Built in locking clip fails to hold seatbelt securely.

I purchased and recieved the seat mid-april and installed it using latch in our van for a week or so then it was moved to our car using the seat-belt to install.in the car we used this seat rear-facing for both our children (weekends only) so we adjusted the harness height for each child.we usually used it for our daughter so it had only been adjusted a handful of times.when we went to put our son in the seat and lowered the harness for him it got stuck in the lowest position.

The tightening system failed on my recaro signo carseat while i was securing my 18 month old daughter into the seat.approximately 3-4 months ago the tightening system got stuck, but my husband was able to straighten the strap used by pulling very hard on it.on march 17, 2010 (today) the strap shredded and i was unable to loosen or tighten the system.fortunately, i was only 2 miles from home, so i was able to drive my daughter home, although the car seat would not have protected her in a crash.i guessed at the manufacture date as i need to take pictures in the daylight before removing the seat from the vehicle.i will provide the exact date in future correspondence.

I purchased a recaro signo 330.01.mm34 car seat from babycatalog.com on may 18th, 2008. I went to have the installation inspected today & they informed me that the seat was manufactured 10/23/07 before the 12/18/07 recall of the seat. I want to report that recalled car seats are being sold on this website without any warning. If i hadn't had it inspected i never would have known - i mailed in the registration and have not been notified by recaro of the recall or sent the replacement part.

We have a recaro signo which was recalled, however...the company states on it's recall that if the a-lock is silver it is safe...this is not correct and their recall needs to be expanded!!!we have a silver a-lock and it malfunctioned the other day.my daughter was strapped in and i went to pull on the straps to test if they were tight enough and the straps slipped right out!

I purchased the seat and received it mid-april.i installed it using the latch into our van for about 2 wks and then it got moved to our car and was installed by the seatbelt.we then moved it back to the van installing it with latch for a long trip and the latch was stuck open so we had to install it using the seatbelt.(related vehicle information: model year=2001, make=toyota, model=sienna).

I own a recaro signo convertible car seat that was manufactured in november of 2008.i am having issues with the center pull strap that tightens the shoulder straps of the car seat.since buying this seat new, i have had to replace this center strap 3 times due to it fraying and either ripping off, or locking up and not allowing the seat to be fully tightened against my child.recaro has always been quick to replace the strap, but i feel like there is a defect in the design that keeps causing this strap to fray after normal use.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=subaru, model=forester)

We have a recaro signo car seat that we purchased in 2009. It holds our 26 lbs daughter in a rear-facing position. It has never been in an accident. I took it out to clean it yesterday and noticed that the base is split at the seam. I contacted recaro and they said it is not normal wear and tear and that they won't replace it. Nothing has happened to this seat that would cause a crack of this magnitude. We have stowed it when flying, but it has been months since our last trip and the crack wasn't apparent then.

Rear-facing built-in lock-off is not holding vehicle safety belt tight.

I bought the car seat on november 2008 ( it was made on august 08).on december 08 i discoveredthat the harness become disconnected from the harness connector when my baby was placed in the car seat. It didn't stay tight. That could be very danger in the crash. I called recaro and they gave me a new car seat but i think they should inform people and recalled it.

The contact owns a recaro signo infant seat, model 330.01mm14.the seat was manufactured on october 14, 2008.the contact stated that the infant seat was not included in the recall, although the failures were identical.the straps on the harness do not remain locked.as a result, the child is unprotected and is able to lean forward.the manufacturer has not been notified.the purchase date, nhtsa campaign id number, and secured by method were unavailable.

The contact owns a recaro signo child seat.the seat was manufactured on september 1, 2008.the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 09c002000 (child seat: harness).the notice stated that she was supposed to pull a strap as tight as possible and then pull on both shoulder harnesses.if the harness did not become loose, this meant that the child seat was secured properly.she followed the instructions and the harness was not loose, so she believed that the child seat was safe.one month later, the harness loosened on the child seat while traveling with an occupant in the seat.the contact believes that the test mentioned in the notice was incorrect and provides a false sense of security.she called the manufacturer and they are sending out a replacement child seat.the purchase date was unknown.

The contact owns a recaro signo child seat.the left shoulder webbing loosened from the clip in the back of the child seat.the manufacturer checked the date and knew about the failure with this model child seat; however, they failed to inform the contact of the recall for her seat.the recall number was unknown.

Recaro signo child carseat harness failed to lock.i put my 13 month old child in his carseat like i had done time and time before. We drove about 3 miles when i glanced back to check on him. The harness was completely loose and he had reached the headrest of the passenger seat in front of him. After this incident my husband and i noted that the harness system was not locking automatically after pulling the harness tight. We learned that the only way to make sure the harness locked was to do an additional step of pulling up on the harness release lever therefore, locking the harness. I called the recaro company immediately and explained what had occurred. There email response indicated that they have had similar issues noted by other parents....this infuriated me more knowing that they new something was wrong and didn't notify the consumers (they should be able to easily contact me anytime as i filled out the recall card and mailed it back promptly when we purchased the seat). We have stopped using the seat and recaro is sending us a new seat in the newest model this week. I am just thankful my child wasn't injured by the malfunctioned carseat.

Some time around the beginning of july my daughter figured out how to remove pieces of foam padding from her car seat. My husband and i examined the car seat and discovered that the foam padding is very exposed and is quite easy to get to. We notified recaro regarding this problem and were told that the only thing to do is return the seat. We are concerned that this will lead to a child choking on a piece of foam and would like to have a recall or some other notice issued to warn other consumers about this defect.
