Vehicle after market brake lights are way too bright. Tonight i was stuck in traffic behind acommercial van with a dekalb county ga tag that had a brake light at drivers eye level that flashed about once a second and at about 5000 watts every time the driver applied his brakes. My eyes still hurt and feel damaged. I had to put my sun visor down in my vehicle, which restricted my sight lines, to try to protect my vision from this light. Each time the light flashed it lit up my entire vehicle. It is just insane that vehicle lights such as this are allowed on our roadways. It's way past t time that the nhtsa started regulating and restricting the brightness of vehicle headlights and brake lights.
Very poor brake light and turn signal design and installation locations on most newer cars and trucks. Because of their location and size, a lot of these lights on newer cars and trucks are very hard for other drivers to see in heavy traffic and adverse weather and changing light conditions. Huge mfg. Problem for which i believe many lives are being lost as a result. I hope someone will look into this problem so that more people are saved. Trucks are the worst, believe me when i say "you don't want to miss seeing the turn signals on a semi beside you at 70 mph on a rainy freeway".
Seven prong trailer plugs are defectlve, i personally have several new male plugs fail, resulting in loss of lights and trailer brakes. It is a flawed design and should be re-engineered asap. The copper prongs are to soft and fold over instead of entering the female plug.
Omnitracs admits that eld poses security risk to all commuters.http://www.fleetequipmentmag.com/hack-heavy-duty-truck/"now consider the complexities of a vehicle network and telematics devices that essentially connect the vehicle to the internet and you start to see the potential safety and security threats to a vehicle. This is the admission, by omnitracs on how dangerous and exposed to remote takeover the eld creates.assistant u.s. Attorney general john carlin told trucks.com that the federal government was worriedthat an increasing array of autonomous driving features, which is the installation of telematics, in trucks ...could turn them into terrorist weapons. In 2015 nmfta conducted research regarding the status of heavy vehicle cyber security.engineers it seems, have assumed that the computerized vehicle would not have to operate in a hostile environmentin 2015? additionally, fleet operators have added 3rd party communication systems such as qualcomm (now called omnitracs) and others*making it possible to leverage a single attack or design for self-replicating malware against an entire fleet. Http://www.nmfta.org/pages/hvcsthis should scare you.this is all you should need to recall the eld and force fmcsa & congress to rescind this dangerous mandate

Headlight glare.please forward to someone working on the problem.my thoughts.there is a nice powerpoint on glare within the nhtsa website, however, it does not propose solutions.glare complaints were not as common before led headlights became common.the increased luminescence and kelvin color have contributed. In addition, there are more suv / trucks then ever. With the higher position is lights, the glare is considerable to oncoming cars.in addition, the eyes of the american driver is changing. Older drivers contribute, but the onset of dry eye disease caused by multiple etiologies affects 14.4 % of the population.this contributes to photophobia.please lower luminescence, kelvin color and suv/ headlights.or, go back to the 1990 standard when there were 80% less complaints.
