We had a garmin nuvi 200w (purchased in 2008) that quit working the begining of july (before we got this email about the recall), we threw it away and purchased another garmin. Since we had no knowledge of the recall when we disposed of the old one, is there any type of reimbursment that you can do for us since we had to purchase a new one? any help with this matter is greatly appreciated.

While using my garmin nuvi 205 it stopped charging the battery.i open up the unit and the battery had expanded and leaked pink fluid in the unit.i removed the battery and threw it away but my concern is why the battery expanded and leaked the pinkish? substance.since children are typically in the car i don't know if that could have leaked from the chassis of the gps.the unit has cracks inside and is nonfunctional.i don't know if this was caused by the battery but i don't remember dropping the unit either.i thought it was worth mentioning since i saw a recall on the 200 model.i have a nuvi 205 and 255 and only the 205 battery has leaked.

Recall for garmin gps the company notified me but did not tell me where t o send the unit for repair. I tried to make contact with them no response can you help they say this item could catch fire.

My garmin nuvi-200w unit has been recalled.when i enter my serial number, it states that my unit is not on the list.my unit ceased functioning 2 months ago.it does not hold a charge and letters and numbers are missing and you cannot enter addresses for map information.why is my unit not being recalled if the nuvi-200w is on the list but they state it is not? when i did use my unit, i found that it would get a littlehot but i did not use my unit very often or for long periods of time.

Some of the garmin nuvi gpss were recalled because they have a battery overheating defect.they sent me an email letting me know that mine may be one of them and when i checked the serial number, it was.they told me that i can mail to it them free of charge.they did not provide me with a box and i have to print out the shipping label which is inconvenient because i do not own a printer.they also told me that it will take 10-14 business days to receive my gps with the replaced battery.i believe that this is a very long time to wait without having a gps.i have trips planned which i wanted to use my gps on.i think they should do more to accommodate the people that are affected by this problem.

I am notifying you of a safety recall i received for my garmin nuvi 200w gps device. I was informed of a recall stating that the battery can overheat and cause a fire. This is a very serious issue considering i use my vehicle for work on a daily basis and to transport my family around. It was stated that i needed to ship the device to el paso texas and wait 10 to 14 business days for my device to be returned... This is beyond an inconvenience... I use my device on a daily basis for work and cannot be without the device for the allotted repair time. So it appears my only option is to discard the defective device and go purchase a new device, like i said i cannot be without a device for work, nor do i wish to continue to use it and have it catch fire, burn my vehicle, and perhaps my family and i to ashes. Furthermore its sad to say and appears most certain there will be no compensation to this unfortunate and very frustrating issue.
