The contact owns a fulmer helmet and model: af-m/xl. The contact stated the helmet was included in nhtsa campaign number:06e058000 (equipment). The manufacturer was contacted for a replacement helmet and the contact was informed that the recall was only for four years and was expired. The helmet had not been replaced. The contact had not experienced a failure.

As required by north carolina mandatory helmet statute gs 20-140.4, i wore a fulmer trooper helmet on a trip that is just 78 miles away. The total trip was 160 miles, and should have taken me less than 3 hours. Due to extreme neck strain caused by the weight of the helmet and very poor aerodynamics, i ended up having to stop twice in each direction for 20 minutes at each stop. The neck strain was only temporarily relieved by the stops. This added 80 minutes to my trip. Add to that, a bee got trapped in between my temple and the strap, and stung my temple. It hurt like the dickens, and it is a good thing i am not allergic. I do not recommend using a fulmer trooper helmet when the motorcycle is not equipped with a windshield. I also recommend nobody should ever be forced to choose between wearing such a tortures device and being subjected to law enforcement actions.

The strap of my helmet caught on my jacket. This prevented me from turning my head. The motorcycle was traveling at low speed and i ended up falling over resulting in scraped chrome. As i fell, the extra weight of the helmet acted like the weights on a dart, and i struck me head and ended up with headaches. Had i been lidless i would not have struck my head. This could happen with any helmet. I refuse to wear one ever again. They cause accidents and when they do, the added weight causes the head to take an impact.

I own a fulmer helmet, modus af-m, size xl that was recalled: 13e007000. I never received a recall notice. I only learned it was unsafe when i was searching the internet for a replacement part. I contacted the manufacturer today at 844-438-5637. They said i should ship the helmet back and they would send me a check for $25. My complaints are 1) they made an unsafe helmet 2) they never informed me of the recall or i would have dealt with this long ago 3) it will cost me $25 to ship the helmet back an 4) $25 does not even closely cover the cost of a replacement helmet (typically $150)

My husband was wearing his fulmer af-v2 2007 helmet and riding at 30 mph when he was hit by an suv turning left. He was in a coma for 9 days and sustained a traumatic brain injury.
