The contact owns a 1999 ford econo rv s-duty equipped with a samsung microwave, model mr5493g. The contact stated that the failure was identical to oven circuit recall number: 03e044400. A neighbor advised the contact that the rv was on fire. The contact observed that the microwave caused the fire and she extinguished it without notifying the fire department. The contact sustained an extensive burn on her leg, but did not seek medical attention. Samsung advised her that they had no parts to repair the microwave although it was damaged beyond repair. The manufacturer also stated that there were no authorized rv dealers in her area to replace the microwave. The microwave was the original equipment in the rv and it was mounted on the ceiling of the rv. The fire burned a hole in the ceiling and caused damage to the cabinets. The contact had not driven the rv since the fire occurred due to the safety risk and the hole in the ceiling. The serial and part numbers were unknown.

The microwave started by itself.after going to the inspect the microwave and unplugging it, it would not cut off.the samsung manufacturer stated that they would make contact, however no one has ever called back.

I have contacted samsung about nhtsa campaign number 03e044000. It took several calls to get them to agree to replace the unit. They offered $200. Trans 4119069438. The coach was smoke damaged. I am getting an estimate to remove the smoke damage. Samsung agreed to pay for the smoke damage, trans 5105693753. I was called, a voice mail left and sent an -email with instructions on how to obtain the $200. I was then called the next day as if they needed to get a hold of me urgently. Another voice mail was left. I was told i had 3 days to send in the paperwork sent in the e-mail or lose the opportunity to have the microwave recalled. The e-mail said i had 2 weeks. I need to wait for the smoke damage estimate, which should be at the 3 day mark. I feel samsung is trying to avoid paying for any damages or recall this microwave. I felt i needed to report the incident and samsung's poor handling of this recall. I would like to know what samsung's responsibility in this recall is. I have owned this vehicle for 3 years and i was never notified of the recall.

My microwave is model mr5493g and was manufactured in 2000, and is therefore included in the recall.as a result of not being informed, i awoke in my rv during the evening of may 13, 2005 to a strong smell of something burning.the microwave had turned itself on and was extremely hot on the inside.

Dt*: the contact stated a recall letter was received three weeks ago regarding the samsung microwave oven in the rv.samsung has been notified approximately five times.there is an nhtsa recall, #03v449000 on the vehicle regarding the samsung microwave oven. The parts needed to repair the vehicle are not available at the local dealership.the manufacturer confirmed the parts are not available.

Consumer was informed by the dealership thatmircowave wasn't on the recall list upon bringing it in to have the circuit short recall 03e04400 repairsperformed. Consumer then called the manufacturer, who indicated that it was on the recall list, and informed the consumer that they would send him the recall part.upon receiving the recall part consumer took the mircowave and the part to another dealership,whoinformed the consumer that the wrong part was sent.dealershipordered the correctpart .
