I received a safety recall for an alternator i purchased from advanced auto. The letter said the alternator may develop an internal short circuit and cause a thermal event, could potentially cause a fire in my vehicle, even when the vehicle is off or not engaged. The letter then states if the alternator has been installed i should take it to a mechanic for inspection within 24 hors to determine if my model is defective.if determined defective remy power products po box 6068,edmond,ok 73083;3400 s. Kelly,edmond,ok 73013;800-877-3361 fax 405-419-4698 would replace it at no charge. When i called for instruction to get it inspected and or replaced they told me i would have to pay for the inspection and installation cost.they would ship the part and replace it at no cost,however i would have to pay for inspection and installation.this is not right if they sold a defective part that could endanger my family. I also called your office which said you do not handle this and to call back the manufacture.

I am complaining about their customer service....i called and recieved a replacement part, now they are telling me to pay the repair shop, and they will send money to me at a later date. I think this is very unfair to the consumer! i have bought and paid for this part and the service once! now i have to schedule a time with the reapir shop around the time i get my pay check!! so i have to drive in an unsafe vehicle until i can afford to pay for labor on it. How is that, and i quote their letter, taking "immediate arangements, without charge to you(consumer)?"
