Cpsc document i1160178a. Norcold rv refrigerator. Consumer states refrigerator did have a recall ht sensor replacement put in. After which there were problems with the unit and had to have two service recalls that did not resolve the problem. The consumer stated when the refrigerator was removed, she discovered a burn mark on the side of the wall about "3" in diameter on the wood. (model# 1200lr)

Three year old refrigerator cooling unit leaked and now does not work. There was a previous recall on model 1200lr and 1200lrm that was built from dec. 1, 1996 to feb. 28, 1999. That was recently extended to include ones built from march 1, 1999 to feb. 28, 2001. I was told to shut it off and replace the cooling unit that it is a fire hazard. Only problem is mine is not included in the recall. The serial # on my frig. Matched but the serial # on the cooling unit did not match. They said even though it is only three years old that it was my problem and offered no assistance. My unit was built in 2003. I see that they have not solved this problem and there is great danger out there. This is very expensive to replace. We cannot afford to fix it. We have had it looked at by a repair shop and they said that there is no reason this should have broke being only three years old. I have a better warrenty on my frig. In my home.
The contact owns 2003 newmar mountainaire with a norcold refrigerator and received a recall letter. The contact stated that he called norcold and was told they would return his call but had not. He called back and was able to speak with the dealer but was not given a date when the part would arrive. Also the refrigerator was unplugged since he received the notice and the contact felt unsafe because of the potential fire hazard. The model number was 1200lr.
