Cpsc: ramps by reese: consumer stated the ramps failed while unloading the atv. *ssthe consumer stated he was using a pair of reese/highland arches aluminum center fold ramps to unload his atv and into his trailer, when suddenly the ramp failed. The top part of the ramp that rested on top of the trailer bed surface broke off and tore and snapped some of the aluminum on the ramp body itself. The consumer suffered minor injuries when the ramp failed and caused the atv to roll.

Equipment involved a keystone montana mountaineer 362rlq rv hitched to a reese 16k fifth wheel, part # 30047. Specs for hitch are 16,000 lb gross trailer wt., 4,000 pin wt. Rv is 11,605 lb. Dry weight, which was the condition of the rv at the time of the accident, with a pin wt. Of 2,055 lb. In pulling out of a campsite, speed 5 mph, on thurs., may 2, 2013, the hitch malfunctioned with all safety locks still in place, dropping the rv onto the truck bed causing significant damage to the truck (2013 chevy silverado 2500 hd) and damage to the rv. (vin number of truck is [xxx], vin number of rv is [xxx]). Three witnesses confirmed that the latch was closed and locked before the rv started moving. After the accident, the same three witnesses confirmed that the hitch was still closed and locked. Reese replaced the hitch head "out of good will" and admitted no failure.
