Headlights intermittently go out on both the passenger and driver side of my 2006 prius.problem was identified by dealership as manufacturer defect.dealership removed and replaced headlights and computers.the total cost for the repair by frontier toyota was $1,323.86.i requested 100% reimbursement with toyota.toyota agreed to pay for parts only.toyota is aware that this is a common issue with the prius but does not take responsibility that this safety issue is a manufacturer defect.the safety issue and cost is exorbitant.
Repeatedly, i have been blinded on night highways by hid headlights, often found on legal mounts of bmw, audi and other vehicles. It cannot be possible for a rational individual to conclude that this equipment is reasonable for safety purposes. They have got to be banned or some form of damping apparatus installed to eliminate the far-reaching glare to oncoming traffic.
Headlight glare is a serious problem.i was travelling on a narrow road when an approaching truck blinded my vision.this truck "jacked up" either had the new hid lights or had on his high beams.when the trucks headlights passed my vehicle i was confronted with a large boat and the trailer wheels were at least 1 foot on my side of the yellow line.there was only inches between the boat and my vehicle when we passed.i strongly recommend that new rules regulating headlights be implemented..i have done some research on using polarizing sheets to greatly reduce headlight glare as developed by edwin land in the 1930's and do not understand why this idea has not been implemented.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)toyota - issues with their high intensity lights dear nhtsa complaint center,as toyota corporation lobbies members of us congress with $25.1 million us dollars to promote toyota.i wonder if members of us congress can leverage nhtsa complaints to favor toyota and other car companies.i think that they could. I bring to your attention from this important issue concerning toyota and many more car companies that have cars with high intensity lights.it is dangerous to drivers whom drive behind them.when the car with high intensity discharge (hid) headlamps decide to beam it higher than normal it causes impaired vision to vehicles ahead of them thus it causes accidents. These headlamps are dangerous and should be outlawed, namely, multi-reflector halogen headlamps with auto on/off feature and daytime running lights (drl), high intensity discharge (hid) headlamps with auto leveling, auto on/off feature and daytime running lights (drl) and many others like it.i wish for this to banned on the highways and all roadways that i drive on.as a us nhtsa administrator are you going to propose outlaws and restrictions of high intensity discharge headlamps with auto driving?as a us nhtsa administrator are you going to propose legislation to change us safety laws about car lights on toyota and many other car models despite its enormous campaign contributions to us government?[xxx]
Upon having my attention drawn to a pop-up advertisement on the internet for motor vehicle parts, we placed an order, via the web for the amount of $362.24, on september 20, 2019. The product arrived september 26, in packaging that reflected no occurrence of damage while in transit, after having the parts installed on the 27th, it was discovered shortly thereafter that the product was inferior, thus causing the vehicle to be inoperable on a public street due to being deemed unsafe and illegal. After properly noticing the seller/manufacturer of the deficiency in their product and the safety issue, they have failed to act in a reasonable manner to correct the issue. Your affiant has fully complied with the seller's requisites regarding their return policy, forwarding video and pictures of the product's defects.after nearly a month of bantering in more than a dozen emails, the manufacturer has now advised that we have the product removed from the vehicle to allow them to air dry. Such advice and unnecessary expense by us is not only unacceptable but also irresponsible. Manufacturer holds a willful disregard towards the potential danger and likely outcome of selling this particular product, as our continued request for the replacement of such is being intentionally stonewalled. In doing so, seller is not only failing to provide a product that meets the level of quality for which it advertises but is also endangering lives. Manufacturer continues to knowingly market a product that falls short of standard no. 108 offmvssseller was made wholly aware of the safety-related defect and has failed to properly remedy the issue as required by federal law. To date, the manufacturer/seller continues to knowingly distribute an unsafe product to the general public on its website, carid.com.

The contact was driving approximately 25 mph when a vehicle approached her and other vehicle's hid lights nearly blinded her (two headlights and two at the bottom). She felt that the hid headlights should be discontinued and that they were a safety hazard to other drivers. The contact does not know the year, make and model of the vehicle with the hid lights.
