This involves a norcold 1200 lrim refrigerator and a 2000 monaco diplomat 40 pbd motorcoach. When the refer was removed to conduct the recall work, it was found to have caught fire previously, and had signs of serious overheating, causing the case of the refrigerator to paralyze (aluminum foil coating, paper backing and foam insulation behind flue tube). Further a fire had occurred on the top of the flue tube, where fiberglass insulation from the coach had been in contact with the top of the flue tube, causing charring to the insulation and ceiling of the coach, with the early stages of paralysis setting in on the ceiling materials (foam and ozite carpet covering). Photos of everything were taken, and norcold denied culpability, stating that the cooling unit had not "been a leaker" and that maintenance had not been done, which is not completely true, although some maintenance items were not performed according to the owner's manual (removal of the refer from the coach and servicing the flue tube).my concerns are 1)overheating of the cooling unit/flue tube during normal ops without failure of the cooling unit (recall) and 2) incorrect installation of refer in cabinet/installation of insulation which led to contact with said materials and slow paralysis/ignition. This could be a condition in all of these coaches.

My fridge does not work at times; it will not turn on. I found a remedy on youtube, to take a magnet and go back and forth over the kit and you can hear a click and it works again. This has happened about four times. I contacted the recall site contacts on the internet and they are saying it isn't their problem to take it to a dealer for them to check it out. It has got to be the hts kit that is failing and i can?t get any assistance. Have you received an info on people having the same problem?

We have a norcold refrigerator model # 1200lrim with the cooling unit serial number 1475439. All the refrigerate has leaked out of the unit and the refrigerator has stopped working. When we called for repair the service person indicated that the unit had been leaking for quite some time. Not only where we not notified of the recall and possible fire hazard, because our unit in not with in the serial number range, but norcold is refusing to assist in the cost of repairs, even though our unit is showing the same signs and leakage that are indicated on the recalled units. I feel that norcold should be held responsible and should extend the list of recalled units to include later model numbers such as ours.at this time we are in the process of having parts order for repair and replacement. When contacted norcold offered no assistance other than to say it wasn't covered under the current recall and that they have no intention of expanding the list to include the serial number on our cooling unit.

I have received yet another recall notice for my norcold rv refrigerator.norcold model #1200lrim, refrigerator serial #819181fr, cooling unit serial # 1159994.this is the third recall in as many years, in fact, i just had recall repairs made on this unit in july 2010.i am now being told i must unplug and not use this unit due to this recall.as i have advised norcold today via telephone, unplugging and not using this unit is out of the question as i live full-time in my rv.i have been advised by norcold the repair parts on this unit are on back-order until december 20, 2010.i have also been advised to contact masterkraft rv in anaheim, ca to schedule a technician.i have called and left a message for masterkraft today.it is unacceptable to have three recalls in as many years from norcold and for norcold to expect me not to use the unit.norcold needs to correct this problem immediately and permanently.i do not want to have to continue to go through this and worry about the risk of fire on a continual basis.
