Had left front tire blow up while driving on hwy 5 near coalinga, ca. The man at the garage where i bought a new tire noticed the valve stem was cracked and said he had no recall notices on it.i brought the tire and valve stem back to the tire store where i originally bought my tires and i was told that there had been a warning on them, but no recall. I had all valve stems replaced on my vehicle this morning.i found information about these stems on nhtsa odi.i was fortunate enough to be able to slow down and steer my car to the shoulder of the road safely, however, with great, greatdifficulty.i was helped by chp and tow truck.
I had a blow out on highway 20 and when i took my car to wal mart in marshall tx. They told me they had to replace the tire valve and that is what caused my blow out.
I replaced the tires (4) at the sears store in asheville nc 12/08/2006 they replaced ? the valve stems there was a general recall on valve stems at a later date and sears did not notify me of thisthey should have contacted me and checked the stemsthey did nothing.
Noticed loss of airat tire. Was leaking air at valve stem - rubber cracking - separated. Replaced 2 valve stems that had visual cracking / separation.
Valve stem by dill, tr414 series, cracked/tore and caused a flat tire.the tear in the valve led to the shredding of the interior of the tire with bubbling both inside and outside of tire.this is the second valve stem crack i have experienced.
Had a flat tire on interstate 85 in south carolina, also another flat on oct 23 2008 both incidents ruined the goodyear triple tread tires, the cause was valve stems made in china by a subsidiary of shanghai baolong industries for dill air control products. I am in the process now of having all valve stems replaced, and the second tire replaced. The bad stems are at the tire dealer at the present time.
Had blow out of driver side rear tire on hwy going 60 mph. Facility were tires were originally put on, seemed to have no idea about recall or any warnings pertaining to dill air control valve stems. They were advised by my fiance to check the rest of the valves before i left and it turned out that 3/4 of the stems had cracks.all read dill-acp tr-414 on the button end of valve.
Two tire valve stems were found to have cracked on two new tires i purchased from sears in 2006. Inspection of valve stems was made following local tv news report of valve stem defect. Yet i have not received any notice of recall or warning of defect from any one including seas, valve stem distributor or manufacturer. Since failure of valve stem can lead to sudden tire deflation at high speeds resulting in serious injuries or death, shouldn't this defect be more widely publicized?
Two tires less than 2 years old(installed january 2007 at ntb) have gone flat due to cracked dill valve stems.one went flat at highway speeds, the other at street speeds.one tire had to be completely replace, the other one was ok, just the valve stem had to be replaced.
