While driving down the main highway at approximately 45mph, i heard a loud noise and looked in the side view mirror and noticed the vehicle behind me stop suddenly. I pulled over to ensure everything was fine; however, my spare tire had fallen from the undercarriage. I inspected underneath and noticed the cable and chain had broke and caused the tire to fall while vehicle was moving. I still have the spare tire which is the original and has never been used or taken out until this defect.*ln
Haul-master trailer spare tire carrier sold by harbor freight (item # 93341) partially separated after about 1 month in service, allowing the spare to fall out of position & almost contact the road.the spare tire carrier is used to mount a spare wheel & tire assembly to the frame of a trailer; in this case, a boat trailer.the failure was observed after a trip of about 8 miles.if this had occurred during a long trip, the failure might have gone un-noticed & progressed to the point where the spare tire would have fallen off the trailer & collided with another vehicle, or interfered with the trailer wheels, leading to loss of control of the trailer, an accident, & injury or loss of life.
