Ball joint failure.........had to replace upper and lower ball joints in march 2005, and now in december 2007, i am having to replace upper ball joints again. Ball joints in 1997 dodge dakota are a defective design, and wear out too quickly.

Had upper ball joints replace on my truck on 12-12-2014, passed vermont inspection in june of 2015, took truck in for inspection on 6-10-2016, won't pass vermont inspection because of upper ball joints, about 2000 miles were put on truck since repairs in 2014.

Driving down the road and lower ball joint on right side of truck broke . Did not wreck. Wheel fell off of truck along with axle end, brake rotor and caliper. Spindle also broke .i have already replaced spindle and axle but have not yet put all back together because im trying to see if my truck should be in with this big recall on dakotas and durangos.

I purchased suspension parts from worldsuspesion.during installation i discovered a number of defective mounting bolts and within a week of installation a number of the tie-rod ends had their tie-rod ends protective boots fail.since all of the parts directly control vehicle steering and safety i feel it is important to submit a notification.this installation was performed by myself (two engineering degrees) and my son a certified mechanic and mechanical engineering student.while we are not automotive repair professionals we are representative of 'home mechanics' that these products are marketed towards. For the second time in a little over a year i will have had to replace the upper and lower ball joints as well i believe the upper control arm of a 1997 dodge dakota 4x4 for the excessive price of $500.00 i did not pay$21,000.00 for a vehicle like this.

I have a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4 ltd. It has 35,664 miles on it and both ball joints are bad, bad, bad.last night after picking up my two babies, i encountered a flat tire. Both front tires were cambering and now i have two flats as a result of the bad ball joints. As service members, we need to be at our jobs or be able to be on call. This is our only vehicle and now, it's not able to be driven due to the issue at hand. I know i am not the first to complain about this same problem and i'm ashamed of the chrysler corp for not looking into this as it is a safety concern.

Front end felt loose on the right side and when braking there was heavy clunking noise. Found a recall notice online and called my dealer. I was told to bring it in and have it checked. The dealer replaced the lower ball joints on both side stating that the right side was ready to break at any moment. The dealer also installed a heat shield between the front rotors and the ball joints. This was at approximately 32,000 miles. Steering felt tight again and the clunk noise was gone. Then at approximately 43,000 miles, the noise returned and again the steering felt loose on the right side. This time i bought an after market replacement part that is sold as a problem solver to replace the defective ball joint. These were installed by a non-dealer shop at approximately 45,000 miles. Noise and loose feeling in the steering has went away.
