The contact owns a 2015 harley-davidson street glide special (flhr). While driving, the vehicle's saddlebag detached without warning. The vehicle was taken to american harley-davidson (located at 1437 central st, leominster, ma 01453, (978) 537-6919) where it was determined that the vin was associated with nhtsa campaign number: 15v427000 (equipment). The vehicle was in the process of being repaired per the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000. The vin was not available.

The left hand bag fell off at approx 25 mph in a turn almost hitting the car behind me. The bag had been remove less than 6 times in the interim and was empty of contents at the time of the incident. The mileage is only 6000 at the present. The replacement hardware broke at a rivet head releasing spring tension on the pin holding the bag. The remaining 3 attachment clips show evidence of bending under stress from the tension on the pin. This is a potentially deadly situation
