I have a 2007 mercedes cls 550.my headrest have deployed for some reason on at least four separate occasions.when the headrest deploys it hits me in the back of the head.it has happened 2x while driving on the freeway and 2x while backing up.the dealership has repaired the headrest on at least four separate occasions.including keeping the vehicle for almost a month and half.that repair was just a few months ago.last week while driving on the fwy, the headrest deployed again for no reason and struck me in the back of the head.i believe this is a defect and a safety concern.in addition, my vehicle steering wheel started peeling a year ago.this paint comes off on my hands and can end up in my eyes, nose and mouth.i am concerned about the contents of the paint.mercedes refuses to replace my steering wheel or repair it.when the peeling first occurred the dealership ordered me a new steering wheel and said that it was a problem with some of the models.when i returned to the dealership to have the steering wheel installed, after the dealership had ordered a new one, they then said that i was out of warranty and mercedes refused to cover the cost.my vehicle was starmarked and i had an extended warranty to 100,000 miles.at the time of the peeling my vehicle had about 54,000 miles. I am not sure of the contents of the paint.however, i don't feel that the steering wheel should be peeling and the contents coming off on my hands.
During accident where ml 320 was broad sided on drivers door, air bags failed to deploy. Driver of other car which struck mercedes admitted to traveling at 35 mph.furthermore, auto crash notify system failed; these are standard safety features for this vehicle.
I was parking my vehicle (2003 mercedes e 320) between 2 cars in a parking lot. The vehicle was already on the parking spot (after making a right turn to enter the spot ... While the feet were on the break pedal) when there was a sudden un-intended acceleration that made the vehicle race off and hit the concrete wall about two feet in front of the vehicle. The vehicle sustained considerable damage to the front bumper, hood, head lights. The front doors were jammed causing the driver to use the passenger doors for exiting the vehicle. There was burning smell (but no smoke) in the car soon after the impact.the airbag did not deploy causing the driver hit the steering wheel. As a result the driver suffered severe neck, chest and abdominal pain.there was a recall on the braking system of this model in 2004. This as addressed by the dealer (rallye morors, roslyn, ny) .
I put my seat belt (s/b) on and started the ignition. A loud bang, i was jerked back into my seat by the s/b and was trapped.white smoke escaped where the s/b comes out of the frame. The srs light was illuminated.i turned the car off, unbuckled the s/b, which didn't retract back into the feed, got out of the car and waited for the smoke to dissipate. I got back into the car, put my s/b on, which was stuck and would not adjust.i called mb dealership to report incid and make apt for car to be chkd.8-30-07 i brought car into mb of reno, nv.mb said need to order parts, bring back once parts in.the other service advisor said that the same thing happened to another cust recently, but never heard of another occurrence. I asked my service advisor, joseph castleberry, to invest problem, let me know. He would get back to me. I picked up the car after repairs, joe didn't know why malfunction occurred, but cost was $1079.82.i told him this is a safety issue and i wanted this investigated. He said it was a fluke incident, and i stressed, i wanted answers.mb of reno inv copy reads as ?inspect for complaint, found the drivers etr has gone off without cause. Prepare and perform dtc quick test, found only code for drivers etr, check mb hist of complaint, as per hist rec they replaced both the srs control modules and the etr, recommend that both the srs control unit and the etr be replaced as per tac history of complaint, r&r left side b pillar paneling, replaced drivers s/b, r&r sensor console, replaced srs control unit, check electrical wires for shorts, wiring is ok and intact, performed version coding of srs control unit, cleared all codes and retest, retest ok?. On 9-17-07 ben from mb of na said they couldn't do anything to investigate the issue because the car was repaired, an investigation should have been done before the car was repaired. Copy of the invoice avail upon req. Veh: 98 mer ml320 mil:97508

Mercedez benz dealer at long beach, california send a mechanic technician and he work on the vehicle trying to start the vehicle so i can drive to the dealer and he could not start the vehicle, so they towed the vehicle away to the dealer, they been figuring out what was the reason for the air bag to blew up, ujp today date june 11, 2008 they said that it's my problem and i should pay for the damage, and i believe that this is a manufacturing malfunctions. 1994 mercedes e320 was involved in the electrical wiring harness failure - insulation was cracking and peeling off and shorted out - this caused the throttle body and traction control to short out the main computer of the car.i have read other complaints from other mercedes owners telling me that mercedes does not have a recall.this cost me over $3,000 dollars in repairs and usage loss.now, i am still chasing more electrical problems from the wiring harness defects.
The telematics device in my 2006 mb s500 spontaneously malfunctioned. No known events lead up to the failure, total loss of information and safety uplink, total loss of new $300 mbrace subscription value, as of 21 mar 2011, nothing done to correct other than call to dealer. Was a prior recall done that would have impacted the vehicle telematics unit or the associated vehicle electrical system?
Thank you for your responses but we are very disappointed and very frustrated with your response.during these 2 year things have gone wrong. We did contact mercedes-benz headquarters..market too many times and explain about us car.but they are ignore now we are in the process of launching a lawsuit to replace my 04 ml 350 on the basis of safety.the engine failed 18 times on the road (in addition to all kinds of other problems). We are in california usa--2004 mercedes benz ml350 - list problems and much time spent in the service department-- 2004 mercedes benz ml350 is the worst automobile i have ever purchased. It has spent half of its life in the service department. Here is a of my problems within the past 28 months:1.the engine of carshakes and makes noise2. The engine light is turns on and after that is shut down. Again the car is automatic.it turns off3.the brake warning light turns on and of intermittently- with out reason4.diagnosehave problem5.ets failed 6.brake pads, front, include front rotors replaced 7.stalled twice 8.passenger side window failed 9.clicking noise under the vehicle 10.gps not working 11.clicking noise under the vehicle (second time) 12.brake pads, front & rear, include front & rear rotors (second time in less than 8k miles) 13.rear wiper washer container leaking 14.navigation system lcd screen flickering 15.bad batteryall of these above make us terrible- the car bring at home only 27 month but have to stay in the shop for 18x times we didcontact a mb market for request about the recall and replace for us but they denied it. Now i have go to looking somebody help.
I am an owner of a 2001 slk 320.i have had chronic problems with headlamps and brake lamps going out , bulbs melting in lamps on brakes as well as headlamps.in the beginning these repairs were paid under manuf. Warranty.however, i am paying for replacement bulbs, most recently a headlamp problem i will have to have replaced at a cost close to $600. Today i received a recall from mercedes notice for the brake lamp problem. I question that the same may be true of headlights.my condition of brake and headlights being replaced as well as a brake lamp replaced in the past, was so chronic, i ordered and paid out of pocket for electrical testing on my car where nothing wrong was discovered.my point here is that i feel in addition to the brake light problem addressed by mercedes in my recall # 2006-080005, i believe it would be remiss for safety purposes to not announce that i believe the same condition applies to my slk headlights.also, for such problems on the brake lights that existed in the past, what recourse do i have in monies i laid out of pocket, pertaining to the chronic brake light problem in my slk 320. Thank you.
The battery of the vehicle gets drained out due to the components of the memory seats being shorted.
I was driving on a highway when car just stopped. I had to get out of the car and push it for it to start again. After 500 it stopped again and had to be towed away.
I owned 2002 mercedesmodel s430. About 6 months ago i noticed my car dropped lower to the tires as i started, then i turn it off and back on for the car to function normally.now, for past 2 weeks the problem has come back and acted very often.i also talked to few friends and they said other vehicles with same model are experiencing same problem.is this a recall from mercedes to correct the problem yet.i like to know a little bit more info on this problem and how to correct it.
I've just paid $5000.00 to have my mercedes c320 fixed for the winter @ mercedes benz of morristown, 2 days later i had no brake fluid, i stopped to get gas after driving 2hrs, when i restarted the car it would not turn over, i got a jump start.last night the same thing happened. I called mercedes this morning, as of this time i am still waiting for a reply.
1992 mercedes benz 300sethe issue is from the results of a dryrotted engine wiring harness. During the time period this car was manufactured mercedes benz used a biodegratable material for the wire coverings. This material through the years could not withstand the heat produced by the engine under the hood. This is a problem that mercedes know about and has since changed the wiring harness cover material a few year later. All their mechanics know this and it is well documented on every mercedes forum that i have found. I am talking about thousands of occurrences recorded. The redesigned harness is a $600.00 item which is why mercedes tends to look the other way and refuses to accept this as a recall item. This item must be addressed because if gone unattended it becomes a serious fire hazard which is also well documented and was mentioned by my mechanic. He also stated that most dealerships will not work on these cars unless the engine harness is replaced first. This is because the car is impossible to diagnosis if the wiring is not in a good working condition due to the fact that false signals are sent to their diagnostic equipment.my mechanic also provided me with additional information directly from his mercedes benz preliminary inspection & adjustment procedures manual. It is retyped and quoted exactly as the mercedes benz documentation states.preliminary inspection & documentationvisual inspection1) visually inspect all electrical wiring, looking for chafted, stretched, cut or pinched wiring. Ensure electrical connectors fit tightly and are not corroded. Check for loose or defective electrical connections on starter motor. Ensure all vacuum hoses are properly?now i ask you; if this is not known by mercedes benz to be an issue then why is it the very first thing in their preliminary inspection that they have all of their trained mechanics look for?
I was driving at 40-45 mph when i noticed an orange glow under the passenger side mirror. Within a few seconds the light turned yellow, and suddenly i noticed flames are shooting out of the side mirror along with thick black smoke. I immediately turned into a gas station and put off the fire with water hose. I was afraid of the fire to get inside the car.
Both internal seat control modules have electrical fault. Test code 8e3l-k8nnq. Found 1.66 amp of draw (out of spec. Range) amp drop when disconnected: passenger side to: .1114 and driver side: 0.59 milliamps. 1/13 alarm sounds and battery dies. Technician replaces battery, but warns likely to happen again-many cases. 1/16 same problem. Car taken to other m-b dealership. Diagnosed as above. Replaced both modules 1/25. Dealership had trouble getting part due to unusually high volume for this repair. 18 modules gone or on reservein one week in santa monica alone. Mercedes corporate office unresponsive. Carmax denies known fault, but reports customer with same complaint previous week.
I have a 2000 mercedes e430.instrument cluster shows scrambled time display and outside temperature display.the cluster was replaced by mercedes under warranty for the same problem in 2003 and the same exact problem re-appeared again in 2006 on the new cluster.
Instrument cluster not working, blacked out.
I noticed that the vehicles turn signals started to act funny. They would signal slowly and then all of a sudden start signaling quickly. I also noticed that the dash lighting system would sometimes be very bright then suddenly darken or shut off all together. A month ago i started the car and it shut off. I started it again and took off. It almost caused an accident as it turned of on me at about 40 miles an hr. I was unable to steer the vehicle at all and thank god, for other drivers on the road were able to avoid hitting me and my kids. I need to repair the vehicle, but i have lost trust in mercedes so i don't know whether to fix it or junk it.
I am the owner of a c-230 4 door sedan vin#[xxx].i have an issue that i was looking into addressing when another major issue just arose that i need help from the manufacturer who i have contacted but not received a response.1) last week i decided to quote insurance and make a change to allstate.once they put in the vin# major issues came.the price was way different then what i was paying with mercury.to make this short, after talking to my broker at mercury, it turns out my 4 door has the vin# of a 2 door coupe.i called beverly hills ltd where i purchased the car new.they did nothing. I have the original temp registration from the day i purchased the car new, and the dealer typed coupe not four door and on the lease agreement.i did not notice this.here are my issues.the coupe is more expensive on insurance - i have been overpaying since 2/2003. 2nd, am i paying a fair lease rate if the vin# is for another body style.this car has been nothing but nightmare to deal with since the day i purchased it. It has been serviced 8 times, transmission work, 2 computers, camshaft, new radio, idle issues, brake system failed, and so on.it's a complete lemon. It is going in next week again.i have only 21,000 on the car, and drive my 2nd car more a 79 300sd mercedes as it is more reliable then this new car.i need somewhere, someone to go to, any information would be greatly appreciated.thanks so much, [xxx] - phone or emailupdated 07/18/2012 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
Ln late august, the "check engine" light was illuminated on the dashboard of a 1999 mercedes benzml430.car was delivered to the dealer to remedy this problem.after several weeks and tests, mercedes benz decided to replace transmission.owner incurred cost of labor.in november, driver was parking car and removed key from ignition while transmission was in drive.key released in error causing car to roll into a ravine and hit a tree.mercedes has done nothing to correct the failure of this important safety feature.in fact, they state that the keys(3)are worn down and no longer provide the safety by limiting the release of the key unless the car is in park mode.car was delivered to mercedes benz for investigation. After a two week investigation, mercedes claims the keys(3) were worn out and that is why this important safety feature failed.mercedes is taking no responsibility for correcting the problem or fixing the car.the result of this "defect" could involve several fatalities.if a driver can remove the key from the ignition when the transmission is not in park, thisfeature can not be claimed as safe.if mercedes claims this is a key issue, then additional safety features should be in place to alert the consumer to this problem.while submitting this complaint, it was necessary to fill in the field of "headlight lenses."writer was not given any options and so inputted this information in order to proceed.as you can see the headlight lens have nothing to do with the problem.according to mercedes this is an ignition/transmission problem.
1995 mercedes benz e320; my car has been hesitating at idle, worst when a/c is on, when accelerating, making turns, backfires constantly which frightens me that my car could catch fire and injure the kids in the car and cause an accident on the road. My mechanic says the engine wiring harness should be replaced first before he could troubleshoot any problems and this would cost me $1000-1600 for the part plus labor. I feel that this is too much to pay for a bunch of wires and i feel that this is not right mercedes benz cars aren't suppose to deteriorate like this, it should last forever. When having to pay more than 50k dollars for a car, these things aren't suppose to happen. Pls. Approve this important recall.
I have a 1992 300ce mercedes benz. The wiring harness is bad and i'm told that the plastic was made of what has been outlawed. This material may cause a fire. What if anything can i do to remedy this without having to pay an arm an leg, as far as the mercedes company is concerned? help!!!!!!!!!!! please note there has been no accident but in order to proceed i had to put in a date. Thank you.
Shortly after purchasing my 1997 e320in 2003 i took the car in to report an odd acceleration and deceleration while driving in cruise control. Dealer at newport beach ca told me that cruise control is not designed to drive in hills, all of oc is full of hills. They did nothing to repair problem, although car was still under warranty. In addition i reported the automatic control opener to not work in temp above 80 degrees. I'm not sure if the problem is related.in 2005 the sensor notice came on to report electronic problem. I took it to the mb in austin texas.the service rep told me it would cost $400 to fix. Since we were on an extremely tight budget i asked him if it went un-repaired if i was worsening a problem or endangering my self or my family if i contiued to drive it that way. He said it would be ok to drive. Now a few months later around january (cold weather) the car started to idle into vibrations and a strong gas scent fills the car.not trusting the mb i took my car to firestone, they told me it needed a serious tune up...which surprised me because i did one less than a year ago...i'm not sure who to trust and now i'm very worried about the harness wiring and the susceptibility to spontaneous fires.
Oil consumption problem. Oil light keeps coming on between 200-600 miles of driving. Transmission is failing and engine needs to be replaced. Very poor.
I own a c 280 (96) [xxx] car started consuming more gas than normal, was harder to start, started missing and drove sluggish.i replaced the spark plugs and cables.but it got worse, and then quit, as if it was out of time.i send it to an imported car service shop in dalton, ga.they told me that it is a common problem on this mercedes benz benz.the wiring harness underhood (insulation on the wiring) crumbled to pieces, like dust and shorted relays and all the car.i paid over $2600.00 to have it repaired.i still have the old harness as evidencethat it should be a recall because y could lead to a worse problem, like fire.the mechanic told me that he has repaired several c-280 with the same problem and that mercedes benz has been notified and they will not do anything.an expensive car as it is should be built better than this.(the wiring harness itself is worth $1600.00 or more. My mercedes wagon stalled and would not re-start in bumper-to-bumper freeway traffic while commuting to work. My technician traced it to a disintegrating engine wire-harnesses and stated i was lucky it did not start either a fire, or "fried"/shorted-out the engine computers while driving at speed. Replaced at over $600 parts & labor.
The engine / fuel injection wiring harness of my 1992 mercedes-benz 500 sel was replaced once and now has cracked insulation throughout, i might add, this new harness is "supposed" to be the new and improved upgraded version. It does have a different part number than the original. The wires are all exposed because of the cracked insulation. Please note: this is not a rare wire, all of them are cracked and damaged and exposed!!! because of the outside rubber casing which holds all of the wires, i would have never known of this problem until it would have been tooo late. Luckily, my mechanic, ed at eds mbz in glendale california, (818) 247-2369 was knowledgeable enough to immediately cut the outside casing to look inside. I am still amazed a car company making an 80,000 to 100,000 dollar car would have the audacity to make one of the most crucial electrical parts the wiring harness so bad.wire harnesses are supposed to last the lifetime of the car- its a safety issue!!!it is beginning to short out with the risk of causing dangerous engine malfunction and even fire inside my engine compartment. It is also one of the major causes for computer damage. Ed showed me 12 harnesses he "recently" replaced. All of them the same. I spoke with mbz usa- forget it- i thought i was speaking with ford regarding exploding gas tanks on opinto's. This problem is well known with any good reliable mbz mechanic. Since i was blown off by mbz america, i called around- 5 mbz dealers service managers were very aware of the problem and all 10 independent mechanics were very aware and explained all the dangers and expense. It is extremely dangerous.i have read many reports of other mercedes-benz cars of the same age range having the exact same defect. This is a known issue with mercedes that they refuse to recall or correct!!!please, please, please do something before it is tooooo late!.
On c240 2004 faulty fss alerts causing engine & converter damagemisleading fss alert that engine need additional 2 qts of oilwhen added 2 qts fss alert came out that need to drain 1 qt and possible engine damage.

The cam sensors on the mercedes m271 engine leak oil which spreads to other components via the wire harnesses connected to cam sensors. Oil contamination will damage other electrical components (namely the ecu and exhaust oxygen sensors) if the cam sensors and wire harnesses are not replaced. A new cam sensor and wire harness has been designed as the corrective action. The defective cam sensor and wire harness were used on the previous engine design (m111). There is a technical service bulletin for m111 engine but not the m271 engine. Mercedes refuses to recall this defective design on the m271 engine causing owners to pay for the $900 preventative maintenance. Without this repair the ecu (part cost $2000) and oxygen sensors (qty 2 @ $238 ea) will be eventually damaged and will need to be removed and replaced.within the past week, paid more than $ 2,400.00 to replace 2 cam sensors, 2 oxygen sensors, and wiring harness.repair shop says that this is a defect that mb has known about for years.
My 1999 mercesdes benz engine stalled while i am driving. If i wait for a while , the engine would start again. After reading some complaints in the mbworld.org forum, i think that my car has problem with the crankshaft position sensor (cps). This problem is very dangerous as my car engine can be stalled while i am driving, especially on freeway. Do you know if this problem ha been considered to be recalled? thanks.
Engine runs rough, idles like it is going to die, car surges forward while moving or stopped, dash warning lights on/off, rough gear shifting or won't shift, electrical problems, gas tank/gauge problems, lock/windows powered when car off, dash lighting goes in/out, headlight/brake lights burn out quickly, electrical, starting car issues. This car has been in/out of the dealership for almost 2 years. I bought it used with a "certified pre owned warranty", codes go off and they simply reset them. There has been anew converter, window repair, work on gas tank, spark plugs, and numerous other "attempts". Now the warranty is gone and my problems have worsened. I drive it out of the dealership and the warning lights come right back on. They are using process of elimination and i'm paying for all the guess work! the oil monitor is always off, get the oil changed and it gives me service is needed codes with -oil reading? help.

Intalled a steering drag link on a 1987 mercedes 300sdl. Item is moog part number me-do-6066. Nuts stripped on installation. Afraid to install with original nuts as threaded portions may strip. Loss of this link while the car is in motion will cause total loss of steering and control. Part can be installed, but not properly or safely. A do it your selfer could suffer dire consequences. Photo of parts available upon request. Replacement part has been ordered.
The inside rear view mirror in my 2003 mercedes-benz slk 230 (r170 model) is an electro chromic self-dimming mirror that has no manual backup. The mirror contained a fluid which leaked out causing the self-dimming mirror to fail to provide dimming against rear approaching headlights resulting in the driver to either be blinded or to have to turn the mirror away which greatly eliminates rear view capability in the interior. There are numerous documented cases of these mirrors failing in various makes and models as a result of usually from the internal fluid leaking. I contacted the oem mirror maker, and they refused to return our phone call/messages. I recently read on the maintenance blogs that magna donnelly were replacing but, stopped all of sudden.i have never had a vehicle that has ever experienced such a problem with the rear view mirror.
Vehicle jerks forward when coming to a stop.hood was not secure and sensor never notified driver.seat stopped working.bluetooth is faulty.the jerking occurs every week, at least every other day dealer cannot duplicate problem so no repairs done.bluetooth not fixed.

I have a 2007 r350 81,000 ac blow motor went out. Had car serviced check engine light came on within 100 miles.took car back to repair shop he said car reads it running too rich. Reset switch check engine light came back o within 10 miles again. Car seems to be pulling once i've slowed down as if it wants to go faster.my codes read p21 88. Help!!!
My passenger side headlight was changed by a mercedes benz tech, and after he changed light i have been unable to see the road on passenger side. I have taken my car in 4 times.tech at another location who has been working on mercedes for 41 years confirmed problem. He took car home andreported back toservice manager he couldn't see road either and this was a hazard. I have called mercedes benz customer service because car has been taken in 4 times for same problem. I guess i be taking car back again. I picked up car again today and problemhas not been fixed. I also had air condition problems 1 month after purchasing the car. It took several month and several trips before they fixed problem. They said it was a bad hose and could not repair but had to patch it.
On turning the key in the ignition with foot on brake pedal, car started, immediately red-lined, and started shaking as the rpm limiter kicked in. The brake pedal was depressed, not the accelerator. Removed foot from brake and visually confirmed correct foot placement beforereapplying pressure to the brake pedal. During removal of foot from brake pedal to visually confirm, car continued to redline. Turned engine off via key within 5-10 seconds of occurrence.verified that floor mat was not between the floor and the accelerator.engine restarted without incident. Mentioned the occurrence to local mb dealership but no codes were found when car was taken in for routine service afew months later.it is possible that the accelerator was actuated slightly via the all weather mb floormats that had recently been installed in car migrating forward and getting wedged between the floor of the car and the bottom edge of the accelerator.the included alligator clips had not been installed with the floor mats.however, with the engine on and car in park, manually wedging the floor mat between the floor and the pedal did not duplicate the engine redlining.regardless, the clips were promptly installed after this occurrence and the floor mat has not migrated forward under the gas pedal since. It is unclear if the unintended redlining on starting the engine was due to the pressure of the floor mat between the floor and the accelerator or some other issue. Either way, the unintended redlining has not recurred since.note: the web interface insists on offering "headlight lens" as the only option under equipment.the above has nothing to do with the headlight lens.
I have a 1999 mercedes benz e320 that has required repairs x3 on the same rear window regulator & rivet on the driver's side on june 1, 2001, november 3, 2003 and june 10, 2005. This window is rarely opened. I would appreciate evaluation of this problem. The warranty on the parts are for 1 year only. There must be defective parts being used for this to be occuring within 18 months after installation of new parts.thanks.
Transfer case failure. Front drive and passenger side wheels makes noise when making a turn from stop position or slow speed. Did some research and it turns out that this is a regular occurancy for the 1998-1999 ml320.
Several service bulletins on mercedes-benz e350's. To include but not limited to knocking/rumbling bull.#10016629. Dealer says that are not responsible for this. Please assist.
2008 mercedes benz c300 right rear lighting failures in the brake and/or turn signals of my vehicle. The failure can cause the lights to dim and or cause the lights to not illuminate at all.
Oncoming headlights on newer cars are blindingly bright. Additionally, the brighter headlights in ones side view mirror are totally distracting. Finally, it would seem newer cars are intended to auto-dim, but they do not do so early enough.
It seems that this car is plague with a whole bunch of problems. 1-a/c blower dies and you are force to spend money on add ons like the regulator, a mounting plate. Etc before you know you need to pay close to $700.00. 2- window regulators, 3- motor mounts, 4-front suspensions, 5-harmonic balancer.6- plastic head light lensesmercedes has become nothing but a glorigied chrysler, buy american pay the price.
1986 mercedes benz 560sl. The driver side sun visor broke and fail to my face while i was driving, almost causing an accident. This is a very common problem to 560sl owner. This is due to the worn out / defect of the plastic holder that hold the visor.
My 2003 mercedes benz e320, inwhich the fuel filters are located underneath the rear seat, had a powerful gasoline order inside the vehicle.the benz repair shop stated it was a hairline fracture in the fuel filter and it was leaking gas.they replaced the filters, but i've seen them replace the same type filters in 2008 models.i think this is a defective product and a safety hazard.if me or my spouse had been a smoker, or caused a spark, we could've potentially caused a fatal explosion.i think this needs to be investigated.
My wife was driving our mercedes 2001 s430 and the front suspension dropped all of a sudden on a back road in the middle of nowhere. First it had dropped so low it prevented steering and was difficult to put vehicle on the shoulder without damaging car. Then we had three towing companies which would not tow the vehicle because of liability to front end damage. I changed the relay through research and was able to get it up enough to be towed. Take into consideration this was taken four days to execute. Then i have never been so happy to have a vehicle towed in my life. Then by that time i new the strut tops have been an ongoing issue with the w220 mb. I had conveyed that to the newmarket, ontario. Canada dealership. But they still had to do diagnostics and for that fee they cameup with replacing the front top struts. Which they have a new rebuild kit for. The total so far 760.00 then they call me back and they could not adjust the level and had to diagnose that. Another charge and ended up with a corroded wire. Out the door boxing day 1290.00. Two weeks later same problem. They had told me it was common for the suspension to drop in cold weather. And it has been a problem on and off since then. I am afraid to take this in but i am even more afraid to have this happen at 120km hr.
I have 2002 mercedes ml-500 and my climate control does not works and blowing cooled air all the time even when i selected to full hot. I did buy mercedes shop manual and as i was reading the service bulletins issued by mercedes manufacturer i found that the factory is aware of this issue thea/c system sometimes does not produce heat or cooled air. Mercedes conformed that certain control units part numbers have low voltage problems which causes this and the want the car owner to replace the a/c control unit with the updated part number 163 829 57 89 at the car owner expense because as they say it is not safety issue? well can that be when you don't have heat in the very cold / snow weather as we have here in boston? as far as i am concern this is a safety issue when it comes to heating the windshield in the bad winter states.please let me know if my complain makes correct.
I have a 1995 s320 benz . On end of september the engine light comes onand i changed the air mass flow sensor than a month later the a/c sometimes work and other times not i changed the vacuum hoses that goes to ac solenoid plus the egr hose, and one wire that goes to the a/c relay.now the enginelight again goes on and i called the dealer and ask if any recall on 1995 s320 they say no.yet there is over 150 complained to your department.

I purchased a mercedes ml 430 2001 in may 2001.since then a part called a stop light switch has gone out 6 times. The following are dates and mileage on vehicle:5/10/05 40,561 miles, 9/28/06 47,767 miles, 8/14/07 51,801 miles, 4/10/08 55,151 miles, 3/17/09 61,105 miles, and 1/28/10 65,465 miles. On august 14, 2007 with this stop light switch going out i could not disengage the vehicle out of cruise control.by the grace of god i was able to pump the brakes until it disengaged before almost running into a vehicle in front of me at 60 mph.this part is defective and will one day kill or seriously injure people.
This is a design failure on head light systems.many manufacturers are putting in head lights that are blinding other drivers.super bright white lights are unnecessary, distracting, and if the drivers of these vehicles leave their high beams on it becomes literally impossible to see anything on the road.just had a car on the highway today that bathed my vehicle and all my mirrors in the light of ten thousand suns from behind making it [xxx] near impossible to see anything else, backwards or forwards.i feebly attempted to block my mirror with my hand to avoid having my retinas burned out.my vehicle is equipped with a tinted back window and self-dimming mirrors and these are of no effect against the intensity of these head lights.i really can't imagine how these things have been allowed to exist this long.it really is a danger on the road.something needs to be done about this because it's getting worse, with much more frequent occurrences.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Traveling at highway speeds of 70 mph up a steep grade on california interstate 5 on the section of the highway known as "the grape vine" elevation of 3000-4000 feet, headed north keeping pace with heavy traffic in the fast lane (far left hand side of the freeway highway ), in the afternoon of 2/16/04 at 2 pm with cruise control on the car ( 1999 merz, class hd,, body type ut[xxx]) automatically shifted to a lower gear sending the rpms from 2500 to 3000-4000, this normal automatic action caused the car to stop all forward motion reducing both car speed and rpms to zeroin the fast lane, the impact a "full engine shut down" a highly dangerous action in fast moving traffic with a short hazardous signaling notice.the car in july of 2003 performed in the same manner in the same section of "the grape vine" headed south in the fast lane with a different driver, not using cruise control the vehicle stopped all forward motion.shortly arriving in palm springs california on the same day, the car again performed in the same malfunction. The car was taken to the palm springs mercedes dealership. The problem identified and presumably resolved.the problem is not resolved as stated for the purpose of this letter. It has occurred for the third time.this is a critical life threatening malfunction that demands immediate rectification. They are using process of elimination and i'm paying for all the guess work! the oil monitor is always off, get the oil changed and it gives me service is needed codes with -oil reading? help.
Many newer cars are equipped with blinding, blue-green, headlights that are a safety hazard and should be prohibited.there are several problems.first, when seen from any angle, these headlights are highly distracting, in that they draw ones eyes from the road ahead and on either side; the reason that they are distracting isthat they are of a notably different color and are much brighter than the traditional incandescent lights.second, when viewed from any angle, the light "flares" about ones eyes, forming spikes that radiate outwards from the light itself, thereby obscuring one's view of things above, below and on either side of the light itself.third, when viewed from the opposite direction, the lights are often blinding, depending on whether the road is flat or hilly, the result being to obscure almost everything ahead, about the same as traditional incandescent lights on "high"beam.fourth, when viewed from the opposite direction on roadways that are not perfectly level, these headlights alternate rapidly, back and forth, like a strobe light, between "standard" and "blinding," a result of the fact (which i assume) that the lights are very tightly focused, and the problem being that the "focused" light under these conditions is repeatedly focused on the eyes of the driver heading in the opposite direction.the most hazardous are items three and four, but item four is particularly hazardous because it combines the worst of all of the others - both distraction and blindingness.clearly, headlights need to be designed to light the way ahead; but there are competing goals, which include not blinding other drivers.like everything else in this world, what is good for one person must be weighed against its negative impacts on others.that is where government has a key responsibility; to assess the benefits and burdens and arrive at a compromise that optimally suits everyone's needs best.
I have a 2000 mercedes e430.instrument cluster shows scrambled time display and outside temperature display.the cluster was replaced by mercedes under warranty for the same problem in 2003 and the same exact problem re-appeared again in 2006 on the new cluster.
1995 mercedes c-220 decinigrating wiring harnest. I bought this car and i had it for 1 week and now it is in the shop with $1700 in repair fees. I was told that these repairs should have been a recall done by mercedes as it is a common issue that is very dangerous and could have potentionally been detramental.
The heated seat in my 2003 mercedes ml320 burned through my leather seats and leavinga small mark on my left thigh. My injury healed; however, there is still a burnt mark on my seat. After explaining it to mercedes and my extended warranty service, both decided to help me stating it was a cosmetic defect.now i'm stuck with a driver side seat that has 3 cm hole in it along with heated seats that mercedes suggest that i should never turn on, even though i paid extra for it.
Brake lights burn out frequently on my 1999 mercedes slk 230.light sockets burn with discoloration and plastic melts at the socket and circuit board on the rear of the taillight.it is very difficult to remove the burned socket from the fixture.the intent of the design is to use finger pressure to twist the socket out.due to the melting it requires the use of a wrench that then damages the socket sometimes to an unusable condition requiring replacement at owner cost. Dash "bulb out" warning light is too dim to notice and hidden from view behind the steering wheel.bulb out warning light illuminates sometimes when there are no lights burned out so this makes it useless to determine what bulb is actually out if any.my car was in the mercedes shop for 30 days and returned to me with the comment ''condition could not be duplicated'' in regards to the taillight.all they had to do is remove it to see the burnt condition but they chose to ignore the problem.i have had to purchase a handful of sockets to keep on hand as they need replacing every month or so.i even purchased a new set of taillights, the entire housing and new sockets thinking this would solve the problem but they burned out a month later.i have turned the taillight over to nhtsa.
Crack in the engine wiring harness, with this problem is possible to make fire in the engine zone.

Thank you.
My concern and complaint are the new halogen head lights that are on all new model cars and suvs.they are and will continue to be a hazard to all drivers of on coming traffic in two ways ----they are blinding and leave the drive with the sane effect as having a camera flash going off in your face close up and not being able to see afterwards...... And with a stream of traffic one after the other even during the day you are so compromised that you have to turn your head a away from the on coming traffic which is unsafe and leaves you vulnerable.the second concern i have in the same area is that i believe time will prove that these lights will add to eye disorders long term. I believe that cataracts and other types of eye complaints will become more common as these lights are introduced across the board.i don't see any reason for such strong lights when our streets are more well light now than ever in history not only by street lights but by business signs and parking lot lights and the headlights of the past were sufficient before all of that.i think their introduction is nothing more than more is better, bigger, stronger, faster mentality has gone crazy and we will pay the price physically in the end......please inform me of the need and logic to this insane addition to the modern car of today and who researched this piece of equipment for safety before allowing the car manufactures of today to install and market such a dangerous addition to our vehicle.it is my belief that the elderly are going have more accidents because of them, day and night do to the effects temporary blindness and younger drives will have a significant increase and earlier signs of eye problems than there parents not to mention their own elevated accident records.....i would hope that you would investigate and begin to keep records associated with this issue and please respond to me.
Instrument cluster not working, blacked out.
The airmatic system on my mercedes benz s-500 has failed for a second time.the car-body dropped and is resting on the tires, making it impossible to operate the vehicle.
While driving on the express way at 65 miles per hour, the bap/esp display light came on an did not allow me to press my brakes.when i attempted a second time to press my brakes the vehicle accelerated and it was inevitable that i would have hit the vehicle directly in front of me if i had not immediately placed the vehicle in neutral and drove off to the shoulder of the road where i hit a guard rail and large pieces of debris and damaged my vehicle.the second incident was where i stopped for gas on my way to work and the vehicles engine error light came on and the vehicle became inoperable and i was not able to start the vehicle.i missed a day of work and had to have my vehicle towed to the dealership.
Do you know if this problem ha been considered to be recalled? thanks.
The battery of the vehicle gets drained out due to the components of the memory seats being shorted.
On c240 2004 faulty fss alerts causing engine & converter damagemisleading fss alert that engine need additional 2 qts of oilwhen added 2 qts fss alert came out that need to drain 1 qt and possible engine damage.
Vehile is an automatic.vehicle "jerks" hard when lightly applying gas.this can be compared to starting in first gear (manual transmission) when not fully depressing the correct combination of gas and clutch.this happens when traveling from a dead stop at a traffic light or pulling into a parking space.have had several near misses in hitting other vehicles.
Xenon headlights are dangerously blinding.
Thank you.
Short circuit in shifter and control module led toreplacement ofelectronic shifter module. Total cost was $853. This car had just over 50,000 miles, and seemed odd that this part would have to be replaced. A friend of mine had same model and hers went out as well. Appeared to be problem with this model/make of car.
I have 2008 mercedes s550. The car suddenly started making noise in the front and i called dealership. They told me the brakes are gone and even rotors are damaged. I had no indication all this time i was driving that the car had no brakes as no brakelights came on. Till the time i went to dealership no indication came as sensors are not working. Is it not unsafe to be driving on the highway 60 to 70 miles /hr with no break sensors . I called merc and the top two people robyn and tim in escalation dept tell me at first they are picking up the. Repair and then totally turned their backs and years and said to me it is not a safety issue where the cars breaks are completely gone to the point the rotors are damaged and there is mo indication. With a 100k car which has all these fancy features but brakes are not imo.
On july 14 03 i was driving on the san mateo bridge when all of a sudden i completely lost my ability to turn the steering wheel.i was getting ready to turn off the loop to transfer to the i0i and i had to slow down because the steering was very difficult to turn, luckily with all my strength i was able to turn it and not go over the ramp.i called mercedes foster city and they accommodated me and informed of a power steering clamp defect that can affect the power steering pump (too late for me)..they fixed the problem.on march 19 i experienced the same thing lost of ability to steer luckily i was only on the streets and residential area.i had my husband struggle with the steering and bring it to the plesanton mbusa.they charge me 11134.74 to repair and not covered under warranty.how does a power steering fail so often and so soon?
I purchased both l & r outer tie rod ends (karlyn ind inc.) from autohauz az recently for my wife's w210 mercedes e320.i noticed while installing the parts that the threaded end of the centre tie rod, when assembled to the replacement part was sloppy and appearedto be far from a compatible specification. It was as if one was metric thread and the other was imperial. It did snug with the locking nut...which is not the purpose of that nut however, and i did reluctantly install them.....they haven't even lasted a week before one has failed at the ball joint. The sale of such inferior quality merchandise put's at risk innocent consumers. If the ball joint was to fail or the tie rod seperate at highway speeds there would be an event thst could easily leak to a loss of life. Part was purchased from autohaus az on invoice #176606 and manufactured by karylyn industries inc, southfields, ny 10975.
93 300se purchased in 1999; transmission replaced in month and half; 11/22/04 transmission stopped pulling on highway halfway between memphis and st louis.when we turned the car off, it would not start again.lights, radio, horn, etcworked, but car would not say anything.read article on internet regarding defective b2 piston and 't' seal in 93 and earlier transmissions (722.3,.4,.5).we have 722.502.mercedes (1-800 for merc) doesn't know anything about it.mercedes trans should last longer than five years. We had the car towed to sikeston, mo. And then we towed it back to our shop in earle, arkansas, where it is now.we are trying to get info regarding this piston and t seal before doing anything.
On may 26, 2006, my mercedes benz 1999 300d lost all power during routine operation. The car stalled while in motionin regular traffic, and was required to be towed to a mercedes benz dealership. I was notified that thereason for the failure wasa defective crankshaft position sensor. Part number 003-153-74-28. The part was replaced. When the car was returned, it was driven no more than 12 miles when the exact same condition re-occurred while the car was in motion in traffic. The car was towed again and repaired on june 2, 2006 ata mercedes benz dealership, and this time the reason given for the failure was a broken pre-filter and main fuel filter. Parts number 601-092-01-05, 601-090-16-52, and 601 997-01-48.please investigate this matter promptly, as there appears to be a condition which can cause the loss of all power while the car is in motion.
2010 mercedes c300 indoor handle broke and mercedes would not cover the repair or replacement even the car is under certified pre-owned warranty. The service department indicated that the handle is a trim device and not a mechanical issue. Unfortunately, i see this a safety issue where someone could be trapped inside and not able to open the door outside in the event of emergency incident. Anyway, i have searched through internet and found this type of failure was very common. Surprisingly, someone even filed a complaint to nhtsa back in 2012 and have not heard of any recall. Hope this issue is re-opened and rectified beforethis turn to fatality.
Headlight glare and brightness has gotten progressively worse over the years on new oem vehicles. A following vehicle to mine illuminates my cars interior and rear view mirror. Oncoming vehicles cause glare and temporarily blinds my vision of the road. Most annoying is when a following vehicle has these headlight systems that have the light jump up and down illuminating my interior intermittently and rear view mirror, this on a flat highway setting when the vehicle following should be level riding on smooth pavement, very distracting. Tail//brake lights have also gotten overly bright and when in traffic cause me discomfort. These bright lights absolutely diminish night vision capabilities.

1986 mercedes benz 560sl. The driver side sun visor broke and fail to my face while i was driving, almost causing an accident. This is a very common problem to 560sl owner. This is due to the worn out / defect of the plastic holder that hold the visor.
When i visited my sister in the midwest, she gave me an e-320 model mercedes to drive, and later offered the car for my keeping, which served as an extra car, and had not been driven much, as evident from the year and mileage comparison with other same year models.my sister expected me to pay maintenance costs, and i didnt mind the extra costs associated with such a high end car. I didnt even mind paying a few thousand a few years ago, to change both batteries, the alternator and the overhead dome, when the mechanic could not detect the origin of a battery drain. However, what transpired recently is an entirely different story. A few months ago, i noticed a smell of gasoline as i stepped into the garage, adjacent to the kitchen. After backing the car out of the garage, i repeatedly looked for any possible fluid leaks on the garage floor, but never found any. Therefore, i dismissed the matter as a non-emergency. I remember thinking that after all, with such a top brand car as mercedes, the company would send all related recall notices. However, we never received any such recall notice about the defective gasoline tank.when the car came up for inspection and renewal tags, i took the car to carx, and not to my usual mercedes mechanic. I asked the mechanic to check for any possible gas leaks, since the car had to be on the lift as part of the inspection. To the mechanics surprise and mine, he found a puddle of gasoline in the tray beneath the engine. With a clear case of a gas leak, the car obviously would not pass the inspection unless rectified. However, we both expected the fix to be a worn out

Newer model vehicles use led lights for daytime running lamps but at night drivers don't switch to the "headlight" function.this enables the rear marker lights for other drivers to see the vehicle.why doesn't the drl enable the rear marker lights full time?then if drivers fail to engage the headlight function the rear marker lights are still on at night.
I purchased the car with 1,000 miles on it, i was the 3rd owner. 1st owner was dealer in nj, 2-nd owner was my father.the problem started around 15,000 miles and has continued.the problem is with the rear brake3 light assembly.i have been told that this is a "known defect" that has not been recalled with the slk model that mercedes manufactures.i have been told the tail light assembly does not have a way to cool off and gets too hot and burns up causing the brake lights to loose connection and they fail.4 different mechanics have all told me the same story.i was told that i could keep replacing the part and the same thing would happen again and again and i would not be able to correct this default because of the design of the model of this mercedes.i am afraid that i and my son which is 2 will be in a serious accident maybe even fatel if something is not done, i have gone to the dealership looking for help, they will not help me, they told me to go to mercedes, they will not help me.i have been show the part that gets too hot and looses its connection.i have them with me for proof of what i am saying is factual and mercedes is neglecting this issue.i assume they don't want to be bothered with an expensive recall. Please help us.

During accident where ml 320 was broad sided on drivers door, air bags failed to deploy. Driver of other car which struck mercedes admitted to traveling at 35 mph.furthermore, auto crash notify system failed; these are standard safety features for this vehicle.
I own a 2007 mercedes benz c230 and have a fuel smell that is overpowering especially after fueling up.has a recall been issued for this ongoing problem with many owners?can this catch on fire????

I have a 2000 mercedes c280 sport, which has constant fuel gauge problems. It's as if the gauge has a mind of it's own. This problem was repaired once according to my dealer, but has somehow manifested itself again. I feel this is a design flaw and would like to know what mercedes is doing to fix it.
Oil consumption problem. Oil light keeps coming on between 200-600 miles of driving. Transmission is failing and engine needs to be replaced. Very poor.
2008 mercedes benz c300 right rear lighting failures in the brake and/or turn signals of my vehicle. The failure can cause the lights to dim and or cause the lights to not illuminate at all.

Thank you.

Xenon headlights are dangerously blinding.
Oil consumption problem. Oil light keeps coming on between 200-600 miles of driving. Transmission is failing and engine needs to be replaced. Very poor.
I have a 2007 r350 81,000 ac blow motor went out. Had car serviced check engine light came on within 100 miles.took car back to repair shop he said car reads it running too rich.
I own a 2007 mercedes benz c230 and have a fuel smell that is overpowering especially after fueling up.has a recall been issued for this ongoing problem with many owners?can this catch on fire????

Transfer case failure. Front drive and passenger side wheels makes noise when making a turn from stop position or slow speed. Did some research and it turns out that this is a regular occurancy for the 1998-1999 ml320.

Intalled a steering drag link on a 1987 mercedes 300sdl. Item is moog part number me-do-6066. Nuts stripped on installation. Afraid to install with original nuts as threaded portions may strip. Loss of this link while the car is in motion will cause total loss of steering and control. Part can be installed, but not properly or safely. A do it your selfer could suffer dire consequences. Photo of parts available upon request. Replacement part has been ordered.

1986 mercedes benz 560sl. The driver side sun visor broke and fail to my face while i was driving, almost causing an accident. This is a very common problem to 560sl owner. This is due to the worn out / defect of the plastic holder that hold the visor.

The inside rear view mirror in my 2002 mercedes-benz slk 230 (r170 model) is an electro chromic self-dimming mirror that has no manual backup. The mirror contained a fluid which leaked out causing the self-dimming mirror to fail to provide dimming against rear approaching headlights resulting in the driver to either be blinded or to have to turn the mirror away which greatly eliminates rear view capability in the interior. There are many documented cases of these mirrors failing in various makes and models as a result of usually from the internal fluid leaking.

I recently read on the maintenance blogs that magna donnelly were replacing but, stopped all of sudden.i have never had a vehicle that has ever experienced such a problem with the rear view mirror.
