The contact owns a 2006 gulf stream sun voyager equipped with trimark interior door handles. The contact stated that the interior door handles failed to retract and caused the contact to be locked outside of the rv. A year prior, the vehicle experienced the same failure and a locksmith had to drill the door handle out. The contact purchased an updated trimark latching assembly and had it installed; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The serial number was unknown.

The contact owns a 2009 coachman mirada motor home equipped with a tri mark door lock. When attempting to exit the motor home, the locks failed to release the door. The contact climbed out the motor home and attempted to unlock the door, but it was not able to be opened. The dealer was able to release the door using more force than normal. The contact stated that the bolt that locked the door detached and fractured. The contact had to enlist help from maintenance. The contact informed the manufacturer of the tri mack lock and was sent a replacement lock. The serial number was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

My 2001 four winds 5000 motor home experienced a failure of the main door lock mechanism manufactured by trimark corporation on friday 6/1/18. The door lock is trimark model #060-0650. The failure mode resulted in the door to be locked shut from both the inside and outside of the rv. The internal component that failed is the "plunger" that is made from die-cast zinc, not steel. The plunger failed in a manner that made it extremely difficult to extract the plunger from the door striker plate, which in turn made it impossible to open door from either inside or outside the vehicle. This is an extremely unsafe and potentially hazardous situation. The only way i was able to get the door to open was to remove the face plate on the door lock mechanism from the inside of the vehicle and literally cut away with a dremel tool and drill motor enough material surrounding the broken plunger to be able to grab the plunger with a needle nose pliers and extract it from the door striker plate (see attached photos). It took over two hours to complete this effort to open the door. Note in the photos the design of the broken plunger, with the 1/2" thick end mated with the .095" thin end, all made out of zinc pot metal. Such an inferior design should have never been released into the marketplace, knowing full well the failure mode was for the door to be locked from both the inside and outside of the vehicle. It was pure negligence on the part of trimark corporation for the zinc version of the plunger to ever be designed and released for production. The company should be held accountable for the fact there are literally tens of thousands of rv on the road today with trimark model#060-0650 door locks that could fail in a mode that traps the rv occupants (and possibly their pets) inside their vehicles, or prevents them from entering their vehicles from the outside.

Trimark corp. Rventrance door latch assembly (#60-0650) failed resulting in the (only) door being unable to open. The pot metal slide that controls the latch broke.this required entering/exiting through thewindow which is about 6 feet above ground level.after disassembling the mechanism and removing moulding, etc. Could see the latch but could not push far enough to open.unlike regular doors, class a motorhomes have flanges around the doors that restrict access. Finally called an rv tech and he spent one hour attempting to open the door.finally was opened by literally ripping it out of the door causing damage to the door and frame. The company was contacted and, of course, blaming it on "operator error, lack of maintenance", etc.i have purchased the identical product since it is the only lock available that fits the openings but i am very concerned that this could occur again or to others with more serious consequences.
