Cpsc: urbini touri system: consumer stated the car seat will get stuck to the base when trying to remove the car seat, but instead she had to remove the child completely *ss

I had purchased the omni travel system with the petal infant car seat. I have had numerous occasions where the car seat has got stuck in the base and i had to remove my child and fight the car seat out of base. This is very unsafe and this product should be recalled. A car seat should not get stuck in base every time you go to remove it from base. If i were to get into an accident or have a serious emergency were my child needs to get out of the car, i would not be able to just grab the seat with my child i would have to play with straps and unstrap my child to remove my child from an emergency. This is highly unacceptable and very unsafe. Also makes me wonder if i were to be in an accident if the car seat would decide to get unstuck and eject itself from base the car seat now as i type this has been stuck in base for over a month. The car seat also is not very stable in my vehicle, the seat shifts whenever i make a turn, the car seat should not move at all, and i installed the seat properly. I have emailed the company numerous times and they have not responded until my last email. The company gave me a number to call and when i called they said they would refund me, but in order to give me a refund they would send someone to retrieve the entire travel system, coach and car seat and base, which in the meantime i would have no car seat or coach, and would have to wait for the refund check.

Base was installed with lap and shoulder belt, using the lock off as the instructions call for. Sometime during the drive, the lock-off came open. Not only did this cause the seat not to be properly installed (installation loosened) but the infant seat was then stuck on the base, and required a lot of force to remove it. This has happened 2 times now.

The email i sent to urbini:i would like to inform you of a major safety issue with the car seat base. I am a certified child passenger safety tech so i know very well how to install and use car seats.i purchased the omni travel system before the birth of my daughter in aug 2014. I have 3 bases for different cars. I have had the same safety issue with all 3 bases. For several times now, when i try to remove the seat from the base using the proper methods, the car seat does not disengage from the base. I use the seat belt for the install using the lockoff on the base. It appears that the lockoff can come undone when trying to remove the seat from the base thus preventing the car seat from being able to be removed completely. The release mechanism (the red handle) works fine but it's the larger part of the gray lock off that somehow comes undone and wedges into the bottom of the seat. I have to take my baby completely out to try and maneuver the car seat from the base. I am not a weak person and it takes all of my strength to pull it off. My main concern is if i had an emergency such as a car fire or a car crash into a body of water, i would not be able to quickly get my baby to safety. Sure, the actual seat belt could be cut as could the car seat straps, but i don't carry around a knife or scissors everyday. And in the case of an emergency, there is not time to wait for first responders. I do not want to sit and watch my baby burn to death or drown because of a faulty car seat base. I know that i can't be the only one that has had this issue. As i have said, i am very well trained on installing and using car seats so there is no user error here.

I have the urbini petal infant car seat and it has a serious malfunction that warrants a recall. I am a child passenger safety technician so i know without a doubt that i installed the car seat base correctly. I clicked the car seat into the base with my son in it and all was fine. When i got home and went to take the car seat off the base, it was stuck. I could not remove the seat from the base. I took my son out of the seat and proceeded to work to figure out the issue. My brother ended up having to pry the seat from the base. I examined the base and realized that the seat belt lock off mechanism had popped open causing the seat to stick to the base and causing my solid install to become very dangerously loose. I had no movement at the belt path and when i finally got the seat removed from the base there was 5 to 6 inches of movement at the belt path. Had i been in an accident, my son would have been injured or worse due to the malfunction of the lock off mechanism. I attempted to make contact with urbini to resolve this issue and never heard from them. On urbini's facebook page, many similar reports can be seen that were also apparently unresolved. Since urbini wants to ignore this potentially life threatening issue, i highly advice you force them to recall these bases at very least. I don't want a child to die in an accident for a change to finally be made.

Urbini petal infant carrier car seat: the seatbelt lock off is often open when i check it. Even after making sure it is secured every time we use it. We do not feel safe using it installed with the seatbelt, and would much rather use latch to install because of this reason. It has happened no less than 5 times in the 6 weeks we have been using the seat.

Base was installed with lap and shoulder belt, using the lock off as the instructions call for. Sometime during the drive, the lock-off came open. Not only did this cause the seat not to be properly installed (installation loosened) but the infant seat was then stuck on the base, and required a lot of force to remove it.
