The contact owns a 2005 gmc durmax diesel that contained prestone dexcool antifreeze (n/a). The contact stated that he changed the antifreeze and the vehicle began to experience symptoms of the antifreeze converting into acid and causing the head gasket and hoses to malfunction. The dealer was contacted and they advised the contact that the vehicle was no longer under warranty and provided no further assistance. The antifreeze was corroding the hoses and the water pump, which was replaced at the owner's expense. The vehicle continued to experience the failures after the repairs. The contact no longer felt safe driving the vehicle. The failure mileage was 135,000 and the current mileage was 145,000.
