I own a 2008 bmw 335i 4 door.there is a malfunction with front passenger air bag and sensor/control module.it was a recall issue that bmw notified this agency of on 12/11/13.the nhtsa campaign # is 13v-564.components: air bags frontal seat sensor/control module.the problem is that according to the research done, bmw did not include my model year in the recall.they acknowledge it but did not formally issue the recall on my model year.now the bmw service shop wants approximately $2800 to fix this issue that is their fault.they should repair the faulty equipment at no cost to me as the consumer.the mfr's report date:11/8/13.i would like bmw of north america to correct the faulty equipment/components at no cost to me.the consequences are that the system will fail in the event of a crash, deactivating the front passenger air bags, increasing the risk of personal injury and even death.i was told the sensor communicates the weight of the passenger for the car to deploy the air bag at the correct speed and pressure, if the airbag does happen to work, but most likely will not due to the malfunction.this is unacceptable and the nhtsa should enforce bmw to recall all models this issue impacts. Per the article:"in 2008, bmw recalled 200,000 vehicles due to a similar problem, but did not recall these vehicles at that time.bmw said it did not recall the additional 77,000 vehicles recalled this week in 2008 because ?they had significantly lower warranty claim rates.? this is unacceptable!!

In 2008 bmw recalled 200,000 vehicles because of faulty passenger occupancy sensors (nhtsa campaign number:08v384000) including my vehicle, 2006 bmw x3.bmw claimed that the faulty part would be rectified by this recall. However, the exact same faulty sensor has again failed in my 2006 bmw x3 and i have a ?air bag warning? light on my dash and the ?passenger air-bag-off? illuminated even when a passenger is seated.i took my vehicle to the dealership today and they confirmed the faulty passenger occupancy sensor requires replacement at $1800 but they will no longer replace under the recall. Why should i pay $1800 for an item that has failed again from an earlier recall issue? should not bmw take responsibility and replace it again?

Defect initially occurred at night time in rush hour traffic: dash-lights went out, turn indicator not functional, heater blower stopped working(causing fogging of windshield/windows), air bag lights went on, seat belt light onconsequently had to pull on the side of road (limited visibility, no speed indicator, could not operate vehicle safely).a couple of attempts at ignition cycling partially restored functionality. After initial defect, problem could be reproduced intermittently (all/some of the component listed above failed during course of normal operation of vehicle). Vehicle inspected by mini/bmw dealer, root cause: interference on k-bus of one of the audio component, resulting in failure/malfunction of other components on the bus. Ultimately component (mini i-pod interface) had to be removed -- part is available if needed. Request to have repairs covered wasrejected by mini/bmw customer relations ongrounds there was no recall (vehicle is 5 months out of warranty --- 41k miles).

I have a 2006 3 series with a malfunctioning air bag indicator system. This vehicle series was recalled under nhtsa action number ea08001. I have contacted bmw north america twice and they will not confirm that i am in the recall but each time ask me to take the car to the dealer to have the issue repaired at my expense.the seat belt and airbag light in conjunction with the "airbag is notactive" in the passenger seat is always on when a passenger is in the seat. This malfunction has been on going for at least six months. Bmw na also claims not to have a vin number listthat they have in their possession, although they do say recall notices are being sent out. This seems rather odd if they are sending out recalls for vin numbers that they don't know are being recalled. I am concerned for the passengers and cannot seem to get bmw to acknowledge the nhtsa recall or the vehicle.

I received recall notice for airbag in feb 2016. The notice said anyone in the car could die if the airbag deployed. I received approval for a replacement car from bmw north america who said this would be honored by the dealer stevens creek bmw. I called 4 times on this and the promise was never honored. Maybe more important, it is now 10 months later and i was told that they haven't even ordered the replacement parts for my vehicle. This is a tragedy.

I purchased my 2005 bmw e60 545i back in march 2013, i did some research before purchasing the vehicle about its drive ability, performance and safety. I stumbled upon the recalls on this particular vehicle and noticed that their is a common issue within the systems passenger airbag restraint system/ seat mat. During the summer of 2013, my fiance was pregnant with my first born. We were driving to buy some groceries when the infamous passenger restraint malfunction light popped up on my idrive screen. It couldn't have come at better time than that. The safety ofmy fiance and especially my newborn, burdened me. I took the vehicle to my nearest bmw dealership they stated that the airbag was no longer under warranty but covered the battery cable issue. After trying to get the airbag resolved i felt unsafe driving the vehicle because the unknowing factor if the airbag were to deploy while driving or during a car accident. The bmw rarely gets driven with an occupant because of the liability risk from the airbag.

I currently own a 08 bmw 328xi 4drsedan and have recently experienced a front passenger seat detection mat malfunction. This sensor malfunction affects the deployment of the front passenger seat airbag in the event of a collision. The error codes my vehicle is displaying are the same as those addressed in the nhtsa safety recall campaign number 13v564000, dated 13 nov 2013. The nhtsa recall indicated bmw is recalling 06-07 3-series equipped with seat types that may produce similar errors due to cracking that develops with age. This cracking is true in my vehicle and has been verified by local mechanics. Should the system fail, in the event of a crash, the front passenger air bag would be deactivated, increasing the risk of personal injury. Bmw north america when contacted offered no help stating that 2008 models are not covered under the recall although they extended warranty for 10 years for all 20096-2007 vehicles with similar problem. Pleasereviewthe complaintsof air bag problems in bmw 3 seriescoming from 2008 year model 328 xi . Bmw need be advised to look into the problems in order to ensure safety measures. My car is giving the message -" fault in passenger restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner, or belt force limiter.some of the complaints lodgedby other owners with you are similar to as follows:"passenger side airbag light came when i started the car, then it shows like passenger airbag is off. For the past 2 weeks the light was coming intermittently, but now it is always on when i start the car and it shows passenger airbag is off. I searched online about this issue and went to mechanic. They gave me error code "93c3" which is passenger seat airbag sensor is not working in the seat and it will cost around 1300$ to fix this issue. Bmw had a recall about this issue but it doesn't cover 2008 models. "

The passenger air bags are disabled.there seems to have been a glitch after i had the vehicle serviced.the service center was apt to correct this situation the first time.they claimed it was an error the second time around, however, i have seen other vehicles with the same defect.

Greeting, i have been in possession of my 1999 bmw 323i for 11 years. I made the purchase oversees through the military bmw sales program. I had the vehicle maintenance by bmw highly trained technicians since year 2000. The car was service at bmw in 2007 for the heating & air condition compressor (hvac) and bmw was informed about the airbag indicator light.we informed bmw on many service visits prior to the 2007 service visit and after 2007 that the airbag indicator light constantly comes on when either conducting normal driving on approved roads or on one occasion when the drivers door was shut after arriving home from a service visit. On one visit they reset the light without charge and on other service visit they wanted to charge a fee for resetting the airbag indicator light. However, on one service visit bmw said there was nothing they could do to fix the problem. I never receive any notices from bmw informing me that there was a problem with the airbag system. I assumed that taking the vehicle for service that all problems was identified by bmw allowing the customers to determine the repair decision. On or about 03 aug 08, the head airbag deployed while conducting normal driving on an approved hard ball road. After taking the car in for service and informing bmw about the airbag indicator light, they replied that there was nothing they could do to resolve the problem. As a result the airbag indicator light was on prior to the deployment. The car has been disabled for 4 months pending a decision on repair cost of $9000.

I purchased my bmw 325i in august of 2006. Since that purchase i have only driven it approximately 9-12 months collectively. The car was purchased with 37500 miles and now has 70,000 miles. The problem appears to be the electrical system which causes the lights to turn off and on when they feel like it. This car has been sitting in my driveway for the past 9 months because it is unsafe to drive and will not pass inspection. I have had it to numerous bmw dealerships, they can not find the problem. All the issues seem to be electrical in nature and are very hard to accurately diagnose. The bottom line is i am charged thousands of dollars to repair the car but car is still not safe. The rear lights have burned out and the right front light goes on and off at will. The last incident occurred in dec 2009 when the car lit up like a christmas tree (the only time all of the lights worked.) however, when you turn the car on, the lights went off again. The car had to be towed to the shop where it remained until january 2010. I was charged $2700 and still can't get this beast inspected. This has gone beyond the point of ludicrous. I am completely disgusted with the "ultimate driving machine". In essence i am paying 650 dollars a month for nothing. The last mechanic that looked at the car recommended that we should replace the front lighting system because the current system that is faulty is not meant to be replaced, so replacement parts are very expensive. In theory the lights should last the life of the car. This is not the case with my car and to replace the xenon lights with the more common halogen lights it will cost an estimated 2,000 dollars. This is not feasible with a car payment and until the car is paid off in 2012. It will sit in the driveway, a waste of a perfect car, my retirement car.

I experienced a failure of my pdc(parking distance control) system. The system failed to operate and i scraped a wooden pole as a result of this failure. I was looking behind me, as i was backing up, the system is designed to go on when reverse gear is on, but it failed to employ. My vehicle is a bmw 2010 528i. This is my fifth bmw 5 series and since the i-drive there have been various problems with the car ;however the pdc system in my previous bmw 2007 operated consistently as intended every time. The system in my current vehicle operated consistently until march 30th , when it failed to employ and i had the small accident.fortunately it was just a wooden pole and not a dog or small child that was hit. The reason i pay for this system is because it improves the line of vision of the driver by showing items out of mirror and sightline therefore improving safety.however, bmw (although they agreed to pay for my repair) claims that the system is just fine.for days after the incident i watched the screen each time i put the car in reverse and sometimes the bmw logo would sit on the screen for 2 to 3 minutes, sometimes the accept gear screen would come on, sometime the pdc (which is the only one that should come on). There are anecdotal stories on line of other drivers having the same failure of this system.bmwinsists that the inconsistency in performance is the way the pdc operates depending on what the last computer function was when you shut off the car.this is absurd.i believe an investigation is necessary into the malfunction of this system to prevent more serious injury accidents. Since the repair the pdc now once again comes up immediately when i go into reverse yet the claim not to have adjusted anything on the computer. The model 528 i is not on your list so i must mark 535i which is the closest model you have listed but not the same.

2007 bmw 525xi model not limited to or exclusive of this make/model but has a known issue where a red light indicator appears on the dash signaling an electronic steering column fault has occurred, do not turn the engine off or the car may not be able to be started again, contact your local bmw service department. This has yet to make it on the nhtsa database as an official recall but i have researched and made note of several hundred customers experiencing this same issue on their bmw. This car is out of the 3 year service warranty and this is not covered or a recalled item as of today. I am filing my complaint against bmw since it will be costing me over $1000 to have this addressed/fixed when in fact it is abnormal behavior by bmw engineering/manufacturing and is a defect in their design. It should be recalled and fixed for all bmw customers covering the span of years in which the commonality has occurred 2006-2007 325, 525 models.

Dsc malfunction & xenon lights.

I purchased 2011 model bmw 535i in august 2010. There are 3 cigarette lighter power outlets inside the car and electricity is supplying all the time regardless of whether vehicle is being locked or not. If i use accessories like gps, charger, coffer warmer etc. And left in the locked vehicle under summer sun could really be a fire hazard. I have contacted to bmw customer relations and local service asking to rewire to stop power supply while engine is stopped or/and vehicle is locked but they refused to fix the problem. I have another complaint regarding the steering like other owners which is that vehicle is pulling to the right all the time at all speed.i'd like to request nhtsa to order bmw to fix those problems asap as a recall!

The door actuator system on my 2007 bmw 3281 has failed twice, once locking me in and the other time immobilizing the car and stranding me for several hours.i noticed the first failure when i stopped for gas & could not open the fuel flap. I drove to the dealer but the driver side door would not open, either electronically or manually, and the windows would not lower and the other three doors would not open. Fortunately, the sun roof was not on the door circuit & i was able to toss out the fob key for someone to open the driver door and let me out. A mechanic replaced the 15 amp fuse in the door circuit with a 20 amp fuse and sent me on my way. Conclusion: this car is a death trap waiting to happen. The second incident occurred as i drove home after a state inspection. When i parked and hit the fob lock button, i heard a muffled noise. The fuse had blown again. I unlocked the car with the fob key and after much time and great effort, i installed a another 20 amp fuse. Because the passenger door won't open when the circuit blows, replacing the fuse is very difficult, next to impossible. It requires agility, know-how, and good conditions--not something you can count on in the general population.what can be done about this dangerous condition: go back to mechanical locking, electronic locking is a bad solutionat least, you can get out of the car. Second: require bmw to recall the original actuators and replace them with new designs that, if they too fail, they fail in a door-open mode. At the very least, car manufacturers should be required to offer buyers a choice between mechanical and electronic door opening. Lives are at stake.

My 2007 328i has been in the service department a total of 4 times (that i have paperwork on, it might be more). I have had major mechanical problems with the most recent being electrical. My key will not open any of the doors, i have to use the valet key to get inside. Once i get inside the button on the dash that opens and locks the doors was unresponsive as well. When this started the drivers side mirror also became unresponsive and would not adjust, i can't adjust it to see the road and have almost been in 2 accidents. The same day the air conditioning, which i had set on 60, turned itself to 84 blowing full blast. That is actually the second time this year that the air conditioning has automatically turned to the heater. Short list of other issues: recurrent break squeaking, oil sensor and engine harness wires breaking, and problems accelerating. The computer software malfunctioned as well (another electrical issue which was causing the car to malfunction). After the brake pads & sensors were replaced, the brakes sound the same to this day, horribly squeaky almost grinding. The front driver & passenger windows have a mysterious electrical malfunction. They will cease to go up or down. I hold the window button in the "up" position, the window will roll up an inch then stop. I will have to do this several more times before the window will go up or down. My car goes in again tomorrow am. This time i even mentioned that if i did have passengers in the vehicle and we had gotten in an accident, or worse yet the car catches on fire, my passengers would be trapped. The service advisor didn't seem to care. I can't drive my friends or family anywhere for fear they will be stuck in the vehicle if an accident occurred. As well, i'm not going to ask my parents, who are in their 50's, to crawl through a window to get in or out of my vehicle. My car has been out of commission for me at least 30 days since i've owned it.

Four times since i buy a 2003 bmw 325i ,i have to get the auto to guarantee service for replacement of the struct front bushing, now , afterreplace them at 32,000 miles about four month ago, my car at 37,000 miles request a new bushings. They said me that bmw was no longer replace them by guarantee because of the road conditions in puerto rico. Wheni buy the car i paid for a guarantee and i think that is impossible that a carlike this , the ultimate drive machine require every four month to replace that parts. They should install a good reinforced genuine parts and not a remanufactured. I always try to avoid the holes, but i ask when it's rainingit start a red light that indicated " please avoid this hole" .the dealer stated replaced lens and cover disc for both headlights, noises coming from both rear shock absorbers, replacing alternator drive belt tensioner, tensioner and pulleys, and removing and installing left or right rubber strip. Updated 10/24/07

I have an 2007 328i bmw which stalled and cutoff on 3 occasion within 4 years. They replaced as per tech the fuel injection twice within 2 years and now the car is parked my warranty is expired and cutoff again last 2 weeks.

The sparkplug has blown completely out the head of my 2003 mini cooper, i went on line and found out that this is becoming a common problem.

I have a z3 2001.the car keeps stalls while driving.the bmw service department in columbus ohio has been unable determine the problem and are unable to repair it.they said it was a fuel pump, then said it was the idle control valve then said they still do not know what is wrong with it..they've had it on and off since may 6.(about one month).the car is unsafe to drive while stalling without warning.the engine light does not come on after the car stalls.i do not feel safe driving a car that stalls.

My 2011 335ibmw convertible stalled for 2nd time while less than 200 miles driven in between. Vehicle stalled in slow speed while turning left in both cases. Vehicle lost total power in both cases. Took to the bmw mountain view, ca dealership in first occurrence. Dealer checked and no fault found in the system. Technician drove ~60 miles and couldn't reproduce the issue. Dangerous to drive the car as it stalls. Vehicle has only ~38k miles on it.

Plastic radiator neck broke during travel last week, causing vehicle to not be drivable.i purchased a new radiator and am having it installed by an independent mechanic.this is now the third radiator for this car and there are numerous reports of the same defect in many other bmw 740i.

I parked my 2009 mini clubman after driving about 10 miles to the grocery store round trip and unloaded groceries, went back out to the car and it was smoking white smoke.flames started shooting up from the engine over the windshield and it progressed from there.the smoke turned blackall windows were blown out, front tires melted and blown and the car was declared an obvious total loss.it caught our home on fire and has caused more than $50,000 worth of damage.please correct this problem.

My 1999 bmw 540i sport caught fire 12/19/08 while it was sitting in the driveway of my home.i noticed flames about 1:30 amcoming from the sides of the hood.i had driven the car to dinner that night and it was parked and locked in my driveway.i just happened to notice the flames through the window of my house.called fire department and car was totally burned and melted. Only the rear trunk area was left.i could find no mention of this type of fire occurring on the websites of consumer complaints. No recalls that i could find.my car was well maintained while i had it.the previous owner had good records also.i had only owned it about 6 months.it was bought from the previous owner.

In april 2008 low coolant warning caused me open hood and add coolant. The coolant level was perfect but i still added more. The light for low coolant was still appearing every time i drove the car.every preventive maintenance has been done by book on this bmw. The car has been to the dealer twice after this low coolant light but not for the coolant related service. They could have checked this and advised me of potential problem. Car has 65,000 miles. Plastic was found hardened by heat and brittleness cracked the same. 385 other bmw 740il owners have filed petition on internet for same cracked plastic radiators (on bmw 740i ,and il models between years 1995 through 2001. Bmw ignored our pleas for free replacement. Major safety issue not expected on premium car like this.

The expansion tank on our 2001 bmw 330xi split causing the engine to fail.the vehicle had less than 48,000 miles of use.we replaced the engine and many related parts including the expansion tank and radiator.no warning lights came on until after the engine overheated and the car was in the dealer's repair shop.we believe this failure is close to, but not the same as, the fan failure that you reported on may 16, 2002.

I own a 2003 mini cooper automatic and i've already had to have the power steering pump and the cooling fan replaced twice, and now, only a year later after my 2nd replacement and a few thousand dollars later, it needs to be replaced for a third time.the care only has 80,000 miles on it.this is costly and a safety issue for drivers.i will never buy another car by mini or bmw.

Cars rpm will not stay stable . Go up @down when idling. Check engine light comes on goes out when accelerating. Replace thermostat . Radiator.fanand fuel pump prior to this due to car over heating then came failure ofcracked cylinder in engine. Still no mechanic can diagnosis even with computer scope help.

2006 bmw mini cooper, 2 door. Car suddenly loses power, shudders and engine shuts down. Occurs randomly. Has occurred 6 times since car was purchased, most recent occurrence september 2010. Each time car was taken to dealer. Each time dealer said it was fixed. Dealer does not share engineering information; so, i cannot determine exactly what was done. Dealer had to get mini cooper engineers for consultation on several occasions. Repair orders mention a part called the vanos on severaloccasions. Sudden lose of power appears to me to be a safety issue. Dealer has not been able to repair. Mini cooper of north america has said there is no problem for them to remedy.

I own a 2003 745li, bought itcertified used in 2006.i have so far had air conditioning problems, oil leaks, transmission failures and leaks, power window failure and so many electrical problems that they are too numerous to list.my car is literally in the shop once a month.as of july 2009 the vehicle has 63,000 miles and trust me,it has been maintained perfectly. It even passed a 160 point inspection for the ez care auto extended warranty and proceeded to break down 3 weeks later, how is that even possible?i paid close to 70k for a used vehicle.i could have bought two brand new top of the line japanese cars.

High pressure fuel pump failing

My name is [xxx] , i just recently own a 2003 bmw z4.it is about 65k clean title.i have just notice something is wrong with the steering. I researched this on multiple forums and it appears that there are numerous examples of similar problems. Most relate to issues in hot temperatures and to speed. Problem was very noticeable last evening at 70 degrees. Here are the symptoms...at low speeds (under 20mph) steering is very light and smooth, no issues at all. As speed increases, the steering gets heavier (as it should) but develops a "detent" at straight center. The faster the speed, the more effort needed to overcome the detent resistance, to the point that it becomes easy to oversteer the car. This can be real scary during avoidance maneuvers and quick lane changes. The hot weather just makes it worse.from what i know from research, the way to fix this is do replace the whole steering column.i m sincere asking for help.i can't afford to have it change on my own when is it more like bmw' engineer problems.i hope you guys can do something about it before it get too serious.thanks in advance.please call or contact me through my email at [xxx] or my numbers at [xxx].(best to call me)information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

June, 2010 - i was driving my 2008 bmw 535 station wagon on the highway (long island expressway i-495, new york) at 65 miles per hour when the car lurched, made a loud noise and lost power.bmw replaced the high pressure fuel pump.august 2009 - the car started but lights on dash board went on saying "vehicle had reduced power".it was towed to bmw dealership, where they replaced thehigh pressure fuel pump.august 2008 - the bmw lost power on the highway and was towed to dealer.they made a repair to the fuel injection system.

The driver and passenger windows, front and rear, are defective.the double panes separate, causing a white film to gradually appear and eventually take over the whole window, obstructing view.attempts to resolve directly with bmw were futile due to "warranty expiration".however, a new window was installed due to breakage during the last winter storm, and already it is showing signs of the same problem.the "incident date" here refers only to the newest window which was just installed.it is not certain when the other windows began evidencing the same problem but it is obvious that the problem just gets worse over time.at the time of this writing i do not know the manufacturer of the glass but i am working on finding out so i have just picked a random name so that i can submit the complaint.

The sparkplug has blown completely out the head of my 2003 mini cooper, i went on line and found out that this is becoming a common problem.

Seat heater on 2004 bmw 530i (e60) overheated and became very hot. Smell of burning. Resulted in black charring to the leather seat. No actual flames from overheating. Seat had previously caught on fire resulting in call to fire department to extinguish smoldering seat material. Entire seat was replaced in august, 2005, after prior recall remedy (nhtsa id number 04v575000) was supposedly completed.

I have a bmw 323 ci and i was making a run to the store and i come back out and try to reverse and my car didn't move anywhere but the rpm's were going, so i lost my reverse gear.

In rush-hour traffic, (clear weather, 45 degrees, sunny, dry) i was following behind a dump truck. He stopped, and i applied my motorcycle's brakes. They grabbed, as they always do, but then released. I continued to squeeze the brakes, hoping the abs would re-apply, but it never did. The front end of my bike slid under the rear of the dump truck at about 5mph, damaging the windscreen, instrument cluster, and right mirror. The anti-lock braking system (abs) is not reliable on this motorcycle!

Bmw auto jack part # 71 10 6 773 536used with 2007 bmw 328i sport wagon. This floor jack is an accessory for bmw automobiles and available for purchase from bmw dealers.although sold and marketed by bmw, it appears to be manufactured by bilstein.this jack failed on its 4th use.the main screw mechanism stripped resulting in the vehicle falling.the jack was on a secure garage floor, was securely locked into the bmw jack posts on the vehicle, and was used according to directions in every respect.the car was secure and the jack was in a proper vertical orientation.the failure was sudden and there is evidence that the threads in the main screw-type mechanism have stripped.i will attempt to obtain a replacement from bmw.

There is a significant problem with the engine/transmissions on the bmw x3 model.i have had a 2007 and now a 2008, the 2007 bought back by bmw due to major issues.the problem is that the transmission is not reactive, and causes major hesitation, delayed shifting, and awkward responses from the throttle which is a serious issue when merging or passing etc.the car does not get up to speed, and at times literally "chokes" which can cause an accident as someone behind you can just begin to accelerate and plow right into you.bmw has no fixes for this issue at the moment; others per a bmw forum have also let your office know about this problem.bmw basically does not consider it a safety issues, but it definitely is.this occurs all the time, and the manufacturer says there are no engine software updates (last one did nothing) to rectify the issues.this is an inherent defect in the vehicle and it is dangerous.this system does not let you select an x3 model.it is a bmw x3.

I have been encountering an ongoing problem with headlight glare.when i drive at night especially on the nj parkway or turnpike the glare from the new high intensity and blue headlights is so strong that i have to take measures to stop it. I am forced to lower my side view and rear mirrors so i do not have blinding glare from behind.i am at the point of avoiding driving highways at night because of the intensity of glare both coming at me and especially behind me. Being forced to lower the side and rear mirrors could be potentially dangerous if i need to shift lanes or stop suddenly. This problem appears to be getting worse through the years. I know many of my friends and relatives have the same opinion about the increase in headlight glare. I wonder who regulates and approves the safety of these hid lights. They are blinding and a distraction.they have the potential to cause accidents.as older cars are replaced with new ones that have these headlights the roadways will be flooded with blinding headlight glare. Why after study of this problem and knowing that there are many complaints does the nhtsa avoid doing something about this before the situation gets out of control. The older headlights with yellow tints have acceptable degrees of glare.however the new ones should not be allowed on new automobiles or as replacement headlights. This is a formal complaint about this issue. Please advise me if there are any current actions being taken by nhtsa to resolve this problem.i plan to write my congressman also.thank you

A/c stopped working with the car's odometer at 65k miles (car is 6yrs old). Dealer diagnosed as evaporator failure with estimated repair cost of $4500.on the web, others are also experiencing the same problem even at 50k miles, while older generations of the same car from the same maker never had such issue. This is clearly an impurity case and the part should be recalled, as evaporator shouldn't fail at such age.

I own a 2003 bmw z4 and have had two fuel pumps and filter replacements.the car has approximately 21,500 miles.the first failure was june 2008.the second failure occurred within 1,000 miles of the first replacement.bmw dealer maintains it is ethanol in the premium gas i buy, which is from chervron.the fuel pump is supposedly subject to failure if the ethanol content exceeds 10% or more.i had the chevron fuel tested and it falls within the 10% limit.all fuels in the pacific northwest contain up to 10% ethanol.i find it hard to believe that bmw cannot design a fuel pump to handle the fuels sold in the u.s.i supect the fuel pump design is faulty.anyway i am out about $2000 and i am afraid to drive the car very far from town.

Reverse in my 2000 323i bmw went out. Transmission needs to be replaced.

The service advisor asked did i want a radiator flush i agree to it. Drove my car home and the indicator light said engine get hot. Took car back to the dealer to get checked out. The service advisor after getting the car checked out he said it was auxiliary water pump and it would be $580.

Make - bmwmodel - 2004 z4component - power steeringwhen driving, the steering will sometimes start to feel "sticky". When this happens, more force is needed to steer the car and can cause for over steering. This is a great safety concern and is an issue all over the bmw forums.

When i purchased the 530i 2007 bmw i wasn't aware of the faulty rear middle seatbelt. I think it could have been defective. Since no one probably sat in that seat it wasn't noticed. I think it should be a lifetime warranty and i should not have to pay any payment to have it fixed.

I have the dct transmission with my 2008 bmw m3 and the lag is very unsafe. Dealer saying no fix and problem not unsafe.

Bmw r1200gs adventure fuel pump flange has multiple cracks around perimeter of flange. Failure results in raw fuel being sprayed from connection when fuel pump is running.

Seat belt in 2006 bmw stop work and either would not latch or would not detach, told the dealership and they said it was my problem and they would order a new seat beltand charge me $240.00 to replace the problem.

Plastic radiator neck broke during travel last week, causing vehicle to not be drivable.i purchased a new radiator and am having it installed by an independent mechanic.this is now the third radiator for this car and there are numerous reports of the same defect in many other bmw 740i.

Long cranks, stuttering upon pushing on the accelerator with lurching sensation and front engine block shaking. It used to occur every day before they replaced my first high pressure fuel pump at 2500 miles. Second time i had long cranks a few times a weekwith lurching/stuttering sensation upon pushing on the accelerator while hi-way driving every day. I have a 2009 bmw 335i . Vin [xxx]. I've had my hpfp replaced once. The second time around they just reprogrammed the hpfp but i still get long cranks2 a week with lurching/stuttering on hi-wayacceleration attempts.

Fuel pump on bmw 535i-2010 has failed twice in 60 days on low mileage car.safety issue occurs because car immediately loses power with no warning.the first time it happened we were in a shopping center garage so we were going slowly.second time it happened we were on the 101 heading east at high speed on an incline.lost power and luckily were able to move over to the shoulder with no incident.we were informed by dealer that this has been a continuing problem with this model.they have replaced it twice.the service manager saidthey have redesigned the fuel pump and hopefully this time it will work.i googled similar problems and found that there were a number of people reporting the "safety" issue of losing power rapidly.

On 2003-2004 bmw 3 series e46 sedans with oem zkw manufactured xenon (hid) headlights, the reflective bowl for the headlights will become discolored and non-reflective after normal use with oem bulbs. Over time, the heat from the oem bulb will scorch the reflective bowl and dramatically reduce light output to unsafe levels for night time driving. Bmw has not notified owners of the design flaw, and no replacement parts are available other than the entire expensive, new headlight assemblies that will suffer from the same problem in time. Though bmw refuses to acknowledge that an issue exists, bmw changed the xenon headlight reflector design for later model years to a metal reflector assembly that does not degrade when exposed to the normal operating temperatures of the oem xenon bulbs. These newer designed headlight assemblies to not suffer from any reduction in light output with use.

Hid headlights should be banned. Whenever i am approached or followed by a vehicle with this "feature", i have to avert my eyes to keep from being blinded. They are worse than high beams, and instead of making roads safer, make them more dangerous.

A device called pedal commander it plugs into your gas pedal and is suppose to make you car more responsive.... Causes my pedal to go dead in the middle of driving and i am worried about unattended acceleration.

I own a 2002 bmw 530i ,i have replaced the key 3 times since purchasing the car and now the dealer said its time to get a new one. Turns out that this will not fix the problem which has slowly been getting worse. That problem is the central locking system is broken. You have to open doors manually with either the key in the door or reach over and unlock it by hand.the dome light is no longer working as is the trunk unlock feature which you have to do by physically inserting the key in the lockthe dealers say the cost to repair this is in excess of 900us$ ,an absolute disgrace for this component with no guarantee .

Purchased used 2006 bmw 325i nov 2009. Condensation left front headlight. June - july 2010 took car in to replace left front turn signal which received notice on. Sept 2010 turn signal out again 2 months later. Advised the headlight assembly needed to be replaced. Have read other posting online for the same problem. Dealer refuses to fix ask for out of pocket of $ 500+ to correct problem .

2009 bmw series 1 - tail lights don't work - replaced once and failed again. Bmw knows there's a problem and stated that it might take several weeks to several months to get replacement lights.

On feb 8/9, 2011,my wife was coming back from work in 2004 bmw 530 when she smell something burning and a tinged on her leg, she got out from the car and saw a smoke and a burning mark on the driver seat. I called the bmw on 2-10-2011, and talked to the rep about the safety issue. The rep told me that i will call back in 3/5 days but called me back after 4 week and refused to address the situation.i told the rep that bmw is a reputable company, and they should fix it, and i will report to the safety dept as somebody could get hurt.

I notice it more on hot days, my key button does not open the doors, i have to manually open the door.the real problem is when im inside the car the unlock button does not work, even when i manually pull on the door handles from inside the car, the doors continues to be locked.its embarrassing when you have to have your guest climb out from the window because the doors don't open.once the car is cooler, they start to work again.im afraid that if i ever get into a car accident, we wont be able to get out of the car.i do have a family and i would hate for anything tragic to occur.i have called the local bmw dealership and they said that there is no recall for that problem.please help.thank you

My 1996 bmw 318ti- driver side front window has3 times in last 5 years fallen into the door interior while driving. I have had this repairednow3 times in 5 years at a total cost to beof $1300.this is a systemic design and safety problem that occurs not most of the3 series bmwfrom1995to 2002.bmw utilizes a very poor channel design to retain the window safely and securely with 3 cheap inadequate plastic / metal clips that fail consistently and repeatedly after repair over a short timeit is a huge design problem and there should be a recall and new design implementation to correct this systemic design safety failure. In my last failure last week i was driving60 miles and hour on a freeway and window drops into door almost causing a crash.

I have a 2008 bmw 535xi that continues to show "transmission malfunction" warning indicator.i have replaced the battery and the starter and have been told the alternator is fine.i have also replaced a fuel injector that was locked in the open position.the car accelerates when the warning indicator comes on if the cruise control is on!i fear for my life! the speedometer and tachometer jump between your driving speed and zero.this is so unsafe and i think bmw should recall this car!

2006 bmw x3 .heated seats burned a hole on the left side of the driver seat causing burns to my left thigh.

The navigation system on my 2011 bmw 335i will tell you to turn the wrong way, and then tell you to make a u-turn.i have been turning onto the entrance ramp tothe highway and it will say to make a u-turn. You cannot trust where you will end up if you follow the system. It could lead you to a location that is not safe. I notified my dealer who then tested other 2011's with the same result and tested 2010's without any issues. The dealer and i have notified bmw na, yet now almost 5 months later they have not fixed the problem. When i talked to the supplier of the maps, they indicated they also had received many calls on the 2011 model. The next screen does not let me select the bmw 3 series.

As my wife pulled into a parking space, foot lightly on the brake, our 2011 bmw 328i all wheel drive suddenly accelerated.she jammed on the brake but the six cylinder engine vastly overpowered her efforts to stop.40 or 50 feet later she crashed into a post totaling the car! she and her passenger, both recently retired school teachers, both recall the event the same way.air bags deployed thank god and both went the hospital by ambulance with hopefully minor injuries.this was our second three series and we loved that car! the event unfolded just as anyone approaching a horizontal blockingwould expect.she turned left into the space with foot lightly on brake, about to touch the block when the car roared to life.for us their is no question that that car has a very well hidden and hopefully rare defect. Our carrier says bmw has a box that records the last seconds of driving somehow.we wanted that info to clearly establish that her foot was solidly on the brake.we were further told that bmw will not inquire nor permit others to have the information needed to get data from the box.

This is a second complaint of the same exact problem that i had previously in april 2008. The odi id number is: 10227507. On the evening of jan. 2nd, 2010, the replacement fuel pump failed while i was driving the car as i was making an approach to the onramp onto the freeway. The car shuddered, rattled, and loss power and eventually died. I had to tow the car to a storage overnight and waited until jan. 4th, a monday, to tow the car again to a nearby bmw service center. They eventually replaced the fuel pump, which is a 3rd fuel pump, including the original that came with the car.it was very frustrating that i was stranded 140 miles away from home, and had no transportation for 48 hours until the problem had been resolved thereafter.

A 2009 mini cooper clutch was defective was replaced in may of 2010 and in august of 2010 the clutch went again and this time burnt the fly wheel. The car had to be towed safety of passenger was compromised.

Passenger side gas tank strap comes unwelded form the car.

Bmw cannot be put in neutral when off. It seems it is a manufacturer secret that there is a key insert that is not provided to the buyer of bmw cars. I have a x6 and x3 of which personal experience my x6 died on bridge and i could not engage neutral. Called service and was advised you had to get under car and remove a panel to access. I have written bmw directly about the this and the potential lawsuit arising from a bmw in a traffic situation that kills a person from not being able to move the car in time. A consumer must have this "key" and instruction when they purchase a bmw.how can america allow a manufacturer to sell cars that is locked in park when engine is off.please search web and you will see how to disengage park in a emergency. I still cannot get this key to unlock my x6 or x3. It is a german secret

I purchased a rebuilt left half shaft from bestsource auto parts on line for a 2006 mini cooper s. The re-builder name on the box was feq. The outer cv joint housing exploded into pcs after about 3000 miles. I was lucky it happened driving off froma stop. If it happened on the highway the damage would have huge and the car may have gone out of control. This failure should have never happened. The thick steel housing exploded then releasing the half shaft to fly in a big arc.since i was driving off from a a stop it was a loud bang and then clanging of the half shaft smacking the wheel etc.i was lucky but someone else may not be so lucky. I was in las vegas so i took the car to desert mini and they saw it first hand, i took photo's i can send to you. Bestsource tells me feq is a quality rating "first equipment quality" and that they could not find them either. Feq hasa simple one page website with no contact information. I understand metallurgy, this part was flawed. You can tell by the way the brake looks.. Desert mini kept the part and sent it back to bmw last week. We can track it down i am sure of it. I have tried to find the vendor but no luck. This is wrong. They need to know about this and they should cover my replacement expense. The expense is not as important to me as safety to others right now.the photos i have will make any of your safety engineers concerned.

1) no notice given up to failure of power steering2) power steering gave out on car after white smoke poured out of engine area3) car is at dealership right now.

Bmw x3 stalls/hesitates when accelerating to merge into normal traffic flow.vehicle has problems when accelerating from a stoplight or sign.transmission rev's very high.have experienced dangerous or life threatening moments when driving this csr.have had previous bmw's and never had this problem.have taken car in for servicing once and it is going in again.

I bought a 2014 bmw 328d with x-drive, and when the car hit 79,000 miles, it started making a shuddering, wobbling, rubbing, and whining noise wheni accelerated. I took it to the bmw dealership in towson, maryland and they said fluids was leaking out of the transfer case, which is part of the bmw x-drive system and it needed to be replaced at a cost of $5300.i believe bmw is at fault for building a defective transfer case and x-drive system that should not have failed so early in the cars life, and should be recalled.

The clutch cable frayed and nearly broke at the handlebar during a normal up-shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. Had a full failure occurred the transmission would have been completely engaged without any recourse.the failure has occurred twice before, once less than a year ago, and the once more than a year prior to the first occurrence. The motorcycle had approximately 48,000 miles on it the first time, approximately 49,000 the second time, and 52,000 miles on the most recent time. Each time the failure occurs on the clutch bowden cable (bmw p/n 32732324961 for a 2000 r1100r) where the braided wire meets the molded metal retainer. In the previous occurrences, failure was obvious but more gradual.an individual at the gateway bmw (st. Louis) parts desk informed me last time i bought a clutch bowden cable that bmw had been having problems with this particular part.

My vehicle is 2007 bmw 335i. On 7/3/11, i was on the interstate going 70 miles per hour when the engine warning light "engine malfunction- reduced power" was activated causing the vehicle speed to abruptly reduce speed to around 20-30mph. I had to activate hazard lights and limp offinterstate while car was bucking, coughing, and sputtering. It was extremely dangerous as the sudden slow down might have happened on a busier interstate. I called the tow truck and had the vehicle towed to a bmw center where they claimed they removed some sand from the throttle body. Bmw wanted to blame the high pressure fuel pump, but realized it was replaced 3 weeks earlier due to a recall, along with an "updating" of the engine control unit software and replacing some injectors. I never had a problem with engine until after these recall "fixes." the care now loses power and has turbo acceleration lag.these same dangerous engine issues have happened another 5 since the "fix", only a month ago. This is a known bmw defect!this very same issue appeared quite often to a number of 335i or other bmw models using the same engine, in particular to the 07 and 08 models. Many car owners have the same issue happen after their fuel pump was replaced once or even twice. It seems like there is no fix for this issue and it poses as a tremendous danger for bmw drivers with this specific engine since you cannot be certain when the problem will re-occur. A class action lawsuit was filed recently in california regarding these same issues.will someone have to die before the government holds bmw responsible?

My 2011 335ibmw convertible stalled for 2nd time while less than 200 miles driven in between. Vehicle stalled in slow speed while turning left in both cases. Vehicle lost total power in both cases. Took to the bmw mountain view, ca dealership in first occurrence. Dealer checked and no fault found in the system. Technician drove ~60 miles and couldn't reproduce the issue. Dangerous to drive the car as it stalls. Vehicle has only ~38k miles on it.

2007 bmw e92 335i had fuel pump replaced due to car going into limp mode. Car had fuel pump replaced. Driving on six-lane highway 101 north of san francisco, crowded highway, the car went into limp mode and stalled in the fast lane. Traffic from behind car almost rear-ended car three-times before i was able to frantically pull to a safety lane. I thought i was going to be killed in this situation and never in my driving career was as frightened as i was when my car put me in a very dangerous situation.

2007 mini cooper s - manual transmission would not allow gearshifts and could only be driven in first gear. Dealership stated clutch came apart after 8 months of ownership.dealership replaced with remanufactured clutch, flywheel, gearbox oil and clip under warranty.in july of 2009 i noticed that the transmission was shifting rough and the clutch was making a squeaking sound when applied.dealership got a work order from mini usa to remove the clutch/transmission.on august 12, 2009 the dealership removed the clutch/transmission and replaced the plastic part causing the noise, but noticed the flywheel had heat damage and cracking again.this time the dealership and mini usa state that this was caused by "wear and tear" and not covered under the manufactures warranty despite being covered 15k miles earlier.current miles on vehicle are 31k with 19k remaining on manufacturers warranty.

I have 2005 545i bmw, last week i received recall on braking system asked to take my car to dealer and get it fix. Took the car to dealer and they replaced the defected part. They checked everything and mention everything is fine. Today at approximately 1:30 pm i have received active steering malfunction message . I was driving the car and while driving message popped up. Fluid level looks fine but did not get it checked by anyone yet. Bmw needs to do something with their cars as they seems to have a lot of issues. I also recently replaced the smg pump as well as engine module.

Bmw 2010 328i-xdrive, after one day of owning from buying from dealership, was told valve cover was leaking oil. Massive oil smoke coming from car eqivilant to fire smoke. Had two gasket replaced from local shop after the dealership inspected it. Minutes from having repairs done smoke is still boiling out. This needs to be a recall from bmw company, ridiculous!!!!!

The motorcycle was being driven on i-95 in florida around2pm. There was a good deal of traffic and all lanes were occupied. As i went to slow down i applied the front brake, but there was no pressure and absolutely no action on the brake. There had been a previous recall on the front brakes which had been serviced/there was no problem after the initial recall fix until this event.the bmw service reports that it was complete hydraulic failure... They are working on the problem to ascertain the cause.

On 1-25-2010 i was going to new port beach and traveling on fwy405n. About 5 minutes before the place of accident my car started swirling about 2' left and right and i was very worried. There was no sign on the dashboard because for any kind trouble to the car there is always some thing or other cautioning driver of steps to be taken. Also because i was about 10 minutes away from my destination so i continued to drive very cautiously. In about 5 minutes timecar started swirling very violently right and left and brakes and steering control was not working as i tried my best to control the car. This happened close to fwy73 exit. Though i was continuing to 405n i was on most left lane close to diamond lane. After violent swirling right and left during that action car took a complete 180 degree turn and quietly stopped very close to and parallel/adjacent to center divider facing to on coming traffic. I was safe without any hurt. I immediately called 911 and then i called home and then i called my contact to whom i was going to see. After hwy patrol arrived i saw that both the back wheels were tilted at 60 degree angle and when car was taking 180 degree turn bumper touched the center dividing wall and came off. This was total damage to the car. No other vehicle was involved in this accident and i did not hit any other stationary object. Bmw does not want to entertain this and my insurance company liberty mutual is consistently telling that i am responsible for the accident and i hit the car with a standing object. I am asking for that they should investigate it properly by reading in the car computer that what was the reason of accident and what was mileage i was traveling. Also why brakes and steering stopped working which could have helped me in preventing this accident. I am not looking for any gains but trying to see that more people may not get involved in these accidents and may not be as lucky as i was. I sincerely need your help. Please help! help! help!

Steering wheel locked on 2007 bmw 328i coupe for the second time in two months! had to have vehicle towed, missed work, and out of a vehicle until it is fixed...for the second time in two months.i also know of at least 4 people who have had the exact same problem with their bmw's.please look into this.

High pressure fuel pump went out 2nd time in 8 months.brand new car was leased in march 2010.first high pressure fuel pump went bad and was replaced in july.this causes a safety hazard while driving.car shuts off and all electronics go dead including break system.i have already complained once about bmw 335xi 2010 model and there have been hundreds of online complains as well.

Bmw 2000-2003.5 m3 oval rear view mirror defect.toxic material leaks from the mirror, destroys anything it touchs and auto-dim feature is subsequently disable.bmw refuses to take any responsibility and charges consumer $527 for a new mirror.manufacture of mirror claims it is a know defect and is working with the consumer to replace the mirror at $100.this is a safety hazard given the toxic material inside that leaks on the driver or destroys the interior.

Two years ago in the summer, i drove my car back on the highway and the steering wheel was very hard to move.it was a sticky steering situation.the weather was also very hot.this problem has continued even when i am driving slowly.the weather temperature seems to be the critical factor.yesterday, i drove the car and it steered perfectly.the temperature was in the 70s.today, it drove fine in the a.m. But in the pm when the temperature reached above 80, the steering was "sticky" again.i have found many posts on line describing this identical problem.the car is a 2004 bmw z4.this problem has happened within the last 2 years but the difference between the drive handling yesterday and today was very obvious.

I have an 2007 328i bmw which stalled and cutoff on 3 occasion within 4 years. They replaced as per tech the fuel injection twice within 2 years and now the car is parked my warranty is expired and cutoff again last 2 weeks.

Hid headlights should be banned. Whenever i am approached or followed by a vehicle with this "feature", i have to avert my eyes to keep from being blinded. They are worse than high beams, and instead of making roads safer, make them more dangerous.

Dsc malfunction & xenon lights.

2009 bmw r1200gs fuel strip failure.

Bmw r1200gs adventure fuel pump flange has multiple cracks around perimeter of flange. Failure results in raw fuel being sprayed from connection when fuel pump is running.

I have an 2007 328i bmw which stalled and cutoff on 3 occasion within 4 years. They replaced as per tech the fuel injection twice within 2 years and now the car is parked my warranty is expired and cutoff again last 2 weeks.

Reverse in my 2000 323i bmw went out. Transmission needs to be replaced.

A 2009 mini cooper clutch was defective was replaced in may of 2010 and in august of 2010 the clutch went again and this time burnt the fly wheel. The car had to be towed safety of passenger was compromised.

I have a bmw 323 ci and i was making a run to the store and i come back out and try to reverse and my car didn't move anywhere but the rpm's were going, so i lost my reverse gear.

I have the dct transmission with my 2008 bmw m3 and the lag is very unsafe. Dealer saying no fix and problem not unsafe.

Seat belt in 2006 bmw stop work and either would not latch or would not detach, told the dealership and they said it was my problem and they would order a new seat beltand charge me $240.00 to replace the problem.

When i purchased the 530i 2007 bmw i wasn't aware of the faulty rear middle seatbelt. I think it could have been defective. Since no one probably sat in that seat it wasn't noticed. I think it should be a lifetime warranty and i should not have to pay any payment to have it fixed.

2006 bmw x3 .heated seats burned a hole on the left side of the driver seat causing burns to my left thigh.

I'm writing you this email after what happened on my way home from work last night.i got into my car after a day of meetings and turned on the driver's side heated seat.after about 5 minutes i realize that the left side of the seat cushion was getting very, very hot.i then noticed the smell of something burning.i immediately turned off the heated seat and then pulled into a gas station.when i got out of my car i noticed a hole burned into the left side of the seat.the burn mark is about the size of a quarter.i've attached a picture of this spot.this also cause a small mark on the jacket that i was wearing, but that's not my issue.after this happened, i also notice that my airbag light has come on my dash board.when i called my local dealer this morning to ask them about this issue and to see if they have heard about this in the past they told me they've heard nothing of this issue, but that it would be $125.00 just to look at it.i said no thank you, appreciated their time and hung up. I'm just shocked that with bmw being such a reputable car company, that an issue such as this would not be something they would take care of in good faith.all i want is the issue corrected.

Please help! help! help!

Steering wheel locked on 2007 bmw 328i coupe for the second time in two months! had to have vehicle towed, missed work, and out of a vehicle until it is fixed...for the second time in two months.i also know of at least 4 people who have had the exact same problem with their bmw's.please look into this.

Passenger side gas tank strap comes unwelded form the car.
