After riding in the car seat for many hours my daughter had a laceration to her back from the car seats design.when the car seat is used as a booster the back of the seat slides up so the screw in the back of the seat has less protection.

Recaro performance sport center latch belt became stuck while tightening shoulder straps.we were unable to get it to come loose for a couple minutes.the belt becomes trapped in the pawl mechanism where the return spring slot is.

When the fabric was removed for cleaning the foam that was glued onto the head restraints was loose and some pieces had fallen off.

I removed the seat cover from the car seat to wash.when i did, the foam intended to protect my child's head in the event of a crash easily popped off.i sent 2 e-mails to the company, and when i did not receive a response, i called.when i started to describe what happened, the person i was speaking to finished my sentence, and said she would send out replacement foam and instructions to glue it on with a craft glue gun.the foam didn't stick when they glued it on, i'm not sure why they think i will be able to do a better job.

I picked my two year old up out of his recaro young sport carseat and i realized the headrest styrofoam had fallen apart inside the lining. The carseat is four months old. I have called the company and had no response yet, and have read many other reports online saying the company will at most send me a replacement piece of foam and tell me to hot glue it back in place. I don't feel this is safe, there should be a recall on this if so many people have been affected!

Recaro proride made in 2012 (which was not an option in the seat selection drop down menu).the 3 year old child can reach the button to loosen the harness strap and get themselves out of the seat within 10 seconds while the vehicle is in motion.we took the seat to be checked by a certified technician and they verified that the 3 year old was properly installed when they were able to loosen the harness.

We purchased this car seat and on the trial of it we see safety concerns that needs investigated. We see this car seat as unsafe and returned it for our 100% money back and we will see if we get our full refund due but here is the design problems we see in this make and model car seats. Also you need to check all booster seats and car seats for these same problems because it appears there are many on the market with the same safety problems as this one. 1. This recaro start modified by reha partners inc has no latches. For the latch system andno tethers to secure this very very heavy 5 point harness car seat to the factory vehicle seat so if you have a kicking child the whole car seat could flip onto the floor as you put the child in the car seat.2. The only thing holding this car seat in place is the factory vehicles shoulder-lap belt that goes over the child's chest and waist while in the car seat. That means in a crash the whole weight of this very heavy chair will land on our child's chest and waist crushing the child like a sandwich because there is no latches for a latch system and no tether to hold this seat snug to the factory seat so it will fly forward and the childs chest and waist will get smashed with the weight of the seat and the rebounding of the seat will be awful too. 3, you need to go through all the car seats and boosters on the market and if they are only secured by a factory vehicle shoulder-lap belt you need to pull it and make them add a latch system and tether system on each one because if you do not the child will be crushed like a sandwich with the full weight of any booster seat or car seat that uses only the factory vehicles should-lap belt to secure it to the vehicle seat. These carseats and booster seats can not be free standing. To be safe and not crush the child like a sandwich the carseat or booster seat must be latched and tethered tightly to the vehicle seat or it will crush or slide out in a crash.

The chest clip on my sons carseat is way too easy for a child to unclip. My son has been able to open the chest clip since the age of two. I have called and emailed the manufacturer on numerous occasions for two years trying to find out if there is a recall or replacement for this clip. I get an answering machine when i call and i do leave my name and phone number. My son is able to open the chest clip and squeeze out of his car seat while the vehicle is moving.

We recently bought a second recaro performance sport (note, this model is not listed in your manufacturer db) child seat for our three-year-old female kid (30 pounds, 30th percentile in weight). Compared with our first model, this one came with a significantly shortened strap on the bottom buckle, to the point that her legs get significantly pinched in the femoral triangle. We contacted recaro about the issue with images of the different bottom straps and were told the change is by design. Our kid is complaining about pain when sitting in the seat and i cannot comprehend how a normal sized three-year-old or older kid is supposed to use the 5-point harness. This redesign strikes me as a significant health and safety concern

The contact stated that the child safety seat harness strap was frayed and tangled making it very difficult to loosen the strap. The defect also caused the child to become entrapped in the seat. The contact had to remove the seat from the vehicle in order to remove the child from the seat. The manufacturer was contacted in reference to the defect and offered to mail a replacement strap.

The contact owns arecaro prosport hanna convertible forward facing child restraint seat(na), model number: 38501kaec, manufactured october 27, 2011. The contact stated that the harness chest clip would not fasten the straps tightly in order to secure the child occupant in the seat. The child seat was installed with the vehicle seat belt system. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that they would send a replacement part.

Child seat has headrest wings to reduce the incidence of head trauma in a side impact collision.the manufacturer (recaro) also advertises: "extremely long useful life: one seat for children from approx. 9 months up to 12 years (9 - 36 kg)."yet, in less than two years, the cheap styrofoam impact pads have disintegrated.now the hard plastic wings only have a thin layer of fabric covering them.
