With camper on truck, i retracted the camper jack, and the lower leg dropped to the ground. Upon disassembly, i found the spring roll pin holding the threaded rod of the lower leg to the upper collar had shattered. I believe this is an unsafe design, since the pin must span the distance between the un-threaded collar and the ball threads of the rod. These pins have published shear strengths, but bending moment ratings are not available. While this failure occurred when stationary, i have heard of other failures that have occurred when underway.
