The contact owns a 2013 echo trailer ee 14-w-14. The contact was driving 5 mph over a speed bump with the trailer attached when an abnormally loud banging noise was heard. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the trailer tongue that held the ball in place failed. The contact explained that when the pressure was placed on the safety chains, the hooks failed and would pull in a straight direction. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 1,000.
