We looked for several months to find the 'perfect' car seat for our daughter. We were excited because we thought we had with the safety 1st complete air 65. We loved the high weight limit and the 'air cushions' for side impact crashes. We have had this car seat for 8 months, and always used rear facing. The back of the vehicle seat always made tightening and loosening the straps hard (as i'm sure with every convertible car seat) because it covered some of the hole housing the strap to pull and tighten near her feet. At 2 i decided to turn her forward facing, and 'secured' her in. I went to move up the chest clip and the belt between her legs slipped and let out all the slack at her shoulders. The shoulder straps were hanging completely off the sides of the car seat and my daughter's arms were free. Which caused the straps across her lap to loosen up as well. I tightened it back up and purposely pulled again, and the same thing happened. I tried it several more times and it did the same thing. Sometimes it slipped easily and other times i had to pull more. With the force presented in the event of an accident i am sure it would have slipped. I feel i should also add this seat was purchased brand new, and i have never unthreaded the belts, as i have only spot cleaned this seat. They are still factory threaded. I contacted dorel and they are picking up the seat from my house and offered to replace it with another. I declined the offer and now they are going to refund my money. ***i could not find on any options for the exact model of our djg car seat. It is model # cc044sugg.

I believe there is a serious design flaw with the dorel safety 1st complete air 65 car seat.the splitter plate on the back that the harness straps hook onto hits a plastic bracing piece on the back of the car seat when you try to tighten your child in the harness.the bracing piece can be found on the back of the seat and is horizontal right where the seat back and seat bottom meet.because you have to pull so hard to get the splitter over the bracing, it causes the strap that you pull to tighten the harness to fray and wear.dorel took over 2 months to finally agree to replace my seat and the new seat has the same design flaw and it is starting to wear again.i contacted dorel but they seem reluctant to do anything about it.

The harness adjuster on my child's safety 1st complete air convertible car seat (model #cc044-awtg) sometimes fails, causing the harness to loosen spontaneously.the seat was manufactured 8/19/2011 and purchased new at target.i have placed my child in the seat, tightened the harness around him, and when i tugged lightly on the harness to ensure that it was snug, the harness has completely loosened, resulting in a very unsafe situation.we have owned the seat for 8 days, and this has occurred on two separate occasions in two different vehicles.the seat was installed rear-facing using the seat belts in the middle of the back seats in a 2004 honda cr-v and a 2006 toyota corolla.the harness does not slip on every ride.when it does slip, it sometimes stays tight when tugged on once but loosens if tugged on a second time.i contacted the manufacturer of the seat, dorel juvenile group, and they are going to pick up the seat and examine it for defects.

The harness was very difficult to tighten & loosen since shortly after i purchased it.my daughter got stuck in it the other day as i could not loosen the harness.i got it unbuckled and she wiggled out of it.on inspection of the seat i found the strap that you pull to tighten the harness was nearly frayed in half!i can't imagine it would of held my daughter in a crash.

The contact owns a safety 1st complete air 65 convertible car seat, model number: cc044-aua (na). The seat was manufactured in october of 2010. The contact stated that the chest harness for the child seat unlatched when minor pressure was applied. The failure allowed the child to be able to fully reach forward while the vehicle was in motion. The child was inside the safety seat at the time of failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The purchase date was unknown.

The shoulder harness straps stick and will not pull out or loosen even when the harness release lever is depressed. I cannot get enough slack in the straps to put them over my daughters shoulders. Advance se 65 air model# cc114-cme. Lot #: 10b390359.
