The samsung microwave model mrs5492 in my 2003 terry model 722f caught on fire while i was charging the battery. Causing extensive smoke and fire damage to my trailer. I bought this trailer new in 2003 and have never had a problem with it. After researching this on the web i came across the recall for this same issue at the nhtsa web sitecampaign number is 03e044000. I am very concerned about this issue, because i was never notified by fleetwood, baydos rv . The dealer who sold me the trailer, or samsung. This fire happened while the trailer was parked next to my house and if it had not went out on its own it could have burned my home and my neighbors home. I would like to know what recourse i have getting reimbursed for the issues i have had.updated 05/16/13

The contact owns a 2002 shasta phoenix travel trailer rv. The contact stated that the rv came equipped with a samsung microwave, model number mr549w01, and serial number 71pn803182n. The microwave was left unattended and caught on fire. The trailer cabin was filled with smoke and sustained minor damages. The contact stated that the failure was contributed to nhtsa campaign id number 03v373000 (equipment: recreational vehicle); however, he was not aware if the recall applied specifically to his vin. The contact attempted to contact the manufacturer and the telephone number listed on the recall notice was out of service.
The manufacturer and the service shop is wanting the consumer to remove the microwave unit and take the unit to the them. The consumer is unable to remove the unit and doesn't think it should be their responsible to pay to have the unit removed.
