Ileased a 2001 volkswagen passat 1.8t in feb. 2001, which i am currently havingproblems with.the vehicle jumps when driving and/or when stopped.it also jumps forward when stopped.this is a accident hazard since i have had instances when stopping at a traffic light/stop sign, the vehicle jumps forward thereby causing it to come to a complete stop after the stop sign and/or traffic light.i immediately took it in for service at the dealership, and i was told that the air flow sensor had to be replaced, but at my expense.unforunately, my car's warranty expired, but my car only has 30,000 miles.i later found out from the dealer that there was a bulletin out for an extension of the warranty only on the 2002 passat 1.8t, since these types of vehicles are having the same problems as my vehicle.my question to you is that how come the 2001 and 2002 passat 1.8t vehicles are having the same problems with themass airflow sensor, but only the 2002 passat has an extended warranty on it.i find this very upsetting, since i now have to personally pay for the service, but yet owners of the 2002 passats do not.this was the first time leasing a volkswagen vehicle, and it will be my last.my car has been in for service several times for different repairs and also had 3 recalls.i will be turning in my vehicle in 5 months and am so looking forward to it, since i was not happy with the vehicle nor volkswagen service.

First, the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer where i got it from to find out that the egr valve needed to be changed, did this.then i drove it for 1 week and the check engine light came on again, took it back to the dealer to find out that there is a problem with the crank shaft and that it will be very costly to have it repaired.all of this happened when i was driving it.the car began to shake and i got very scared.i only had the car for 3 months and in the 3 months all of these problems have erupted.i need some justice in getting these problems addressed so that the car can be fixed without cost to me when checking the internet and finding out that this is a major problem with these cars.it is something that dodge knows that these cars have those problems and they are not honoring helping the owners fix them.
Purchase vw passat 2000 1.8 turbo after one from purchase check engine light goes on. Took it into the shop and they removed and installed temp sensor. After couple of month later again the check engine light goes on again. Dealer's service dept said they have to perform diagnostic check to find out and they would charge for that service. Very annoying that lights go on so frequently. Then we discovered that the oil checking rod which the cap is made out of plastic material cracked. With my japanese car i never had that kind of problem. I always thought the volkswagen was very trouble free car.but it seems like it wasn't true.

Taillights would not stay operational. They would burn out every few months. Sometimes a smell would come into the car as if something was burning. Apparently it was the electrical system. The car will not crank now. The mechanic says the wires are crossed which causes the problems.
