My brand new car seat (radian xtsl) has a problem with the harness slipping and becoming loose.i was driving down the road (seat is about 2 weeks old) when my 10yr sitting next to my little one asked why his harness was so loose.i had checked the seat when i buckled the little guy in about a mile before and it was nice & tight.i looked back to see 2-3 inches of slack in the harness.we re-adjusted and came home.i refuse to use the seat again until the problem is resolved, a matter of life & death for my child.i am working with the manufacturer to try to resolve this but i do not have a receipt so they are giving me the run-around.

Sunshine kids radian xtsl installed rear facing in 2006 chevy equinox. Solid install with superlatch system, barely 1/4 inch of movement at the belt path, however upon wiggling the shoulder area of the seat with minimal pressure, the superlatch loosened dramatically and the seat was no longer secure. (related vehicle information: model year=2006, make=equinox, model=chevy).

Sunshine kids radian super latch defect.it is installed properly and comes loose very easily! my 20 month old daughter did it with her foot without me knowing it! (related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=gmc, model=terrain).

Superlatch loosening immediately after installation, every time.harness straps slipping and becoming loose/adjuster plate not locking properly approximately 50% of the time.discontinued use of car seat due to lack of safety.(related vehicle information: model year=2004, make=honda, model=pilot).

Radian xtsl super latch strap appears tight (rock solid install that can shake the car)until my 34 lb son sits in the seat and the strap then becomes so loose you can release it with your pinky!(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=focus, model=ford).

My daughter was riding rear facing in her sunshine kids radian 80xtsl. When i looked back in the rear view mirror i noticed that she was wiggling her foot on the latch buckle, and asked he to stop. When we pulled into a parking space and i went to take her out of her seat i noticed that she had actually unlatched the seat simply by pushing on it with her feet! this is dangerous and completely unacceptable! (related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=odyssey, model=honda).

I installed a sunshine kids radian xtsl in my 2006 chevy equinox rear-facing center using the latch system/rear facing tether. A week or so after installing, as my daughter got in the car, i noticed that the latch strap had loosened significantly and that the seat was no longer in tightly. I took my daughter out of the car and re-installed the seat it tightly. I found that i was then able to easily shake the seat as the latch strap loosened. It seemed like the angle that the latch connector hit the car seat prevented the connector from staying in the locked position. I was easily able to tap the connector and see the latch belt loosen. After being unable to get a tight install with the seat belt in any seat position, i switched out the xtsl for my britax blvd. Cs and emailed sunshine kids juvenile products about the issue. They replied promptly and courteously and sent me a new super latch connector. It arrived quickly and i haven't had any problems since.(related vehicle information: model year=2006, make=chevrolet, model=equinox).

I was installing car seats and wanted to install my sunshine kid's radian xtsl (dom 01/2010) to replace another seat that is expiring soon. It's installed in the center rear-facing, and i was sitting in the seat beside it. When i tightened the harness i must have pulled the strap at an angle. It ended up getting tangled up in the left side of the release lever and actually popped the lever out of place.i wrestled with it for a while to get the strap out of the way. When i got it straight i could see where the lever was popped out. I couldn't just push it back in. I knew at this point the seat was probably toast. I used a screwdriver to pry the little metal plate wider and the lever easily slid back into place. It seems to operate normally now. Of course i'm not using the seat.i have contacted diono about it.i sent photos and they said they've never seen that happen before and are sending me a new seat. Photos are available. I am a cpst.

I have experienced what may be a design flaw in the formerly sunshine kids now diono branded children's car seats in which it is so hard to tighten the straps that secure the child in the car seat that many parents are likely to end up leaving their children too loose for the kids to be properly protected in an accident.i have experienced this over six of their seats, in two types of cars, facing forward and facing backward, with their under seat mats and without them, with the absorbing adapter for forward facing kids under 40 lbs and without it, over several different removals and re-installations, and after the installations were reviewed by a certified car seat installer.when the seat is installed, a child is in the seat, and a user tightens the straps to secure the child in the seat, it becomes too difficult to tighten the harness fully.the only way to tighten it is to have it fairly tight, put the child in when it is fairly tight as though it was a race car seat which does not have retractable belts, keep the buckle unlatched and pull on the strap, clip it in to assess how tight it is, then unclip it and pull the strap to tighten and re-clip it.worse yet, i find i have to pull a forward facing seat forward a bit to be able to tighten the strap.the real issue is that it probably leads to parents keeping their children too loose, which puts the child at risk in an accident.i believe the issue is that the connection point where the single strap and double straps (up around the shoulder) connect gets caught between the hard curvature of the underside of the seat and the type of firm seats used on car manufacturers that tend to provide more supportive, firmer seats (such as mercedes).bear in mind that diono is the only primary manufacturer that makes seats that will fit three kids side by side, making it important that their seats not have problems.

While riding rear-facing in her car seat, my daughter put her foot over the side of the seat and accidentally kicked the tilt-release mechanism on the latch strap, causing the strap to loosen several inches. I am a cpst, and i am certain the seat was installed tightly and correctly before she kicked the release. I had heard of this problem happening to other people, so i diligently check my seat each time we use it. I feel the design of the seat and the placement of the tilt-release makes accidental loosening a real danger for anyone using the seat. (related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=dodge, model=ram).

The lower anchor strap on my son's sunshine kids radian xtsl spontaneously loosened with no pressure on the release button or locking device.as a cpst, i check the installation daily, so i know this had been a rock solid installation and the locking device was properly aligned on the shell of the seat (not in or on the edge of the beltpath), prior to the strap spontaneously loosening.(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=tribute, model=mazda).

Sunshine kids radian xtsl carseat with superlatch system, purchased on may 11, 2011, becomes loose after several days of normal usage even though properly installed to start.the seat was manufacturer's in china november 2010, model us19500, serial # 111001985 04329.the seat is installed in a 2008 toyota prius and we are unable to get a secure installation using the seatbelt.when installed using the superlatch system, the seat can be moved several inches in any direction after my child has climbed in and out of the seat over the course of a few days.the company has not yet responded to my complaints.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=toyota, model=prius).

The fastening strap on our car seat that locks the seat belt in the tightened position doesn't always lock.i noticed that my daughter has been able to lower the chest clip and pull her arms out as well as loosenthe straps while we are driving.

Our sunshine kids radian xtsl is not holding at the point of superlatch as it should.after confirming we have a tight install, just a touch, knock, nick, anything to the release tab will loosen the strap to the point of the seat tipping.several times i have gone to take my son out of his seat and his seat is completely loose (even though i check his seat weekly and know it is tightly installed).(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=town and country, model=chrysler).

Sunshine radian 80xtsl superlatch installation becomes loose (by inches) after a proper and tight installation anytime one of the kids' feet touches the top of the tightening belt mechanism. If i push down with just one finger, it will loosen on it's own also. This has occurred almost daily when using the car seats because the kids' feet will touch it and i have to retighten the anchor belt before we leave the house. I have not heard of any recall or replacement parts for this seat.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=accord, model=honda).

Sunshine kids / diono radian xt slradian xtsl car seatpart number 1956867726195688sliding headrest interferes with the shoulder harness in the top slots.there is no locking mechanism to properly secure it in place.when i headrest up to uppermost position, road vibration wiggles it back down to the lowest position and interferes with belt operation.this is clearly a defect.

I own 5 sunshine kids radian xtsl seats.all of them have the same problem.the company has not addressed this issue through a recall or even a mention of it on their website.all of the carseats become loose after proper installation.the belt that is used to tighten the seat has a faulty mechanism that allows the carseat to become so loose that it falls to the side.i can't believe this car seat has not become recalled yet.there has been numerous complaints and even a safety campaign to recall these seats started by parents.if nothing is done i will be contacting my senator.this is getting ridiculous.(related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=honda, model=odyssey).

Radian xtsl by sunshine kids....super latch mechanism coming loose very easily by 2 1/2 year old. (related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=mercedes, model=r class).

I have not heard of any recall or replacement parts for this seat. I have two radian seats, one sits rear facing, the other sits forward facing, both have the same problem.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=accord, model=honda).

The headwings lowered to the lowest position on their own. After removing the seat from the car to adjust the harness straps, i moved the headwings up to the highest position in order to adjust the harness height. I walked away for approximately 20 minutes to eat lunch with the rest of my family (meaning everyone present with me and i know the seat could not be tampered with). I returned to find that the headwings had lowered on their own to the lowest position. The harness position that is now needed is blocked when the headwings are in the lower position. This is of great concern to me for two reasons: 1) because the harness routes under the headwings when in the necessary harness position, i'm concerned that this introduces additional slack into the harness because the harness must route beneath the headwings and back up over the child's shoulders, and 2) i'm concerned the lower "lip" of the eps foam that extends below the "structure" of the headwings will break off due to the upward pressure the harness straps on that piece of foam that will occur when the straps are tightened.

There was no specific incident; the problem recurs spontaneously, without incident.the problem is that the super latch belt loosens significantly on its own after being correctly and tightly installed.it has happened numerous times while installed rear-facing in two different cars.reinstallation did not help, so the manufacturer was contacted to get a new latch belt.i've had the same problems with the new latch belt.unfortunately, the seat does not install well with a seat belt because our cars have stems on the female part of the belts, causing it to interfere with the belt path on the child restraint.this child restraint is therefore unusable for us.(related vehicle information: model year=2011, make=ford, model=flex).

I am having latch buckle loosening on my rear facing radian xtsl in my honda odyssey.the problem occurs no matter what, nothing seems to keep it from happening.it just loosens over a short time (day of driving).

My two-year-old son rides rear-facing in his sunshine kids radian xtsl, installed with superlatch and the rear-facing tether.i am a certified child passenger safety technician, so i know the installation was correct.when my son places his foot on the tilt lock mechanism of the superlatch, it significantly loosens it.it loosens it so much that the child restraint moves more than 1" from side-to-side and front/back.he did this while we were driving.when i had initially placed him in his child restraint, there was a tight installation (i always check), but when we arrived at our destination, it was very loose when i took him out.that's when i noticed that how he puts his foot on the tilt lock mechanism.if we had been in a motor vehicle collision during this time, there is a great chance that he could have been seriously injured or died.i immediately contacted sunshine kids via email.their representative was quick to respond to me and they sent me a replacement superlatch.i have not had any problems with the new superlatch.the representative told me that there have been several reports made about this issue, but that sunshine kids has not been able to "replicate this issue" in their "extensive testing."she said that the new radians made after february 2011 are equipped with the new updated superlatch.they have added a retainer clip to all tilt lock mechanisms on the superlatch which changes the release angle and prevents any loosening.they also offer the updated tilt lock mechanism to any customer who has a concern about their superlatch.i feel that there should be a recall, because there may be many customers who are unaware of this defect.even if the installation is correct when you place your child in the child restraint, the loosening can occur, unknowingly, while you are driving and poses serious risk to passengers.(related vehicle information: model year=2002, make=s60, model=volvo)

We have a radian xtsl child safety seat for our child.it is installed in the second row captain's chair of our 2007 honda odyssey. The seat is tightened appropriately and installed correctly.the latch belt loosens itself in daily use.we have noticed it a couple of different times and now check it routinely.it always loosens.today i removed the the latch strap and installed with the seatbelt.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=honda, model=odyssey).

The crotch buckle separated. Contacted the company. They are mailing out a new one.

The harness adjuster on my radian xtsl was getting stuck open frequently, and i thought it was because the strap was getting stuck or off center, so i would readjust and push it tight. Then one day, the adjuster snapped off on the left side (when staring at the seat from the front) and it sliced my finger to the point that i was gushing blood. I was tightening the harness after putting my child in the seat. The seat became unusable, since there was no tension whatsoever on the harness. I contacted diono, who replaced the seat after i sent them pictures. I am a cpst.

The contact owns a radianxt 19500 convertible child restraint seat, manufactured june 17, 2011. The contact stated that the straps on the child seat could not be secured. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was advised to install smaller straps on the child seat. The contact followed the advisement of the manufacturer however, the remedy did not prevent the failure from recurring. The contact took the child seat to a child seat inspection station to have it installed but the seat was not tested while the child was in the seat. The manufacturer acknowledged to the contact that the issue was common for the particular seat however, advised her that they could provide no assistance because the seat was no longer covered under warranty.

I am a certified cps technician, so i know a fair bit about installing child safety seats correctly.my neighbor recently asked me if he could borrow a child seat for his in-laws' visit.i had an extra seat that i offered to install in his car - a 2006 subaru outback.the seat was a new (less than 2 months old) diono radian rxt.i attempted to install the seat using latch lower anchors, and in the process of tightening the latch belt, the latch connector came loose from the lower anchor.i inspected the latch connector, and the plastic cover was pulled away and bent.when i tried to figure out what had caused this, i noticed that the release button on the latch connector lined up directly with the lip of the seat frame around the latch lower anchor access.when i pulled the belt tight, this part of the seat appears to have activated the release button.i'm glad this failure happened during installation, because i believe it could very easily have occurred during a crash and allowed the crs to come loose, seriously injuring the occupant.also, i noticed that my particular model of seat was not listed as an option in your drop-down menu, so here is the correct information:radianrxtmodel number: 16900serial number: 02120183105046date of manufacture: 02/12(related vehicle information: model year=2006, make=subaru, model=outback)
