The contact was able to drive onto the emergency lane. The dealer tore the awning fabric while the rv remained in the emergency lane. The dealer stated that the awning motor failed causing the arms to release since they were not locked. The dealer replaced the motor and added a lock. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The awning serial and part numbers were unavailable.
The contact owns a dometic refrigerator, model number rm2662 housed in a 2001 keystone tailgater. She received a recall letter after the repairs were made. The recall notice indicated that a metal piece would be used to shield the rear of the refrigerator in the event of a fire. The recall did not remedy the failure. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they were not liable for the failure of the refrigerator but only placing the metal piece on the back of the refrigerator. She was concerned that in the event of a potential fire, the metal piece would not stop the fire from occuring.

Customer care stated thatmy refrigerator was noton the list.they could nottell me why the automated system says it was,and when i contacted them by e-mail i was sent an automatic response to call the 888 # again. Or that i could complain to nhtsa , with a link to this site. Which iwas doing now. I still didn'tknow if my refrigeratorwas safe or not.

I also have a dometic frig that failed in september 2008.as other complaints, dometic refuse to replace the cooling unit since my warranty expired in march 2008 ... What a surprise!what i find amazing is our government has not stopped this company from distributing and selling their products in the united states.a rv that would catch fire while on a busy highway or even a busy campground where damages or even loss of life could be terrible and of course dometic will not claim any responsibility for distributing nearly one million units that are affected in this recall.i probably will replace my refrigerator with an all-electric unit as i am not replacing it with a dometic model that came with my sprinter 5th wheel as dometic is not addressing the problem only providing a band-aid for a serious problem.also anyone considering contacting keystone (the manufacturer of our camper) will not receive any help to address this problem.

The contact owns a dometic refrigerator, model rm2662 and serial number 90103270.the contact took the refrigerator to the dealer to correct the recalled burner housing in february of 2007.in july of 2007, he noticed that the refrigerator was warm and found a crack that was leaking ammonia.the dealer called dometic to request approval for additional repair.the manufacturer stated that the refrigerator was out of warranty and would not assist.
