The contact owns a 2008 sunshine kids radian 80. The contact stated that the chest strap buckle would not engage (lock), creating a safety hazard. The contact called the manufacturer and was told that the chest strap was not part of the safety restraint system. The manufacturer offered to send a safety clip and because it was not a safety concern, it would be sent through regular mail. The contact stated that the failure was a safety concern and needed to be investigated.

Sunshine radian kids xtslmodel no.19500 car seatserial no. 111004527latch system does not remain tight when installed in vehicleloosens every time..no crash - have stopped using seat until issue can be resolved.(related vehicle information: model year=2004, make=toyota, model=sienna xle).

Radian xtsl convertible child safety seat with superlatch has a latch adjuster that does not allow the installation to remain tight. Even when i have properly installed the seat (as verified by manuals and car seat techs), a simple tap on the tilting adjuster will completely loosen the latch straps, resulting in a seat that is no longer tightly and properly installed! these adjusters need to be recalled and replaced with the locking type that britax, for instance, uses.(related vehicle information: model year=2011, make=honda, model=odyssey).

The latch belt of my radian xtsl is consistently loosening itself.it does not stay tight.the adjuster sits on the edge of the seat when installed rear facing in my '08 odyssey, and the weight of my 34 pound daughter getting in and out of the seat causes the harness to loosen.i tightened it yesterday, and today, there was considerable slack in the belt.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=honda, model=odyssey).

Sunshine kids radian xtsl (child restraint) harness loosening.

I installed my radian80sl rearfacing with latch two days ago -- i am aware of the problems it's been having in certain vehicles so i was extremely cautious to check that it went in tightly, the superlatch strap was not loosening, the adjuster was not on the edge of the belt path, the tab was not easy to push down, etc.the strap was completely tight and i felt i had a vehicle that was free of problems, so i went ahead and used it that way.(i typically use a seatbelt install in a different seating position, but the latch install is easier.)two children have ridden in the seat since then -- 34 & 36lbs -- without incident.today i went to remove the seat, and noted that the superlatch strap was loose.i would guess there was about an inch between the radian itself and the latch adjustor.i do have a photograph if nhtsa would like to see the exact extent of the loosening.i have not yet contacted sunshine kids but will do so shortly.i will also be installing solely with the seatbelt from here on out.(related vehicle information: model year=2006, make=honda, model=pilot).

Have noticed on more than one occasion that the superlatch on our xtsl is loosening to a very unsafe level. It is installed forward-facing and child does not touch that part of the seat getting in or out. When i've checked the security of the seat, it will wobble at the bottom back & forth by 3-5 inches. Tightening it only fixes it temporarily so it isnot an installation problem, it is a failure of the superlatch. I'm very concerned about my child's safety in the event of a car accident.i will be switching the seat back to our other car, a 2010 fusion sel as i did not notice it in that car, but i will be monitoring it very closely.(related vehicle information: model year=2002, make=ford, model=escape).

The harness adjuster doesn't stay down, and my son's harness straps loosen while we're driving.he can not reach it, so he's not disengaging it himself!

Chest buckle broke when it was unclipped to remove child from seat.we have a sunshine kids radian 80.

Carseat was installed rearfacing, in both outboard positions, with latch, no top tether, in a 2007 ford explorer. (2nd row) carseat was installed properly by myself, a cpst, on multiple occasions with little to no movement at the rear facing beltpath. After a period of time, ranging from a few hours to days, the seat will loosen beyond the allowable 1 inch of movement at the beltpath. Many times when child has not been placed in the seat.there is no identifiable reason for the belt to loosen other than the belt slipping through the tightener. The tightener slides extremely easily on the belt in both directions and it takes minimal, if any force to release the silver tab and loosen the latch belt. I have seen this seat loosen about 5 times in my vehicle. I do not let my child ride in it while installed with latch for this reason and i cannot use the seat to its full capacity if the latch belt is defective. I contacted sunshine kids and informed them of the problem and am working with their cost to replicate the problem again. They have offered to replace my current latch belt with another, however this problem is not limited to my latch belt alone. They will be replacing with the same product. For the time being i have declined the new latch belt so that i can wait to seeif it is repairable, or recalled. (related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=ford, model=explorer).

Car seat latch belt slips(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=dodge, model=grand caravan).

I purchased a radian 80slmodel # us18500 about 6 months or so ago and i have had trouble with it coming lose with the latch system and seatbelt. I discontinued using it and had to buy a replacement seat for my 3 year old daughter. I never could get the seatbelt to tighten enough to not move a great amount. The latch system was the same. I drive a yukon 2011. Seat was installed in center and third row.(related vehicle information: model year=2011, make=yukon xl, model=gmc).

The boot falls off when it is supposed to be secured to the base. Also, the harness is hard to adjust, the straps are fraying, and the buckle is hard to undo. Nothing has been replaced, and sunshine kids refuses to talk about it, saying that the seat is safe to use.this seat is supposed to be good for 8 years. It started to get hard to use at only 4 years. I can't see this seat lasting another 3.5 years.

My 4 year old's radian 80sl is installed forward-facing. I tightened the harness like i always do and then pulled a little on the harness to make sure it was snug enough. I noticed the harness seemed to move when i barely pulled on it. I then put each hand on the harness by my son's shoulders and pulled, and the harness pulled straight out of the seat and fully loosened. This is obviously a huge safety concern because if i didn't double-check the harness my son would have been riding in the car with a harness that would have offered zero protection. I have uninstalled the car seat and have not used it since this issue came up last week. I contacted sunshine kids juvenile products and filled out an online form. I was told to give them a call, however, i told them i would prefer written communication because i'd like a record of this situation. I have not heard back yet.

The lower anchor "superlatch" strap on my sunshine kids radian xtsl releases during normal use. The seat is installed rear facing in a grand caravan with latch and after one car ride is dangerously loose. The latch strap is also in a position where a child can bump it with a foot and knock it loose several inches. This happens nearly every day, i have to retighten the latch strap to keep the seat at adequate tightness. Otherwise, there is several inches of movement at the belt path which is dangerous.

I have a sunshine kids radianxt (manuf date sept '09) which i use forward facing in my vehicle. The spring loaded locking mechanism on the harness adjuster has started to randomly disengage, allowing the harness to loosen on it's own.

Diono radian r100 (model# 16600)car seat installed rear facing.the locking mechanism on the harness pull strap comes loose during use and can cause the harness to loosen around the child while the car seat is in use. The silver clasp on the pull strap stays in the "up" or "released" position and ive found the harness looser when we arrived at our destination than it was when i originally tightened it. I am aware this is a known issue with diono and they have not done anything to correct it thus far. This seems to occur every time the seat is used. I do not feel comfortable putting my child in this seat as the loose harness is dangerous. There has been no corrective action from diono that i am aware of.

1. I pulled the harness of the seat tight.2. While standing there, the harness, just went "foomp" and then was super loose!3.i retightened, the harness stayed tight.i have checked since and it still stays tight.the car seat information is not available to choose on the next few screens, so here is the correct information:sunshine kids radian 65slserial number 041003369date of manufacture4/2010model us516500.

I installed my radian xtsl, made by sunshine kids, forward facing in my car, using superlatch about a week ago. I correctly installed the seat, no movement and top tethered. When i came home from picking up my kid today, the seat was incredibly loose, with over five inches of movement. Because of the superlatch's new design, the latch easily loosens if it is sitting against the car seat at a certain angle because it's a "lift" mechanism to loosen (think of it as a locking latchplate), rather than a physical metal button you have to push (like their old latch style on non-superlatch seats). When i realized how incredibly wrong the seat was now installed, i was devastated. I had just driven an entire hour on a four-lane interstate with a dangerous seat because the latch mechanism had loosened. As a cpst, i am very much aware that my seat was installed correctly, prior to this incident. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a major design flaw, because after researching this issue, i see that i am not the only person that it has happened to. Sunshine kids' way of "fixing" this problem is to send a regular, non-sl latch set to the consumer. This is unacceptable. In case you aren't aware, superlatch allows you to install the car seat up to the car seat's weight limit, rather than the vehicle's latch limit, provided the car is manufactured after 9-1-05. This is due to a redesign of the latch connectors, making them more able to withstand higher crash forces. If sunshine kids is sending out latch straps that are not physically able to withstand crash forces up to the maximum weight of the car seat, what happens when a parent reads their manual and the stickers on the side of the car seat and sees that you are allowed to use latch up to the radian's limit? the radian's weight limit is 65 or 80 pounds of just the child's weight. That parent isn't going to realize that (s)he can no longer do this anymore (because she has a non-sl strap). Major flaw. Major.

Sunshine kids updated the user guides for the radian 80 and 65 to reflect a 35 lb rear facing limit last year and the promotional material attached to the seats states the same. However, the stickers on the side still state a 33 lb rear facing limit.

I have a "radian" child restraint made by sunshine kids.the manual states that the rear facing weight limit is 35 pounds; however, the sticker on the side of the seat says the seat is rear facing to 33 pounds.i want to safely be able to rear face my child for as long as possible but without knowing what the actual weight limit on the seat is, i am unable to safely do this.

"super latch" strap loosens repeatedly with normal use, leaving the seat poorly installed despite initial installation by experienced, formerly-certified cps tech, that left it rock-solid.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=honda, model=odyssey).

The harness straps in my diono radian rxt model 16900 are coming loose during travel, i think defect from the cam lock.by time i arrive at our destination, and i retrieve my child from the seat, the harness straps are much looser than when i buckled her in.i have had this problem with 2 dionos. First seat was bought in dec 2013, i noticed the problem within the a few weeks of use.the cam lock would not stay down all the way.i contacted diono in march after i met with a car seat tech and made sure it was the seat, not user error. After 7 wks of dealing with diono, they finally agreed to send a replacement which i got in may.in june, i noticed the replacement seat was doing the same thing, loosening during travel after i tightened the harness on my child. Although, the cam lock was working fine at first on this one, it eventually stopped locking all the way. I contacted diono, they had me meet with another tech.he moved the shoulder straps up "at her shoulders? (she is rear facing) saying that would help.it has not helped.all the straps are in the correct adjustments for her size, there is no gap in the crotch, but the harness still loosens on it's on.there has not been any damage to the car seat whatsoever. I spend 10 mins working all the slack out, feeding from the back, tightening, pulling the crotch, tightening, pull on the chest, tightening, she's in tight! we get to our destination and the harness is loose. Dionos response was "the kid settles in the seat and creates slack". I also believe when my kid kicks her feetshe is able to kick the cam and it causes the it to lift and let out slack.if so, it's a poor and unsafe design. They have been reluctant to admit there's any issue. Upon research i have found this is an issue with their seats.this same issue has been reported to nhtsa, car seat blogs and other places! not sure why it hasn't triggered a recall. I do not feel safe using this seat.

Super latch strap of sunshine kids radian xtsl is loosening over time and must constantly be double checked or reinstalled securely. I am a cpst and do not trust this seat to remain securely and correctly installed. The normal latch strap made by skjp (sunshine kids juvenille products) has a push-button release mechanism to allow the strap to be loosened. The superlatch strap has a metal tab that must only be lifted- and can be bumped by children's feet or will come loose on it's own over time. (related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=toyota, model=sequoia).

I have a radian xtsl that has a defective harness adjuster. The harness will not stay tight.also, the super latch strap loosens very easily.i have to check the install every time i use the seat.i must be reitightened before every use.

Super latch belt on my radian xtsl (nitro) loosens very easily. We have 2 xtsl seats 1 in flora and one in nitro. The flora seat does not have this issue. The install for these seats are perfect and exactly the same, both installed with sl and both are rear facing installed outboard. However i can jiggle the nitro xtsl seat near the belt path and the sl becomes unsafely loose.(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=chevrolet, model=cobalt).

I installed my daughter's sunshine kid's radian (skr) rear facing in my '05 chevy trailblazer outboard behind the driver's seat about 2/3 weeks ago.today when i was going to put my daughter in her seat i noticed that the latch strap was hanging so loose that i could fit my fist in there. When her seat was installed it was so tight it didn't move. Model # us19500 manufacture date 09/10(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=chevy, model=trailblazer).

The adjuster on the "super latch" of my radian 80sl car seat is very easily loosened and cannot be trusted to keep my car seat safely installed in my car.(related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=hyundai, model=sonata).

My rear-facing 2.5 year old is able to loosen the tilt-lock mechanism that is supposed to tighten the latch strap on my radian 65sl with his foot. He presses down on it while i'm driving and it becomes loose. I feel that this is a safety hazard. (related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=rdx, model=acura).

Purchased a sunshine kids radian xtsl and installed it rearfacing in the back center seat of a 2010 kia optima.the latch loosens by itself, this was/is installed properly.(related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=optima, model=kia).

Hello, i recently purchased a sunshine kids radian xtsl carseat two months ago (march 2010) and the cover is starting to get holes itand the buckle shield is frailing apart. I haven't done anything to make this happen as i have only had it a short time. I was told to report this information to you.

I purchased a sunshine kids radian xt carseat in june. The dom is 12/08, but it was a brand-new seat when i purchased it. It has been in use for less than two months, but the stickers (warning, proper use, faa, etc.) are all melting off of the seat. Some have already fallen off, while others are becoming illegible while they are melting off. This seat has only been in use for less than two months and has a seven-year "life." it is unacceptable to me that most of the warning stickers and proper use stickers are already either missing or illegible. I contacted sunshine kids juvenile products, the manufacturer, and requested new stickers for my seat. I was informed that they do not issue new stickers. I am quite upset by this. I posted pictures on my carseat board and one of the cpsts on the board suggested that i contact nhtsa to file a complaint. Pictures of the problem can be found here: http://www.car-seat.org/showpost.php?p=938134&postcount=15.

Sl latch strap loosening(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=sedona, model=kia).

Sunshine kids radian xtsl latch loosens itself. Two times i've gone to put my 2 year old into her seat and the latch has had at least 2 inches of slack!! please fix this!!(related vehicle information: model year=2009, make=toyota, model=highlander).

I have a sunshine kids radian 80sl.model us18500.serial 090900106 03565.my latch strap does not remain tight.i can loosen it with one finger, which means my daughter climbing in and out can bump it and loosen it.it also has loosened over time on it's on.when i first install it, it is a completely rock solid install, but if you pull back and forth on the seat a few times you can feel it loosening.i do not feel like my daughter is safe in this seat in a crash.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=toyota, model=highlander).

I got a new sunshine kids radian xtsl (model #us19500, manuf date 12/10) last week and i have noticed the harness is looser when i take my baby out than when we put her in. Yesterday when i tugged on it to check the harness it pulled all the way through. I think the adjuster lever is getting stuck in the open position after we tighten it. I have been checking it when i put her in to make sure it is closed since i noticed the problem. It is installed rear facing.

Sunshine kids radian65 car seat.the plastic shell around the seat is bent it looks like it has been crushed but it has never been used outside the car.i spoke to russ at sunshine kids right after i noticed it, he said is was safe to use with the crushed plastic but didn't offer an explanation as to why the seat came to me so or as to what could have happened to it to cause the damage.

I own a sunshine kids radian xtsl which was installed rfing in our 2005 toyota corolla using the "super latch" latch strap which is supposedly able to be used until my child reaches 80 lbs (the maximum weight limit of the seat).due to the way the buckle on the strap is, when my son's foot hit the buckle part of the latch strap, it loosened to the point i could move the seat several inches at the belt path.i reinstalled with the seatbelt to avoid this from happening again, but that is kind of annoying being that one reason i bought this seat was for the "super latch" feature.i just feel it is not safe to continue using the latch since my son can so easily touch it with his foot.(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=corolla, model=toyota).

My convertible child restraint comes equipped with a latch strap with a stated limit of 80 lbs (superlatch).when i install the seat using the superlatch strap, i am repeatedly finding that within two days of normal use, the installation becomes significantly looser-sometimes as much as 2-3 inches of movement. As a child passenger safety technician, i am confident that the seat is installed correctly and tightly to begin with.i know that i am not the only person reporting this for this seat.i have also had the superlatch clip/hook mechanism come detached from my vehicle's latch anchor bars several times, despite hearing an audible click when installing the seat and pulling on the strap to ensure proper attachment at the time on installation.the superlatch strap adjuster is failing to maintain tightness and the connectors are not remaining securely attached to the latch bars, both of which are unacceptable.the manufacturer's "solution" is to install with the vehicle belt and/or replace the original superlatch strap with a standard 40-48 lb latch strap.(related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=nissan, model=sentra).

I own 2 sunshine kids radian xstl car seats.both seats were purchased at the same time and are installed next to the window seats in my 2007 nissan altima.both superlatch belts loosen themselves when attached to the latch system in the car.i am appalled!my children have not been safely secured due to this!i have installed and uninstalled both seats many times and make sure the seats are installed securely each time.the belt that tightens the superlatch hits right at the belt path and will tightened when installing, but loosens easily even when it is not touched.i want my children safe!(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=altima, model=nissan).

Chest clip broke when unbuckling my daughter from her seat.part was replaced by sunshine kids very quickly at no cost.

I have a radian 65 (original, not sl), and i noticed yesterday that all of the warning labels and dom stickers are peeling off.it was manufactured 8/09, so less than 2 years old.skjp informed me that the labels were not necessary, but i believe they are according to regulations.

This is for a sunshine kids radian xtsl car seat.i am very capable of installing car seats correctly so i know that the car seat was installed per the manufacturers instructions.the car seat was installed rear facing with latch with less than 1/2" of movement.it had been properly installed and tight for over a month.on this day when i went to buckle my child in i noticed that the latch strap had loosened considerably to the point where the car seat was leaning to one side and could move freely at the belt path.i re-tightened the latch strap and it again felt tight.this is the 3rd time this has happened to me with this car seat in my car.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=honda, model=odyssey).

I own two sunshine kids superlatch radians (65sl) [model: us16500, dom 12/09, serial # 12090124403603]. I have installed them both rear facing and forward facing in my 2007 toyota sienna with latch. Initially, the installs appear to be tight and not move more than 1 inch in any direction. The latch strap on both car seats "self" loosen while the child rides in the seat. I am able to replicate the issue with every use regardless if seat is rear facing or forward facing. I have contacted sunshine kids to report the problem and was not given a solution to my complaint. I am currently certified as a child passenger safety technician. My fear is, the seat appears to be correctly installed and compatible with the vehicle but then it becomes compromised during/after use. Issue: adjustment buckle on the latch strap loosens over time.

I have a radian xtsl carseat.when used rear-facing with latch in my vehicle (an '09 chevy express), the latch strap loosens by itself creating a hazard for my child in the event of an accident.the angle that the latch strap locking mechanism sits against the carseat leaves it in an "open" position, meaning the belt can freely loosen.i called skjp and they are trying to figure out how to fix the problem, but weren't sure how to at the time of our call.the person i spoke to specified that this issue was the only one of this exact type that he was aware of.i know this is false information since i know of many other people who have lodged complaints with him for this exact reason.

I have a sunshine kids radian that i bought last year around may 09. It is a sunshine kids radian xt. The stickers are falling off of it. I haven't done anything to make them fall of such as spills or anything they are just falling off. I have emailed the website but have not received any response on this. I was told to report this to here because of the "defect" on the carseat seeing how it isn't old and shouldn't be falling off. Thank you.

Upon picking up my child from daycare today, i inspected her carseat.i found the "superlatch" latch strap was visibly loose.i checked for movement at the belt path and found approx 2" of movement.i immediately tightened it down and checked for movement again.there was no movement.i put my child in her seat and adjusted the harness.i then put my other child in his carseat.afterwards, i checked the beltpath of my daughter's radian xtsl again.by this point there was abt 0.5" movement (still an acceptable install, but looser than it had been less than 2 minutes earlier).i tightened it down again and drove my children home (abt 4 miles or 10 minutes).upon arriving home, i noticed that the sl latch strap was visibly loose again.when i checked it at the belt path, there was abt 1.5" movement (more than the 1" of an "acceptable" install).since i do not know what is causing the loosening, nor how to stop it from happening, i have reinstalled the carseat using my vehicle's seatbelt.i will not risk my child's life by using the seat improperly installed.the carseat is a sunshine kids radian xtsl, model number us 19500 (not available as a choice on the next page of this form) and was manufactured in 10/09.it is installed rear-facing, passenger outboard, in a 2011 vw jetta sportwagen.(related vehicle information: model year=2011, make=volkswagen, model=jetta sportwagen).

Installed my sunshine kids radian xtsl outboard in '02 chevy trailblazer with latch (rearfacing). Went back later to attach top tether and noticed seat moved quite a bit. Grabbed it at belt path and was able to loosen severely with very little effort. Thought maybe it was loose to begin with and reinstalled it. I was able to get it to loosen again with very little effort. As a result i'm currently using a back-up seat. (related vehicle information: model year=2002, make=trailblazer, model=chevy).

Super latch strap continually loosens. Seat has been installed by cpst and when barely touched, the adjuster buckle loosed to a very dangerous point. Seat became extremely mobile while latch was still connected. I have two radian xtsl seats. One child is barely 20lbs, and the other is 35lbs. (related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=tribute, model=mazda).

I've been having problems with my sunshine kids radian 80sl's straps coming loose while we're driving. I've made sure the thing to loosen them is completely down and my child can not reach it. I have the straps tight before we leave the house and when we get to our destination, they are loose enough for me to stick my whole arm though. I've contacted skjp and have yet to hear a response back. I had the same problem with my other radian 80sl, but the company had me send in the old seat and replaced it with this one.

When installing our brand new sunshine kids radian xtsl we found that just touching the metal buckle tightener on the super latch strap causes it to loosen.our child can also reach her foot over the edge and loosen it.it is not safe to install in our vehicle (2006 4runner) with their new super latch adjuster that can very easily be loosened.(related vehicle information: model year=2006, make=toyota, model=4runner).

I have a sunshine kids radian xtsl installed with latch rear facing in my honda odyssey.due to the location of the release lever for the latch strap, my son is able to easily loosen the strap with his foot while we are driving.it also loosens if he accidentally hits it with his food when climbing into the seat.as a cpst, i feel that this is a major design flaw. While i am well aware that i can install the seat using the seat belt, superlatch is a major selling feature of the radian line, and it is defective in my car.the strap should not be so easy to loosen.i can do it with the light touch of just one finger.please make sunshine kids address the dangerous and potentially fatal issue. (related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=odyssey, model=honda).

Sunshine kids radian 80sl convertible car seat.when installed rear-facing with latch, the adjuster mechanism ends up on the edge of the belt path, preventing the belt from staying tight, even without any interference.it can cause a person to think that the seat is tightly installed when it is not.the only solution is to install with the seat belt.(related vehicle information: model year=2006, make=ford, model=explorer).

Seat installed rearfacing with super latch loosened excessively and dramatically when pushed/pulled.initially there was no slack over very little slack, and it became inches of slack as the entire seat rocked back and forth.had the child in the seat not been belted in, he could have easily fallen out of the car.the seat was retightened and the same process was easily repeated.the seat was reinstalled forward-facing, diminishing the protection offered to the child (rearfacing is 5x safer), so that the child could be safely transported home.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=honda, model=odyssey).

I had taken my car seat out to vacuum my car, and noticed that there was a break where the ff recline for the seat is, under where the rf boot is locked in.

I have a sunshine kids juvenile products brand radian xtsl.there have been four occurrences, including today specifically, the latch connector straps have loosened on their own after proper, correct and tight installation through normal use.this poses a great safety hazard to my daughter and this product is a danger when used with latch.this seat is under 1 year old and has been in use for under 1 year, the seat is in good shape, and has never been in an accident.it is installed rear facing and is being used with a child that is 30 lbs and 37 inches tall, well within guidelines for use of latch and for rear facing for this seat according to the manufacturer.there is no reason the latch should be loosening on its own with careful and correct use and installation, and is highly concerning that it would pose this kind of danger.the information off of our seat is as follows:model number: 19500, date of manufacture: 12/2009, date of purchase: march 2010.the actions taken to correct the failure have been to re-tighten the straps, however this is only a temporary solution, as the straps are not correctly retained in a tight or locked position (as seen by the self-loosening action).my concern is that the force of an accident would cause the straps to loosen mid-impact on their own and not restrain a child.(related vehicle information: model year=2009, make=honda, model=cr-v).

The car seat has a long tether with no retention device.with the tether in use and the seat rear facing, the excess length of the tether was long enough to extend outside the vehicle with the door closed on it.when the vehicle started moving, the tether entered the rear wheel well, causing a jerk to the seat, visible damage to the tether, and a potential of structural damage to the seat (according to the manufacturer's engineering department) that caused it to be unfit for further use.this occurred at moderate speed on a surface street; the consequences if the vehicle had been on a higher speed road or highway might have been more severe.please note that the model number in the drop-down menu (10600) does not exactly match the actual model number of the child seat (16600).however, it was the closest match.the seat is a radianr100 convertible car seat, model, 16600, manufactured by diono llc.

When installed in a 2004 impala, my radian xtsl will not remain tightly installed with the superlatch strap.the release mechanism sits at such an angle that my older toddler can easily bump it with his foot and release it, creating a completely unsafe installation.(related vehicle information: model year=2004, make=chevrolet, model=impala).

Normal use of car seat results in fraying or peeling of harness at the latch plates where harness threads through it.

I have a radian xtsl car seat that will not stay tightly installed in my 2008 toyota sienna when installed with latch in either the ff or rf position. I install it correctly, but due to the angle the loosening mecehanism hits the seat it continually becomes loose. I noticed this when i pulled on the strap to tighten the harness and the entire seat lifted off my vehicle seat.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=toyota, model=sienna)

Was unbuckling my child from the car seat and the top piece of the harness clip broke off in my hand.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=radian premier, model=c18500).

This complaint is a follow-up to my previous complaint, odi #10394383 regarding my radian 65sl, serial #120900960 03603. Despite my having proper installation verified by several cpsts, the manufacturer continues to insist that the only problem is that i am not tightening the belt enough.this is not the case as evidenced in this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te4c6yku8_wthey have sent me two replacement latch belts that have done the exact same thing.the first replacement they claimed did not work because "an intern in the warehouse took it out of a box of defective belts."eventually, i sent all 3 belts back for "further testing."i was informed by their customer service that there was nothing wrong with any of the belts, and that they were sending me back the original replacement to reinstall. Upon reinstallation, it functions exactly the same -- it can be loosened by my 2.5 year old's foot while he is properly restrained in the seat. This is not an acceptable resolution to the problem.the belt they sent me back the second time was the same one that was supposedly from "the defect box in the warehouse."i know because i recorded the serial numbers of each belt they sent me.this belt serial number is ssk -000306-sb-08, lot# 09j1, dom 10/09.i feel that the manufacturer is trying to cover up this problem so as to avoid a costly government investigation.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=acura, model=rdx).

We received a radian 65 cracked in the main part of the carseat. Since then have noticed alot of mommies with cracked radians some of these are replaced and some refused. These seats are not safe in damaged and the damage is happening before use. Sunshine kids needs to do something before someone is hurt.

We recently purchased a sunshine kids radian car seat for use by our 2 year old daughter.we tried to install it in a 1995 jeep cherokee in the rear side seat, which has lap-shoulder seat belt.we followed the installation instructions.however, the seat is not safe.there is no way to get it tight enough and moves a tremendous amount.it is my impression that this seat can only be safely installed with the latch system.

Latch strap loosens by itself(related vehicle information: model year=2004, make=elantra, model=hyundai).

We bought a sunshine kids radian xtsl car seat in july 2010. We installed it using a seat belt in our 2010 toyota sienna. The seat seemed fine until we tried installing it with latch this past month. The seat kept coming loose. It would have less than 1" movement at the belt path when we began our trip and by the time we got home, would be much more than 1", probably a couple inches. We thought perhaps it was our son kicking the latch tightener, but this past weekend, we had to use latch with it for our youngest child. She cannot reach the latch tightener at all and the seat kept coming loose again.the seat model is 19556 and wasn't listed in the options when filing this complaint. Serial number is [xxx]. (related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=toyota , model=sienna).

Sunshine kids radian65.the lever that holds the adjuster strap on the front of the seat would not go back down.this left the harness loose, and it would loosen whenever my child moved.i could pull the harness completely loose after putting her in the seat and tightening it.

We have used our sunshine kids radian 80sl carseat since december.it was pointed out to me that our superlatch system may be defective.i went and looked at our seat and sure enough our carseat has a superlatch issue.the tightening belt on the superlatch can be loosened at the press of my pinky.this loosens the seat which is connected by the latch.i am in the process of getting the issue corrected.(related vehicle information: model year=2009, make=corolla, model=toyota ).

This complaint is on the sunshine kids super-latch component of my radian car seat. The super latch becomes loose after a couple days of normal use. I then have to retighted for a correct installation. There is a nice super tight install and with my 35 lbs child sitting in it correctly, the latch becomes loose making the carseat very unsafe. The dom is 10/09. Lot # 0911. Pn# ssk-000306-sb-08. The selection for my model number is not offered. The car seat model # is us19000. Manufactuing date is 08/08 and the serial number is 08080052802691. I did not see a place to put the correct information further on in the form. Sunshine kids send me the super latch as a replacement part for my original latch that became tangled and unusable. They did not offer the original latch as a replacement and sent the super latch instead. I contacted sunshink kids to inquired about a new replacement super latch due to the loosening problem and they were happy to send me a replacement for one of my seats. They however, did not offer to preventatively replace my other carseat that was not yet experiencing the same installation problem. I feel that a recal should be made on the super-latch due to the growing number of people experiencing the same problem.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=dodge, model=magnum).

1) strap connecting latches has twisted and kinked, making it impossible to correctly use latches. However seat can still be safely installed with seatbelt2) chest clip on seat broke while in use(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=accord, model=honda).

I have the sunshine kids radian sl car seat. The superlatch belt features a tilt/lock mechanism that falls against the corner of the belt path in many vehicles, resulting in an inability to lock. This could cause the child restraint to fail to function in a crash, possibly resulting in injury or death. Many parents might not notice this happening and may trust the superlatch belt. After contacting sunshine kids customer service, i was told to keep trying to tighten it. I have discussed this with other owners of this car seat who experience the same problem and are unable to solve it by continuing to "keep trying." (related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=ford, model=freestyle).

I have 2 of the same seats: sunshine kids radin 80slwhole in 1 d-ringboth buckle covers fell apartboth harnesses have frayed-but they only replaced one.snug harness falling off or sliding down the shouldersometimes crotch buckle will not buckle at first. I have to make several attempts to buckle them.

I have a radian 80sl that has a defective harness tightener.the harness will not stay tight.

When installing my radian80sl with superlatch, i checked for movement at the belt path and the superlatch straps very easily loosened. More than one attempt was made to get an acceptable install using the superlatch, but it loosened each time, leaving more than 1" of movement and an unacceptable install. I do not feel my child would be safely protected by this seat in the event of a car accident. I have been able to get an acceptable install using the seat belt. I am very disappointed in skjp for not issuing a recall on this product, as it is not safe. I have heard numerous other reports of this same problem. Paying over $200 for a car seat to keep my child safe, i do not expect to get a defective and unsafe product. Being able to rf to 45 pounds, rf tether and be able to fit 3 across with this seat are great features but are worthless if the seat isn't safely installed. Unfortunately, there are probably many owners of this seat that are unaware of this problem. Skjp needs to issue a recall! install was in a 2009 toyota camry. Superlatch on my radian xtsl came undone at some point between buckling my child in and right after our car crash.(related vehicle information: model year=2001, make=honda, model=odyssey).

The super latch belt on my sunshine kids radian xtsl loosens far too easily. Driving, bumping the seat, even just putting my daughter in her seat made it loosen. I can't imagine what it would do in an accident. Had to install using the seat belt.2008 chevy malibu 2lt(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=chevrolet, model=malibu).

The design of the sunshine kids radian xtsl latch strap causes it to come loose when using the seat rear-facing in my 2007 ford freestyle.when tightened so that there is less than 1 inch of movement in the seat, the latchplate is at an angle where it will not stay tight.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=ford, model=freestyle).

Our radian 65 has been used 4 months,we have been having trouble daily unbuckling our 4 yr old. The buckle gets stuck often. Also, the crotch buckle digs into her thighs causing brushing and soreness, the coverseat is fraying already. This is upsetting as she should have 2 more years in this carseat.,and it is not holding up well at all. If there was an emergency i am terrified i might not be able to get my daughter unbuckled in time. I have asked around to see if other moms are also having this issue and was told yes, some were.this was an expensive carseat and i refuse to accept this type of product. I emailedsunshine kids 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back from them on my concerns. My daughter is being hurt by the hardness that buckles into the crotch strap.

Chest clip broke when unbuckling my daughter from her seat.part was replaced by sunshine kids very quickly at no cost.

I have 2 of the same seats: sunshine kids radin 80slwhole in 1 d-ringboth buckle covers fell apartboth harnesses have frayed-but they only replaced one.snug harness falling off or sliding down the shouldersometimes crotch buckle will not buckle at first. I have a radian xtsl that has a defective harness adjuster. The harness will not stay tight.also, the super latch strap loosens very easily.i have to check the install every time i use the seat.i must be reitightened before every use.

1) strap connecting latches has twisted and kinked, making it impossible to correctly use latches. However seat can still be safely installed with seatbelt2) chest clip on seat broke while in use(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=accord, model=honda).

I have a sunshine kids radianxt (manuf date sept '09) which i use forward facing in my vehicle. The spring loaded locking mechanism on the harness adjuster has started to randomly disengage, allowing the harness to loosen on it's own.

Normal use of car seat results in fraying or peeling of harness at the latch plates where harness threads through it.

Chest buckle broke when it was unclipped to remove child from seat.we have a sunshine kids radian 80.

I own two radian65 child car seats manufactured by sunshine kids juvenille products. One of them has been in use for 3-4 months and the other has been in use for only a few weeks. On the one that has been in use for several months, the edges of the harness straps are starting to fray. I assume this is being caused by the fact that the belt path through the buckle tongue is much too narrow for the width of the harness straps.this fraying will continue as the car seat is used, and i can forsee over time that it will compromise the integrity of the harness straps if it has not already.

On two occasions my 2 1/2 yr old reached between his legs and released the strap lock (?) that keeps the harness tight enabling him to lean forward and completely loosen the harness.the retailer that sold me the car seat said that she would contact the company and i emailed them on my own but i have not had any response.

Sunshine kids radian65.the lever that holds the adjuster strap on the front of the seat would not go back down.this left the harness loose, and it would loosen whenever my child moved.i could pull the harness completely loose after putting her in the seat and tightening it.

Noticed today that the harness strap on a radian65 model #16590 carseat manufactured in 07/06 by sunshine kids juvenile inc is showing what i believe to be excessive wear with only 6 months of use. One side appears to be fraying/fuzziness. I am concerned this might lead to harness failure at some point in the future.

The contact owns a diono radian rxt convertible child seat (n.a), model number 16900, and manufacturer in may 2012. The contact stated that the harness cam lock stayed open when attempting to tighten the chest tether causing it to stay loose. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was no longer using the car seat.

I have 2 of the same seats: sunshine kids radin 80slwhole in 1 d-ringboth buckle covers fell apartboth harnesses have frayed-but they only replaced one.snug harness falling off or sliding down the shouldersometimes crotch buckle will not buckle at first. I have a radian 80sl that has a defective harness tightener.the harness will not stay tight.

Sunshine kids radian xtsl (child restraint) harness loosening.

The harness adjuster doesn't stay down, and my son's harness straps loosen while we're driving.he can not reach it, so he's not disengaging it himself!

Car seat latch belt slips(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=dodge, model=grand caravan).

I have a radian xtsl car seat that will not stay tightly installed in my 2008 toyota sienna when installed with latch in either the ff or rf position. I noticed this when i pulled on the strap to tighten the harness and the entire seat lifted off my vehicle seat.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=toyota, model=sienna)

The superlatch loosens as soon as you touch the adjuster or bump the seat.it does not lock at all in my vehicle.(related vehicle information: model year=2009, make=subaru, model=forester).

Latch strap loosens by itself(related vehicle information: model year=2004, make=elantra, model=hyundai).

The adjuster on the "super latch" of my radian 80sl car seat is very easily loosened and cannot be trusted to keep my car seat safely installed in my car.(related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=hyundai, model=sonata).

Sunshine kids radian xtsl latch loosens itself. Two times i've gone to put my 2 year old into her seat and the latch has had at least 2 inches of slack!! please fix this!!(related vehicle information: model year=2009, make=toyota, model=highlander).

Superlatch on my radian xtsl came undone at some point between buckling my child in and right after our car crash.(related vehicle information: model year=2001, make=honda, model=odyssey).

Purchased a sunshine kids radian xtsl and installed it rearfacing in the back center seat of a 2010 kia optima.the latch loosens by itself, this was/is installed properly.(related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=optima, model=kia).

The eps foam portion of my carseat's lower back support cracked and came out of the carseat- sunshine kids juvenile products is refusing to fix it - they said "just glue it back in"- i am concerned that the adhesive they use on these carseats isn't compatible with az weather and needs to be further investigated.

Hello, i recently purchased a sunshine kids radian xtsl carseat two months ago (march 2010) and the cover is starting to get holes itand the buckle shield is frailing apart. I haven't done anything to make this happen as i have only had it a short time. I was told to report this information to you.

I had taken my car seat out to vacuum my car, and noticed that there was a break where the ff recline for the seat is, under where the rf boot is locked in.

We received a radian 65 cracked in the main part of the carseat. Since then have noticed alot of mommies with cracked radians some of these are replaced and some refused. These seats are not safe in damaged and the damage is happening before use. Sunshine kids needs to do something before someone is hurt.

"super latch" strap loosens repeatedly with normal use, leaving the seat poorly installed despite initial installation by experienced, formerly-certified cps tech, that left it rock-solid.(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=honda, model=odyssey).

The superlatch loosens as soon as you touch the adjuster or bump the seat.it does not lock at all in my vehicle.(related vehicle information: model year=2009, make=subaru, model=forester).

I have a radian 65 (original, not sl), and i noticed yesterday that all of the warning labels and dom stickers are peeling off.it was manufactured 8/09, so less than 2 years old.skjp informed me that the labels were not necessary, but i believe they are according to regulations.
