The contact owns a 2010 honda civic equipped with a garmin navigation system model nuvi40lm (n/a). The contact stated that during cold weather, the power cord of the navigation system became stiff. The contact drove over an uneven surface on the road when the navigation system detached from the bracket on the windshield and fell in between the steering wheel. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure...updated05/09/13 the consumer stated garmin sent a fix that appears to have resolved the problem. It won't be until next winter to know if the fix actually resolves the issue. Updated 06/3/2013
The contact owns a garmin gps unit, model number newby 1450 lmt. The contact stated that the unit was inoperable since first purchased. The unit was purchased november 2010 and as the contact attempted to use the gps unit, the screen went blank and the battery was abnormally hot. He stated that after he allowed the system to cool for several hours it became operable.
