no door lights (my 1993 has door lights when the door opens to alert other drivers that there is a door open), nothing to help with safety issues, yet they advertise as being such a safe car.having outside indicators on a black car is safety 101.i think that volvo should be made to add outside safety features to this model.
I have a 2000 v70 volvo that i have a problem removing the key from the ignition . I have a second key that i use to lock the car with .i can not remove the key . Is there a recall for this problem?
Purchased car in dec 2006.withinfew months, began to notice the car would lose speed on highway and drop to a speed anywhere between 60-80km/hr.black smoke rolled out exhaust.took car to dealership (where previous owners maintained car).several filters, seals, replaced.few months later the same problem continued.returned to dealership and told car needed catalytic converter.after being told the cost, dealership called back to say under emissions warranty.$1200 part was covered but i paid labor/other parts.dealer was asked on both occasions to complete service due.failed to complete these as requested.problems continued. This time the dealership told me that ets was gone causing the car to go into limp mode. Repairs done at a cost of all$2600.00.less than a year, same problem occurred.the oil light came on (though there was oil in the car).the car was towed two hours back home .when i took the car to adifferent independent garage they (like two others before) told me to volvo.went back to volvo but not before i had to pull over and be towed again.the engine began smoking, the car shook violently, the oil light (which volvo had less than two weeks before said was fine) came on...the report back from volvo is that the ets is gone again but also that the engine required replacing ($6000 job).this was more than two months ago and my car still sits at volvo waiting for resolve.i strongly believe the ongoing issues are directly related to the need for a new engine and that volvo was negligent in their responsibility (repeatedly) to make the necessary repairs.not only am i out the $20 000.00 to purchase the car only two years ago, i am out about $6000 for repairs already completed and am now being told it will be another $6000 to fix this problem.
Two years ago, i replaced my 1993 volvo v90 radiator with a new volvo radiator.it started leaking at the seam a month ago.the radiator is out of warranty since it is over 12 months.i went to the dealer to complain.they said that they see this particular problem with many volvos.i will eventually have to replace the radiator.for now it leaks only a little bit of water but eventually it could have a larger leak and thus overheat and destroy my car's engine.

My 1999 volvo s-70 received software upgrade code #155 in 2006 subject to recall and in august 2009 started to experience random throttle surging and loss of power ,especially on highway driving conditions(i-95), making vehicle unsafe to operate, along with intermittent ets light coming on. I am now told by dealer that cause is due to failure of electronic throttle module & not covered by 10 year or 200,000 mile warranty as "in-service" date on my vehicle was feb. 2009 and therefore past 10 year warranty period. Having researched your data base involving safety issues & accidents caused directly from this type of part failure, i am at a loss as to why a full recall has not been issued by volvo to replace all etm's on these model vehicles. I am now out-of-pocket $1200.00 for something that volvo has neglected to fix. Statistically, it appears that more of these etm's will fail outside of the volvo warranty period.

Leaving a parking lot and heard loud sound car wouldn't move. Volvo says the following is broken: lower control arm, cv axle, rotor and damaged rim. We had been parked and were attempting to leaving parking lot(.barely moving) could have been killed if this happened at higher speed. We have constantly spent money on this vehicle and i feel it is unsafe and that when the recalls were made there could have already been a fracture. This car is only driven to work and home on a regular basis. No rough roads. We have not caused any damage.this website does not allow proper selection under volvo and make to allow selection of the suspension/control arm / rotors / axle / tire rims / ball joint, all of which were damaged in this 4 mph accident.had this happened at 65 mph i have no doubt me and my family would not have survived.

Defective rear seatbelt (driver side) in 2000 volvo v70. Seatbelt binds up, cannot be pulled out and won't retract. This is the second occurrence for this car which has 100,000 miles on it.
We own a 2005 volvo xc90 and it has 54k miles on it. We heard a whining sound from the rear and took it to the dealer and they said the rear hub bearings need to be changed. We were not convinced and took it to our auto mechanic who works on our avalon, he looked at it and after spending 5hrs on it came to the conclusion that it was the rear differential. We went back to the volvo dealer and asked him to check again and said it may be the transmission. They came back and said yes it is the rear differential and it needs to be replaced. The price tag was for $5200. This seems to be the problem with all the xc90's. We are afraid to drive this car on the highway never knowing when our transmission will give way.
The sun visors in my car have failed multiple times, typically through breakage of the plastic pivot shaft.this makes it difficult to move the visor to the down position, and can prevent the driver from reducing glare when driving into the sun.this is a safety hazard issue.further, the shaft breakage usually causes wiring shorts that can discharge the battery, or at the very least render the mirror lights inoperative.i have had repairs made by the dealer, but the replacement parts have failed as, or even more quickly in some cases than the originals.

Driving a 2019 volvo xc90 at 2130 on august 8, 2019 i had an unexpected issue. I was using volvo pilot assist, was slowing to 45 mph using the cruise control.i was on i-40, west bound about two miles from the deer farm exit.i had the steering wheel yank hard left.this resulted in the vehicle impacting a lane closure pylon.upon review of the construction area, i observed the pylons inside the lane on my left and outside the lane on my right. Damage was mostly to the under side of the vehicle.car was towed to phoenix and repairs ran over $10,000. I am sure the vision system tried to follow the highway lane marker resulting in the impact. This is an unsafe feature of the volvo pilot assist.

Vehicle year: 2018 vehicle make: volvovehicle model: s90i was making a left turn at a busy intersection when my engine suddenly stopped, causing the loss of power, partially through the turn. The engine automatically restarted, but in a "reduced performance" mode (as indicated by the display console's warning light and symbol).in this mode i was barely able to clear the intersection.as a result of this engine failure, several other vehicles took evasive action to avoid colliding with my volvo this incident was reported to volvo.a software upgrade was performed. The vehicle is still with volvo pending further examination.approximately 2 months prior to this incident (november 2018), the vehicle computer malfunctioned while being operated at night, causing the loss of headlights and other components. This incident was repaired by volvo, by a software upgrade of the vehicle's computer system.
2010 volvo s80 t6: tire pressure monitor failure, where metal valve stem collar failed while driving, apparently due to corrosion, and tire deflated rapidly, destroying tire.i elected to replace all of the tire pressure monitor units at a cost of $115 each.

The software in my 1999 volvo s70 has failed, which has resulted in an unsafe condition.the car surges, braking is impacted, it runs irregularly.this is a continuous problem.the problem was caused when the dealer installed new software in a recall campaign.now, the dealer disavows any issue, claiming this was a coincidence that the software failed.i have contacted volvo with no resolution.
I have a 2000 v70 volvo that i have a problem removing the key from the ignition . I have a second key that i use to lock the car with .i can not remove the key . Is there a recall for this problem?
Purchased engine fan control module from aintier on 8/11 thru amazon. On 8/27 my wife was driving home and could smell burning from under hood. After stopping we discovered that the new engine fan control module had apparently shorted and melted the fan unit and cable back to the battery. Also melted wires around the proximity. This company needs to be pulled from selling aftermarket parts, which may cause car fires.here is the add on amazon. After i reported the problem, it now shows out of stock online..... Volvo 2016 xc 90in freezing weather, the four windows, the side mirrors and the roof freeze up such that you cannot open them or rotate the side mirrors back into their useful positions.this has happened repeatedly and continues even after the vehicle has been driven for over an hour and warmed up.it lead to me not being able to safely change lanes to the left, as i could not use the side mirror (i had in automatically rotate in when the car is turned off) and i could not roll down my window to look out. I have contacted the dealer and they are willing to look at it.the designs are bad and/or the motors are not powerful enough.

On june 10, 2010, hampton cove auto service (hcas) agreed to install four (4) new volvo manufactured brake rotors and pads on devenish & associates' 2005 volvo xc-90 with 106,550 miles.the end of august, 2010 the steering wheel started shaking when the brakes were applied so the car was returned hcas to be checked on monday night, september 6, 2010.on friday morning, september 10, 2010 the vehicle was picked up.hcas was told on wednesday, september 15, 2010 that the 2005 volvo xc-90 still shook when the brakes were applied. Hcas fraudulently misrepresented that volvo manufactured replacement brake rotors and pads were used on the job.in addition, i believe he did not even check the front brake pads and/or rotors during the september inspection or he would have known the wrong size rotors were installed!hcas had ample opportunity to make the necessary repairs and/or corrections but showed no interest in resolving this safety issue.as a result, the vehicle was taken to local volvo dealer's service department to have new volvo brake rotors and pads installed.at my request, the volvo dealer kept the brake rotors and pads installed by hcas.it turned out the brake rotors were not the correct size (smaller) for the vehicle nor were they volvo manufactured replacement brake rotors or brake pads.hcas made brake repairs on other consumer's volvo xc-90s but blamed the incorrect front rotor diameter on their wholesale distributor's catalog error.as a result, there are numerous other volvo xc-90 drivers around the united states with front rotors which are too small because this unknown wholesale distributor has supplied the incorrect parts!this is extremely dangerous for everyone!
Injector trouble causing major engine failure.

For no apparent visable reason, the vinyl on the drivers side door panel tore/split. I am in the habit of keeping the leather/vinyl cleaned and conditioned. I took the vehicle to twoupholsteryshopsfor and estimated repair, and was told by both that the tear was a manufacture defect (not enough fabric/fabric was stretched. Also advised to check for manufacture recall.
I have a 2004 volvo xc90. At approximately 52k miles, the xc90 1st generation transmission went bad and had to be replaced. Carlsen volvo (palo alto, ca) agreed to cover the cost of the transmission replacement. I was very pleased with the service and went on my way.in december 2010 at ~107,000k miles, the transmission started to hesitate & function erratically while driving. Within afew days, the car was parked at my home, and was unable to engage in forward or reverse. I towed the car in; it was diagnosed w/ internal transmission problem. The service rep said that she would talk to the factory rep regarding compensation. The dealer rep called volvo n.a. Rep, wyatt, who offered to pay for the parts (~$3,500) but i would have to pay for the labor(~$1,500).my husband countered that we would like the whole thing paid for since it was well known factory defect. When wyatt heard of our counter offer, he not only denied this, but simply stated that the deal was off the table, period. The next day, i reconsidered and asked the service rep to call wyatt again with our acceptance of the initial deal. Wyatt refused to put the deal back on the table and said we should pay for the repairs ourselves. Then called volvo customer care who documented the complete story, contacted wyatt via email to again. However, wyatt refused. Apparently because i have chosen in the past to have a personal mechanic service my car, change the oil and tires, etc. I am considered to be a "disloyal volvo customer" and this was a consideration in wyatt's decision not to pay for my transmission, even though it is a defective part. At this point, i had to have my car back, and told carlsen to replace the transmission.carlsen offered a 10% discount off the total price. A very kind gesture, however, i had to pay $4,600 out of pocket for another new transmission for this car.it's well documented that the 1st and 2nd generation transmissions for this model have been defective. I am disgusted. *ln

Engine heater block contact surface does not match correctly with the engine block as intended.,vehicle speed control, cold weather condition ice crystals can form at the throttle in the engine intake system, prevent throttle from returning to idle. Fuel system , the fuel tank may seep or leak fuel at the onto where the heat shield is attached. These are potential problems and need to be fixed no matter if a ticket is opened or not.

*ln
Defective rear seatbelt (driver side) in 2000 volvo v70. Seatbelt binds up, cannot be pulled out and won't retract. This is the second occurrence for this car which has 100,000 miles on it.
