Recaro has stated via email that their probooster and vivo require head support behind their boosters.now this contradicts what is in the probooster manual as it says to remove the headrest if needed to get a proper install, no gap.this email was shared on car-seat.org but not reported to their customers.

The contact owns a recaro coup car seat, model number 322-01-0nys (na), and serial number 500646912. The seat was manufactured on january 8, 2015. The contact stated that the car seat became stuck to the base and was unable to be released. The contact stated that the manufacturer replaced the first car seat with the same model, which also exhibited the same failure. The purchase date was unknown.

The contact owns a recaro signo (na) child seat.the child seat was taken to a technician and he placed an infant sized doll in the seat.the technician stated that the shoulder straps were up to high because they landed next to the doll's ears.the seat was a convertible seat, but was advertised to fit children between 5-70 lbs.the serial number was 7330000955.the failure type, location in the vehicle, and secured method were inapplicable.

Noticed the child car seat head rest was much lower than i had set it.the position of the head rest also affects the position of the shoulder belts.i tried to adjust the head rest and the adjustment knob spun freely.looking at the back of the car seat, the jack screw that adjusts the head rest height became completely disengaged from the head rest causing the head rest to fall to its lowest position.the bracket that holds the jack screw in place had no nuts holding the bracket to the car seat.the failure results in improper position of the head rest and shoulder belts which places the child in significant danger in an accident.

Recaro and diono reps have made statements on different websites stating a requirement of a headrest behind their boosters;the vivo and monterey.they have not sent out official statements to their consumers.if there is a requirement and their boosters will not function properly, then a 'recall' to correct their manuals needs to take place!!
