My child's stroller/car seat combo wheels on the stroller have fell off six times and thecar seat acts like it wants to break and my child only weighs 14 1/2 pounds.

The infant car seat adjustment strap is fraying. I contacted the company, but was told this was normal wear. I took the seat to a car seat technician that works through our local hospital and was told that the seat has safety issues. She is contacting the automobile safety division.

Safety first designer 22 infant car seat is so defective in design and difficult to use as to be an inherently dangerous product.1) the releases for the carrying handle are excessively tight, one adult pressing on each side will often not result in releasing the handle. It is easy to accidentally strike the child while trying to move the carrying handle.then, when the handle latches into place, it sounds like a gun shot and makes my baby jump.quite often, we don't use the handle to tote the carrier, we just lug the carrier with both hands as if we are carrying a heavy box.2) the strap for the latch system sometimes covers the bar, making it impossible to snap the carrier to the base.3) it is virtually impossible to ascertain whether the carrier is securely latched into the base.4) the carrier is excessively heavy, making it dangerous to carry a child in.5)the product is shipped with the instruction manual concealed in a slot in the car seat.it took me 45 minutes to find the manual.i bet some consumers never find it. 6) it is fantastically difficult to adjust the straps on this product.the manual does not tell you which direction to move the straps if you want to tighten or loosen.it took four adults (two lawyers, a nurse, and an experienced nanny) one and one half hours to secure my infants in these seats even though i had already installed the bases in the van. This product is impossible and will easily over whelm the typical consumer.if it prevents any injuries at all it is because consumers fear this product and would rather stay home than wrestle with it.the home coming of my twins--what should have been a joyous event--became a fiasco due to the difficulties of using this product, despite the fact that i read the operators manual before attempting to use it.

Carseat complaint - safety 1st model 22-501-walthe cover of this carseat is padded with foam easily accessible by toddlers and small children.my son went through a period where he picked at the seat while i was driving and ate pieces or inserted them in his nostril(s).this resulted in obstruction and infection warranting numerous ent office visits, surgeries, hospital visits, and a head ct.the child suffered difficulty breathing, particularly at night, with apneic episodes.he also had fever, bloody nose, prudulent discharge and loss of appetite.fortunately this phase was short lived and he suffered no permanent effects.the design of this seat cover needs reevaluation - as a mother of 4, i have not experienced this in the past and now only buy carseats with a padded cover that has fabric over both the front (side in contact with the child) and back (side in contact with the seat itself).please note:the incident date is the date of his sinus ct - i assume he inserted the foam sometime 3-5 days prior. *la

We were recently in an auto accident.though we were only going about 30 mph our child's anchor strap ripped free from the screw that secured the strap to the car seat base.this caused my child to be thrown sideways in the seat.(related vehicle information: model year=1998, make=chevy, model=[xxx] )information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Child safety seat is a dorel model, safety 1st, 22-561-wal, 4/2/04 date of manufacture.child safety seat latch was manufactured with a twist in belt.hook was sewn on backwards.advised parent to contact manufacturer and get part replaced.

I purchased the safety 1st onboard35 infant carrier car seat in 06/09 (model #22-356 pro gbib -- you did not have this model to select from the drop down menu so please note the model i picked (i had to pick one) is wrong). Yesterday i was strapping in my daughter and did my usual tug at the straps by her shoulders to make sure they were tight. I noticed that the straps loosened when i pulled on them. I had to pull on the harness adjustment strap to re-tighten the straps (i hope that makes sense). I can keep doing these same 2 steps over and over w/ ease.after i took my daughter out of the carseat, i turned it over and pulled on the harness adjustment strap from underneath. The strap moved very easily through the little slot. The buckle release button does not appear to be stuck in the "depressed" mode at all and nothing is stuck in that area -- it just doesn't stop the strap from pulling through. At first to get it to go though i had to pull it w/ some effort, but now that i've pulled it back & forth so many times testing it, it pulls through pretty easily. I really wonder how long i've been driving around like this.eventually the strap does catch and "lock" but at that point the straps are so lose on my daughter the carseat is basically worthless as a safety device. I'm really afraid that if we were in an accident, and if her body was thrown forward, her weight would loosen the straps and she would fly out of the carseat very easily.we are no longer using the car seat. I did contact safety 1st and they are sending me a new car seat and i am supposed to mail back the old car seat back to them for testing.

The contact owns a safety 1st designer 22 child restraint.the contact stated that the latch that holds the child in the seat unlatches very easily.the straps become very loose when the failure occurs.the model # is 22-6311.

The straps on my baby's car seat do not tighten easily.repeated tightening of the straps led to plastic fatigue on the piece that connects to the straps.we had two of these car seats with my first child.with the first one, dorel juvenile group sold me another car seat at a discounted price.with the second car seat to experience this trouble, dorel told me that they hadn't received any other claims of this problem.now with my second child, we mostly had trouble with the car seat when it was in the rear facing position.dorel should at least acknowledge that there is a problem with the design of the car seat that leads to plastic fatigue.this car seat is the comfort ride model no. 22-400-brd.there wasn't a box to check for this particular car seat.this was an intermittent problem.*sc

I bought a infant carseat for my newborn in january, which is 9wks old now. The handle on the seat is really loose and i am concerned about it. It also has a hard time gettingthe carseat to lactch on the base that the seat was purchased with.

Safety 1st carseat, stroller travel system.the handle to the carseat is very loose and does not lock properly.can not find where the problem is with the handle.

The top latch strap provided on this seat cannot be tightened firmly against the vehicle seat. Rather than provide a (normal) tensioning device for the top strap, the manufacturer elected to provide a dual loop steel plate. The strap is threaded through this plate in a ridiculously complex manner, and no amount of pulling, tugging, or trying to finagle enough slack through the multiple layers the strap goes through (to allow the whole strap to be pulled tightly) allow proper tensioning to secure the child seat back to the vehicle seat. A few dollars saved in manufacturing cost by providing this plate rather than a tensioning device have resulted in a child seat that cannot be used properly. This is simply incompetent engineering. I returned the seat to wal-mart for a refund, but there may be people who do not have the same options for return, and end up installing the seat in an unsafe and insecure manner.note that the correct model of seat was not shown in your drop-down menu, so i had to select another model in order to proceed.the seat i'm filing a complaint about is a safety 1st booster seat manufactured by dorel juvenile group.model # 22-561-wal. Manufactured: p102 b 220565 09/22/06. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2011 safety first child seat, model number tr184akw1, manufactured on january 20, 2011. The straps on my child's alpha sport 3-phase car seat by dorel juvenile group can be pulled loose without pushing the release.we have been using this carseat for a year, and when i am getting him out of the seat i have noticed that his straps are sometimes a little looser than when i put him in the seat.i thought maybe he was holding air in while i tightened it, then relaxed and the straps were a bit loosened.however, for some reason today i pulled on them and they come right back out without pushing the release.the make/model of this carseat is not provided as options on the next page, so i chose one close to it just to be able to get this information through.however, the manufacturer is dorel, the make is alpha sport, the model is #22-452-rby.also, the carseat was a gift, so i provided an approximate purchase date.

My grandson has the safety first 22311 infant seat. I recently bought a newer model car which has the latch system, my old car did not.when i attempted to install his car seat in the new carusing the latch system, the strap broke off. Keep in mind that this is the first time the latch system was used.attn: your site did not have an option for the correct car seat, i chose designer 22 because it wa the closest choice. The actual seat is safety first model# 22-311, infant seat.

I bought a safety 1st car seat/stroller combo from k-mart in december 2006. Earlier this month the seams on the car seat cover began to come undone, my 3 month old daughter got her leg caught in the hole, she had red marks on her ankle from where she got it caught. I contacted the companyabout this, and they refused to do anything about this, unless i had a receipt. I have kept all the emails that i sent them along with the reponse that they sent me.ak

I realize i am most likely in the wrong dept, however this is as close to a complaint dept. As i have found. Please forward appropriately. Thank you!i feel it is imperative to bring to ford's attention that a former employee, dennis gerard of franklin, ma is posing as a current employee (complete with mgr. Title and hiring capabilities) and is offering positions within your company. I am aware of this because i am a victim of his scam.in short, on or about may 16th - i was offered a lucrative position within ford motor co. By dennis ($38k/yr, co. Car, many benefits etc.. - with an aug 1, 2003 start date).he was more than convincing as we met several times, filled out a ford employee application, picked out a co. Car at franklin ford, ma (which would "be delivered in 6 wks. For my aug 1st start date etc..) needless to say a series of events occurred including my giving my notice at my last job (i am currently unemployed) and only then finding out that my "letter of intent" was also fraudulent.i have no idea what you can do with this information. I simply feel it is in your best interest to know that this person is fraudulently using the ford motor co. Name to ruin at least my life and who knows how many others.any input you have would be appreciated.any action you may take, i would appreciate being made aware of.thank you.
