I was pulling a 21 foot boat manufactured my maxum boats with my 1997 ford explorer.the boat is trailered on a maxum tandem trailer.the safety device on the boat trailer is a dico model 60 trailer brake assembly that is designed to engage the boat trailer brakes in the event that the boat and the towing vehicle are separated.in my case, i had a low speed separation between the boat and towing vehicle.i placed the boat into a storage garage and disconnected all cables and attachments with an oversight on my part of removing the trailer brake cable.when i pulled forward with the explorer, the cable was still attached and should have pulled the safety brake lever and engaged the safeties on the trailer as per design.instead, the cable snapped at the midpoint and did not engage the brake lever or system.this is alarming because the system would have certainly failed had this incident occurred at highway speeds. I contacted the manufacturer (titan wheel intl. Des moines, ia) and told them about the incident.their response was "that is strange, it should have worked" i think this is a serious threat to safety and could have been a serious event had it occurred at highway speeds.i think a closer look should be taken at the dico trailer brake system manufactured by titan wheel intl.
Front end bad noticed uneven front tire wear and replaced tires also replaced front rotors and brakes also shocks front end still has shaking problems. Ball joints are suspected due to the abnormal tire wear also had a 4 wheel allignment and balance done all said to be correct. Still having the same problem after spending alot of time and money.
Failed emergency brake system on diamond cargo trailer make:2017/dcrgsize: 8.5x20' double 5200 lbs axels. Vin# [xxx]purchased in georgia and took it on the road to boston,ma.on november 30th, 2016.brake away pin removed and vehicle brake does not engage the magnets to hold on the drums. Drove 1300 miles with a wmd on the road and put my selves and others in danger!
Tow bar base plate not attached correctly to car, car came loose from motorhome,company was paid to install a recall, but did not do the install.the car came loose from the motorhome and pulled the front of the car off.we were coming out of a gas station so we were not moving very fast.i fwe were going down the high way at 50 or 55 miles per hour this could have been a very bad accident. When the car is repaired i will have the tow system installed correctly.
I own a 2001 international flat bed tow truck,also referred to as a roll back or car carrier.i have had one incident with the the"l"arm bracket that retains the "l"arm for the wheel lift coming off my truck and another incident where the complete hydraulic control panel assembly that goes from one side of the truck to the opposite side, falling down.the equipment was installed by chevron carriers and wreckers,located at 7320 w.market st,mercer,pa,16137.their phone number is 724-981-7500 or 800-886-6400.i contacted chevron and notified them of the problem with the hydraulic control panel and asked for reimbursement for the repair to which i was refused.i deem these to be safety issues.both problems were caused by the lack of lock washers or spacer washers being installed under the heads of the bolts causing the bolts to loosen up on the " l" arm and the bolts that hold the hydraulic panel in place wore thru the plate underneath causing the bolts to fall through the elongated holes and falling down.it appears at this time that chevron has brushed off my verbal complaints to them.the serial number for reference to chevron for the tow equipment package is 10164820.i was advisedby chevron that the vehicle had a one year warranty on it and that they waould not be responsible for the repairs/reimbursement..to which i advised them that it was a manufacturers defect that caused both problems.thank you for your time in considering this matter.walterleuci ptl enterprise ptl towing.
