The strap that attaches the car seat base to the hook in the car is not secured to the base very well. The strap is secured by one screw and the strap is not reinforced where the screw goes through it so the hole stretches and eventually becomes larger than the screw head making it so that the strap is no longer attached to the base.(related vehicle information: model year=2003, make=dodge, model=neon).

My wife and i bought the safety 1st alpha elite 65 convertible, which i did not find in the drop down boxes and is front facing (not rear facing like the boxes i chose to select), car seat about a month and a half ago. The car seat adjuster bars kept coming loose, causing the head restraint to move excessively, in an unsafe manner.my son sitting in the car seat could cause the head restraint to move. My wife and i returned the car seat and replaced it with a different brand, before there was any other issues or we got into an accident. Before returning the car seat, we contacted the company, and the company only offered to replace the broken parts, when there was no broken parts.

The contact stated that the safety seat failed to lock inside the base on the left side. In addition, the right side lock failed to disengage. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The safety seat was not replaced. The vin and purchase date were not available.

The contact owns a safety 1st rearfacing infant seat, model number 22-049-ssm (na).the seat was manufactured on june 11, 2007.the contact stated that the harness clip, located in the back of the seat and is supposed to ensure that the harness belt properly restrains the child, allows the straps to spontaneously loosen.as a result, the child is not properly secured within the child safety seat.the failure increases the risk of serious injury.the child is two and a half months old and weighs 10 lbs, 2 oz.she is in the process of notifying the manufacturer.the contact still has possession of the seat.the purchase date was unknown.
