Driving my 2005 chevrolet cobalt, the steering lockup and a alarm appear on dash said power steering failure, to correct this. Have to stop the car, turn off the engine and restart. Then anywhere from 5 to 15 minute the steering lockup again. I think this is a safe issue.the car has a electrical power pump and is not the only car at has is pump, chevrolet equinox has the same pump and also the same problem.
I purchased my vehicle on 06/1999 brand new with only 122 miles. Within a few months it didn't start. I called the dealer and advised them of the situation. They couldn't find out what was wrong with it? about two days later they told me that the gas tank had sugar in it??? since it was still under warranty they fixed it i had to pay $500.00. Which i feel was a discrepancy on their diagnosis?? on 06/00 the vehicle again would not start and this time they advised me that it was my battery? a few days later the car kept tugging and jerking. I drove it to the dealer again.their diagnosis this time was: engine cuts out under load; plug wires are defective;per tech bulletin#00032.that same day my sterio cd player gave out! it kept reading error code, and my carpet came loose from the passengers side?on 08/00 the car began to stall again,it was pulling back and forth,it left me stranded in the middle of the desert! the vehicle was taken to the nearest dealer ship.they figuref out that it was a wiring to motor broken code p0507, iac motor. On 09/00 my radio again went out;had to be sent out for repair? on 03/01 the vehicle began to shake and the check engine light turned on. I took it again to the dealer ship and they told me it was the intake air temp sensor.i declined the dealers service since i have lost confidence in their work performance.i took it to a local mechanic and he fixed the problems that it had; fuel injection, valve cover, serp v-belt, whl cylindes l/r, temp sensor @ a cost of $450.00. Now i have the same problem, the check engine light keeps turning on and the vehicle is stalling and shaking. I took it to the same local mechanic and he told me that in the system it came up as the air temp sensor. When he tested the sensor, it came up as working properly. He doesn't know what the problem is??? by the way my sterio and carpet are still defective but now i feel like, why complain?? do you have any suggestions on this matter?
July of 2002 (days before my vacation) my altima would not start. I was under an third party service agreement and was towed 25 miles from work to the selling dealership. It was determined that wires in/ around the fuel pump had been severely damaged and needed to be replaced, the damage to the wires caused excessive strain on the fuel pump, in turn the fuel pump also had failed. Not all of the repairs were covered components. Theexact same failure occurred again in october 2002, however the warranty had expired and all costs were now my responsibility in full. Now, may 2003 the exact failure again has occurred. Each failure has carried a minimum shop charge of approx $475.00 for parts and labor, not to mention the several times i have needed a tow.no failure codes are activated when the vehicle is hooked up to a diagnostics computer.each dealer has had a hard time troubleshooting the problem as the car usually is towed and will starts the next day. However after leaving the dealership the vehicle will fail again within 24 hours, resulting in another tow. Dealerships are not pleased that they have to get into the car and troubleshoot rather than using the diagnostic computer. *nlm

After all the problems with my 2001 cougar i wish i would have made a better choice in what vehicle i bought.the one recall that they had on the fuel pump i had to have that replaced, but i am not sure they really fixed it because it still hesitatedwhen i accelerating .the low coolant light on the dashwent on in the winter time when i first started thecar.after i driving a bit the light will just turn off.so how the am i suppose to know when there really was a coolant problem if the light just wenton. Then, the transmission went out at 94,000 miles with no signs of it going out.i was driving on the highway at 70 mph when i pressed on the gas pedal andnothing happened, like the car was in neutral.i tried different gears and nothing.i was able to coast to the shoulder of the road and had to call a tow truck to bring the car home and cost $300.00.i had to find a place to bring the car to get a new transmission which was at a ford dealership.they said it would take about 3 days to have it done, and turned out taking 2 weeks because they didn't know how to put the correct transmission in the box.they sent two wrong transmissions before ford finally got the correct transmission for the car to the shop.this cost me $3,235.00.transmissions failing at 94,000 mileswas ridiculous considering all proper maintenance was done when it was needed.therewere still other problems with thecar, but i could notfit all the words on this form. I did notbelieve anything was done at all,and customer service from fordwas terrible.the next vehicle i buy most definitely will not be a ford and probably not an american vehicle either.word of mouth is very powerfully and people that i talk to about cougar problems will never be buying a ford.if only ford would care a little and not be afraid to spend some money to make their customers a little more pleased with their purchase then maybe people wouldn't look down so much on ford products.
The contact owns a vehicle system aqua hot webasto dbw 2010 (na).the contact smelled diesel fuel inside the vehicle and then noticed fuel in the lower compartment.he stated that the screws on the metal plate were loose, which caused oil to shoot out.there is a safety improvement campaign (nhtsa campaign id number 02x003000); however, the manufacturer refused to make a replacement because the program had ended.the contact felt that the failure could result in a fire.the part number and location in the vehicle were unknown.updated 12/31/07 updated 12/31/07

Driving in the rain causes debris and water to get into the fuel tank which leads to a fueling problem. If you try to fuel the car at any speed of the gas pump, gasoline spits back at tremendous pressure. It covers the car, the fueling person and ford is not letting this secret out to the public. I talked to two mechanics at the dealership my car is in (the car has been there for a month, this time) and they said it's a factory defect caused by two canisters that are to keep rain and feul out. This is a dangerous condition!!!!!!!!!!! i've seen people with cigarettes in their hand while refueling. If this happens to them they are going to die because of the amout of fuel that spits back. I've filed for the lemon law because i don't want a car that does this because they are not addressing the issue only replacing the same part.
The interior of the vehicle fills with gasoline/fuel fumes every time the gas indicator reaches 1/4 of a tank. Toyota dealer replaced fuel injector however this did not resolve the issue.
Several events have occurred with my new 2009 ford flex, problems with power door locks; track control activated while vehicle was driven slow coming to a stop; strong burning odor in motor; seat belt alter sounded while seat belts were in use; all the light in vehicle shut off while vehicle was being driving for approx. 10 seconds; when going in reverse brakes made noise in the front and rear areas and while carwas being driving forward; car would automatically slow down while being driving; vehicle shut off while being driving; vehicle was taken for service. According to the car dealer everything was fixed after several days while driving the vehicle with my family as i was coming to a slow stop the back breaks locked causing an immediate short stop and a terrible smell of burningrubber came from the back tires. Took the car back to the dealer (02-25-09) they said they found no problems, i insisted in them rechecking the vehicle and as of today (02-26-09) they still have it. Waiting for results but i am extremely worried being my wife is the driver of this vehicle with our children, grandchildren and our sons baseball team mates.
My car would not go into reverse and lost full speed pressure on the highway, nearly causing a very bad accident.
