The contact owns a 2002 gmc 7000 series equipped with a 2002 terex xt60 n/a. The contact received nhtsa campaign number: 15v353000 (structure) under expansion nhtsa campaign number: 16v233000 (structure)for the lower boom aerial device possibly cracked due to improper material used. The manufacturer (terex) went to the contact's location and provided the inspection where it was determined that there was a crack within the upper boom, bulk head for hoses, and along weld edge and stiff plate of lower boom, however the material used was proper. The manufacturer contacted the contact and informed that the vehicle was fine to use. The contact however never received the paper work due to it was sent to the improper contact/company. In accordance to inspection of the vehicle for sale to the new owner they required a copy of the paperwork from the manufacturer to show the results of the inspection (a year and ten months later). Once the contact received the paperwork it showed pictures, detailed information of the vehicle and stated immediate repairs required. The contact reached out to the manufacturer and informed them of the original paperwork from the manufacturer and that themselves stated to have it replace and now the manufacturer declined to have the boom repair due to the material was correct and not in reference to the cracks. The vehicle was taken to dealer (terex services 4120 lewisburg rd, birmingham al, 35207) where they confirmed the cracks and that the boom needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage and hours was unknown.
