The contact owns an atwood water heater. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15e087000 (equiptment); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonabale amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The serial number and purchase date were unknown. The contact had not experienced a failure.
On august 14, 2016 i was severely scalded by a defective atwood brand tankless hot water heater installed in my rv.although the rv manufacturer (forrest river) had been notified of the defective water heater, they installed the defective product in a sandstorm model trailer and failed it initiate a recall of the defective product.only after having having the product repaired by the dealer did i learn of the defect and the failure to recall the defective product. To date, the sandstorm model has not been recalled by forest river for this defect.note: the dropdowns will not accept the vin or sandstorm model trailer*dtconsumer stated product was purchase new and has a warranty.'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
