The contact owns a 2002 wonderer rv.the vehicle has a samsung microwave, model mr5491g01.the contact stated that the microwave needs to be recalled.she received a recall notice for a microwave samsung mpde, model mr5491g01, serial number 71qr401003v.the microwave was replaced with a new microwave, model mr1032ubdc, serial number 7mawb04141x.currently, the replacement microwave is failing.it initially operated normally, but then blew up months later.the manufacturer stated that they had no knowledge of this model being recalled.the contact stated that this was the reason why the original microwave was recalled in the first place.nhtsa campaign id number 03e044000 (equipment:recreational vehicle) was referenced and states that an electrical short can occur and cause the oven to activate without pressing any key pads, which could result in excessive heat, smoke, or possibly a fire.the part number was unknown.
6-28-2008 discovered fire in our 2002 dutchmen lite travel trailer. Upon inspection i found the microwave oven running and was the source of the fire. 7-3-08 realized our microwave was the subject of nhtsa recall number03e044000. It is a samsung model# mr5491g manufactured february 2002. On7-3-08 i also called the samsung company and informed them of my misfortune.i've sent samsung pictures and estimates of damages per their request, as wellas removing the oven from the trailer and driving it 50 miles one way to theirnearest service center for repairs. They have since informed me that it is notrepairable. I'm very frustrated waiting on their claims department to respond. Weare missing our much cherished camping season and i don't know what steps totake short of hiring a lawyer, which isn't in my budget. Please help. What do i donext.
