The automatic park brake system locked up and i could not shift into reverse.this has been an ongoing problem.,this cost me $1,400 to repair.
There is a hard transmission shiift between first and second gear in the automatic astro awd van (1995). Web investigations indicate that this is a well know problem that people are complaining about. This could lead to a u-joint weakening and eventual failure over time which could cause an accident by preventing power to be applied to the rear wheels. Potential damage to the transmission is also possible.
I noticed the drivers seat back kept relaesing when any type of weigt was put on it. The seat back gave away while driving. I had to replace the seat (x 2) i know the where the origional broken seat is located (if needed).
