Passenger air bag disabled light would come on even if there was a passenger sitting in the seat. Following this a general "service air bag" warning light came on. The car was taken to the chevrolet dealer for evaluation and i was informed the passenger side present module(b0074 error) needs to be replaced. Mechanic informed me that the module went bad and therefore disabled both the driver and passenger side airbags and that the total cost of repair was 950$. I asked for a root cause for the failure in order to verify that i did not have an influence over the failure of such a critical safety feature. After various calls with multiple levels of chevrolet corporate employees, i was informed that this part occasionally goes bad and may have been a bad design. My car has never been in any accidents and this feature failed randomly and could of placed my family at risk if there was an accident prior to the repair.
The driver side window does not work properly and it chooses when to go up and down and also i would have to open the door in order to work the window. Also the stalls on numerous occasion to start. The brakes are brand new and a problems still occurs when trying to stop it shakes even when going a low speed.

My wife and i bought a preowned 2010 equinox with low mileage and a short time later i was checking fluid levels and noticed the oil was 2qts low, added oil. Short time later we went on a trip and a while later i checked oil level and it was down a quart. Called chevy dealer where it was bought and they said they would do a oil consumption test to see how munch oil it was using. Dealer ship changed oil and was down a quart. Service technician said he had no ideal where the oil was going, and i told him it was pretty clear that the motor was burning it, number one the tailpipe was black as the ace of spades and there must be a factory defect in the engine. I have spoke with gm head office about this and they did give me a claim number.
2006 chevy equinox has problems starting. Have topush gas pedal to even get it to start at times. This has been an issue since we bought the car in dec of 2007 with 32,000 miles on it. The same problem has been occurring for over a year. Where i go to start my car, my key turns over but the engine never kicks on. Its makes an odd noise, not grinding but a noise. It takes about 6-7 times before the vehicle will kick on. Once it finally starts there is black smoke and fluid coming out of the exhaust pipe. The rpm's rev up to 8k than down to 4k, the car idles and sounds like it wants to die. I have brought my car back and forth to the dealership 6 times since april 15, 2008. So far nothing has been done and they state the car is up to gm standards. I have wasted much time and money into this issue and soon the car will be out of warranty. I have a feeling that once the warranty is up that they will charge me an arm and leg to get it fixed. I have a 2006 chevrolet equinox will a little bit under 34k miles.
Purchased 2010 equinox ls on 8/14/09. The vehicle has incurred numerous visits to the dealership to correct a major water leakage problem,defective module which controlled dashboard functions including heat and defrost and a severe oil consumption condition which remains unresolved. Complaints of engine knocking were reported to 2 dealerships with no resolve. Approximately 6 weeks ago the vehicle experienced the same knocking and check engine light. The dealer replaced the timing chain,thermostat along with various seals and valves. This past monday the vehicle experienced the same tapping noise and shuttering,after was determined the vehicle had no oil the vehicle was towed to the dealer were theydiscovered the car had consumed over six quarts of oil with no visible signs of oil leakage anywhere. The were advised by gm to do an oil consumption test over 5000 miles with a bi-weekly inspection by the dealer. A research of internet forums revealed this situation to be a common complaint with various concessions made to other owners. This is a dangerous defect that can leave a driver stranded in the heat of summer or dead of winter with life threatening possibilites. This matter deserves you immediate attention.
The back hatch lock will not release on my 2010 equinox to open the hatch. It started with a difficult try to open it.now it will not open at all.i am bringing it to the dealer tomorrow (it is out of warranty over 36,0000 miles)this hatch is not open every day.in reality it is open only about once a week, so it shouldn't have broken.
Wipers stopped working during a severe rain storm and almost caused a major accident due to limited visibility on a major expressway.dealer replaced the wiper transmission/linkage assembly. Stated that this is reported issue with gm chevrolet equinox vehicles and other models have been recalled for the same issue with wiper transmission.

On this day april 8, 13 while driving on the freeway all of a sudden the sunroof of my 2007 equinox ls flew off.

I purchased my 2004 malibu from frank parra chevrolet in dallas, tx. I spoke with the service advisor there to inform them of the steering issue.when you turn either direction the car will continue in that direction unless you manually turn it to center your self.the advisor told me that it could be one of two things 1) the contour of the road, 2) how the car was tied down on the deliver truck that has caused the alignment to be out of wack.if the second response is true then wait for 500 miles, if the steering doesn't change then they will perform a all wheel alignment on it.well 500 miles came and went and there was no change in the steering.the advisor says the the head technician stated due to the steering being electrical that is how it will drive, it is perfectly normal.i didn't like that response so i spoke with the manager of the service department and he suggested that i test drive another vehicle to see if there was a difference.i did that and the newer vehicle drove totally different than mine but the advisor refused to do anything about it so a couple of weeks later the steering locked up while driving on the freeway at 65 miles per hour. I had absolutely no power to the steering.fortunately i was on my way to another dearlership and they checked it out for me but once you turned the vehicle off and on again the power came back.since then i have had the maintenance light come on for service.it has been checked out and serviced.the steering is still returning to center after directional turns.pe04031_cat.
I purchased a chevy equinox in 2004, since i got it, i have taken my car 3 times to service for the cd changer, and once i took it to check the engine service light and a really strange noise coming from the front of the car while driving, but what really concerns me is that on may 2005 i had a car accident due to my steering wheel, got locked while i was driving at 60-65 mph in a highway, prior to the accident the engine service light turned on, and a few minutes later the oil service light too, i tried to avoid impacting any other vehicle around me but i couldn't. The two tires from the passenger right side came out of the rims, the tire from the drivers rear side came completely out of place. The strange thing is that the impact was in the drivers side door by the handles, but it looks like the whole car was put in a two story building and had been throw down from it, because it didn't support the collision. They are still investigating this incident. They estimated the damages in almost $8,000.00

Driving under normal conditions i've experienced two failed front wheel bearings on driver side causing vehicle to vibrate, chevy garage replaced under warranty now upon getting vehicle inspected it was discovered that carrier bushing that connects front driveshaft to rear driveshaft has failed which could cause driveshafts to fall off. Car is a 2005 chevy equinox with 35,000 miles on it, i feel gm should recall these vehicles and check these problems out before drivers have a serious accident. People are not reporting these failed components because garages are fixing under warranty so it doesn't get reported to you. I feel these components are defective right from factory so there should be a recall, thank you

2016 equinox rolled back 15-20 feet, despite the vehicle being in park. Car would not stop rolling back after engaging the breaks. Approximately $12k of damage done to my vehicle, and $10k in medical, and another $5k in property damage to an apartment complex mail center. Possible mechanical failure with transmission and/or break system. Brand new vehicle; no alterations made to the vehicle after purchase; followed routine 3k, 5k, 10k and 15k maintenance schedule.
