Cpsc: i1420012a. Uppababy vista. Consumer stated while trying to bring the seat upward her child's finger was snapped in between the wedge. *ln

Cpsc: bought a new uppababy car seat for our baby and we are unable to properly secure base withlapbelt because lapbelt clips interfere with the tie down clip on carseat. In other words we haveto keep carseat loose in order for lapbelt to be offseat and to close retaining clips on the uppababy base. Dt

I am a certified child passenger safety technician-instructor and i was at a checkup event where i witnessed something that i believe to be a major safety hazard.i was helping a family install an uppababy mesa infant car seat and base when i noticed the built-in lock-off on the base slips. It's not just a little. We got the car seat snug using the lap/shoulder vehicle belt with the built-in lock-off in the center seating position of the car. We noticed right away that when wereleased pressure and checked for tightness the car seat base loosened! it began to move side-to-side more than the allowed 1inch.i believe this issue should be looked into. I've used many forms of built-in lock-offs on car seats and never have i seen one perform as poorly as this.

2013 uppababy mesa car seatmsa30613uo03133chest clip button is so easy to press/ unlatch that my child can now do it on their own. Once button is pressed, it requires little force to pull apart.this failure happens multiple times, if not every time my child is in the seat.seat requirements are 32in or less, and 4-35lbs for child to remain in seat until age 2. My child falls between these guidelines.this is incredibly unsafe. I have had to pull the car over multiple times to re-latch the chest clip.i have been talking with customer service for uppababy in which they have been completely defensive saying that their car seat passed all tests, but and quoted from email "while the latch on the chest clip can sometimes be manipulated by a child with excellent dexterity, they must be uncomplicated enough that they can be undone quickly in case of an emergency where the child needs to be removed from the car seat quickly."nothing has been done to correct this problem. They have not given any solution, other than they feel like my 1 year old has "outgrown" this seat.

I have an uppababy mesa carseat for my five-month old.twice i've found that he is able to release the chest clip, simply by smacking at it with his hands.i reported the issue to uppababy, and they said that the chest clip is "designed for the easy release to be able to remove the baby quickly in case of emergency."while i fully understand that logic, a chest clip should not be so easy to release that a small infant can do it unintentionally.the seat is rated for infants up to 35 pounds, and my baby is only 16.

My son weighs 21lbs and is 29 inches. He was able to easily unbuckle his chest clip in the pupa baby mesa car seat. I reached out to the manufacturer and they said it's only an aide and not required for safety! i have a video that i would like to share upon response.

The chest clip on the 2015 uppababy mesa is ridiculously easy to undo. My 5 month old son unfastened the chest clip when his toy pressed against the button during a car ride. It only takes a small amount of pressure on the button to cause it to unlatch.
