I recently had my car seats inspected at a car seat check station.i was surprised to learn that at least two of my seats had been recalled for a harness strap problem.i was even more surprised to learn that a third seat may be included in this recall, but that determining this is very difficult.why you ask?well, the entire label with the model number and mfg date is gone.not somewhat there.not scraped off with sticky residue.just plain gone.when i called dorel to complain, mfields in customer care assured me that peeling these labels off is "nearly impossible" and that our assumption that our 4year old had peeled it from her brother's seat could not possibly be true.i addition, she could not explain why the company had not registered any of our six seats that we religiously mailed the registrations for.so, i spent the weekend pulling all of our car seats out of the cars to obtain the model numbers and mfg dates to re-register them with dorel juvenille group, since we didn't get either of the two notices we should have (and yes, we always register our seats).in doing so, i found that the same label for model # and mfg date was peeling on at least two other seats (22-450-wfd, mfg: 7/15/2004 and 22-864-bal; mfg 5-30-2006).funny, while it may be nearly impossible to intentionally remove these, it looks as though the stickiness on the back is melting from the heat of the cars.these seats are in three different cars.a total of six dorel juvenille seats and 3 of them (50%) have lost or are about to lose this label. Shouldn't this label be permanent?

We have three dorel/safety 1st alpha omega convertible car seats (22469-bse).after trying numerous times to secure two of the seats in a rear facing position, my husband and i had to use the anchor strap to keep the seats secure.according to the book that comes with the seats, the anchor is not to be used in the rear facing position.the local fire department is certified in car seat installation.the fireman pointed out to us that the latch belt on the two seats will not stay tight.after the latches were secure and we tightened the straps, the firemen were checking to make sure the seats were secure and the belt would loosen with the slightest pressure on the seats.therefore, these seats cannot be installed properly and are dangerous for my children to ride in as is.i contacted dorel this morning, and all they could offer was a new latch belt for the seats with problems.i was told it would take ten business days for me to receive the new latch belts.when i asked the representative what i should do in the mean time, i was told to just use the seat belts in the vehicle to secure the car seats.my question to dorel and to you is why would i want to just use the seat belt when the seat is not secure and should be used with a latch system.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=honda, model=odyssey).

We have just bought all-in-one convertible car seat with 5-point restraining system. My 2.5 year old was able to unbuckle the top buckle (harness retainer) twice during the drive. The buckle can be easily opened by pressing down one button and by a little experimenting pulled out of the way. The button does not require much strength. The locks on other car seats we had previously required the latch to be squeezed with two fingers and they were impossible for a small child to open. This locking system seems to be too easy to undo.
