Chest buckle on infant carseat does not close.manufacturer offered to send new part but said it would take 7-9 business days.their solution in the meantime was to attempt to shove it in so that it would close more.after i complained about the solution and not being able to stay home until the part arrived they offered to send it within 1-2 business days but reiterated their suggestion that i try to make it work. Two separate representatives from the company told me the same thing.i am appalled that a manufacturer would suggest such a thing at the risk of a child's safety.i have asked for a full refund on the car seat and matching stroller but have been told they do not issue refunds.

My 30 pound 2.5 year old was riding in her peg perego viaggio convertible car seat when she pulled out the seat's shoulder strap where it connects to the bottom/seat of the car seat.the strap was not broken, but she somehow pulled the whole thing out.i contacted peg perego about this and their response was if the seat was put back together, then it was safe.how can a seat that a 2.5 year old can tear apart be safe in a crash with forces far greater than she can possibly exert?

This is a copy of the complaint that i emailed to peg perego:i purchased the peg perego primo viaggio about three months ago for my daughter from babies r'us in meridian, idaho. Tonight, while she was in her car seat, she began crying inconsolably. When we took her out to comfort her, we noticed large cuts near her achilles' tendon on her left leg and a great quantity of blood covering the car seat, originating near the plastic element that surrounds the strap that is pulled to tighten the restraints. It is obvious that she has scraped her legs on this plastic element. The product is in its original condition with no modifications; her injury is the result of a design oversight. We have discontinued the use of your product. I was unable to find any recall information on this product. I have pictures documenting both the damage to my daughters leg and the blood on the car seat, if you would find these useful. Nick belluzzo

A small white plastic connector piece broke off from the canopy/hood/sun cover of my child's peg perego primo viaggo sip infant seat and she got it lodged in her mouth throat while in the seat in our moving car. She was screaming and i pulled over to find her choking on half the small almost butterfly shaped piece. I removed the piece from her mouth and saw the canopy was not attached to the seat on one side. At home i looked at the other side of the canopy. The white piece is the part that clicks to hold the canopy in it various positions of up and down. The canopy became dislodged and this piece fell out of the mechanism.

On 04/15/2008 while performing a car seat inspection, the car seat owner and i noticed a broken part of the base of the peg prego primo viagio 30/30.since he needed two inspections of the same model seat, we inspected the other seat and we noticed it was cracked in the same location where the first one was broken.the bases in question were manufactured on 11/5/2007 (7720156) and 11/6/2007(772032) respectively.i am making this report as a concern technician.

Consumer complaint concerning the primo viaggio infant carseat. While driving the consumer's 11 week old child's head flopped forward as she slept.when she woke she could not lift her head because it was caught under the side head cushion. The child seat sits too upright which caused the newborns head to flop forward.the seat was properly install and level according to the leveling devise built into the seat.the child became hysterical while her head was stuck under the cushion.the consumer believed that she could not breathe.the consumer had to pull to the side of the road to lift the child's head and adjust the seat.

For weeks my 3 month old son was cutting his legs on a sharp plastic part on his infant seat.at first we were unable to determine what was causing the lacerations but after a long car ride we realized that the plastic cover on the tension strap located on the seat was responsible.we contacted the company and they informed us that they were aware of the problem although they were not notifying customers or recalling the seat. They said they would send a revised cover to solve the problem.three months later, we still have not received the part and we have been unable to use the faulty dangerous seat.over the course of four weeks my son was injured by this defect repeatedly.he has scars on his ankles and calves from the lacerations.

Http://www.boston.com/yourlife/family/blog/2007/05/more_on_toxicit.htmli am writing in concern about the toxicity of car seats.this is appalling to me that no one governs these manufacturers, especially when there are millions of children using car seats.we just finished using one of the ones listed as bad for my son's infant seat, and i haven't seen a recall on peg perego's website.we moved into the britax convertible seat, but it's not the one listed as the worst.who can parents turn to for help?we need to protect our children and not have to worry about if the one thing designed to keep them safe in a car might kill them!

I was tightening the strap on my sons carseat ( peg perego viaggio 5-70) when a plastic piece broke off the seat and now i can no longer use the seat. They do not have a 24/7 hotline and the store i bought from went out of business so i am now without a carseat and wasted $300 + tax on a seat i only used for 6 months.

Peg perego car seat expiration date ink rubbed off and is illegible. I cannot tell when the car seat expires. I suggest the date be stamped into the plastic to avoid this issue. I reported the issue to peg perego and they did not care. *as....no vin available updated 10/29/18

I purchased the peg perego primo viaggio sip car seat prior to my child's birth on 6/18/07.he is now almost 13 weeks old and i am very distressed about the safety of this car seat.the car seat has been installed properly according to the directions and the level is in the green area as indicated.the problem with the car seat is that it does not recline enough to keep the infants head from falling forward.i have tried everything imaginable to correct this problem including buying an insert and using blankets to support his head and nothing seems to work.the problem occurs as gravity causes the infant's head to fall to the side and forward as he moves, or with the movement of the car. His head moves to a position where it is completely unsupported, and sometimes to the outside of the carseat.it appears as if the baby'shead is just hanging freely in air while his chest is securely fastened.as a physical therapist, this is most distressing to observe, and certaintly unsafe.the baby does not have control of his neck to correct the mal-position.i have lost count of the number of times this has happened to my child despite repeated efforts to correct it. I have also had this problem using the seat in the peg perego aria stroller and alone on a level surface.i have contacted peg perego and they were of little assistance.their only suggestion was to have the seat installed by a trained installer, and while i am willing to do this, i do not believe it will correct the problem.it is distressing to spend a considerable amount of money on a car seat highly rated by consumer reports only to find that it has such as obvious and dangerous flaw.my fear is that a child will have to be severely injured for something to be done about this problem.i do not feel like it is safe to continue to use this seat, and i am not sure how else to address the problem.thank you for your help and consideration.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving, the child fell asleep in the child safety seat, and the head of the child tipped forward.the contact pulled the vehicle over, and put a blanket between the chin and shoulder of the child to prevent further movement.

Letter relative to potential safety concern associated with two child safety products manufactured and sold by peg perego.(car seat(s) and stroller) *ph the belts could be a hazard where they could possibly choke or severely injure the infant(s) if not installed properly.the consumer requested assistance from the manufacturer in reference to visual aids/and or written instructions for installation for the use of the belts.the child seats were for the consumers triplets.the consumer was informed by the hospital that the babies would not be able to use the car seat due to the them being premature and needing to be 7lbs to ensure that choking would not occur. *sc

I am a child passenger safety technician and i have a concern regarding a particular css. It is the peg perego primo viaggio, mfg. In 2004. I did recommend to the parent to have them contact the manufacturer, as well, regarding this cocern. There is a plastic cover around the harness adjust release mechanism that continues to come unsnapped from the shell, when adjusting the harness straps, while the css is attached to the base and installed in the vehicle. I did verify that the part is not broken. While this is not a dangerous defect, it could however, prevent or annoy the parent to the extent that they would not tighten the harness straps correctly each time they put the infant into the restraint.

We first noticed some loose screws in out toddler's car seat. We then realized that they had fallen out of the belt buckle of his car seat (peg perego primo viaggio sip 5-70). The buckle now only has 1 out of the 4 screws it originally had. This is both dangerous because the buckle is no longer safe, and because the screws could have been ingested by our toddler.

Peg perego primo viagio convertible car seat buckle screws were missing or loose.the buckle was coming apart on the side, resulting in a pinched finger. Upon further inspection, it was determined that two of four screws that held together the bottom buckle were missing and the other two were loose. I doubt that the buckle would have remained intact with any significant application of pressure. A child could also be injured by pinching a finger, being cut by a screw, or swallowing the screw.

I have a peg perego primo viaggio convertible seat manufactured in 2013.there is a rod that holds the shell to the base that backs out so that the shell is not longer fully attached.i called peg customer service some time ago and they told me it was missing a plug that should go on the end of the rod to hold it in.i accepted the replacement plug and installed it carefully aligning it so that it snapped on.i noticed while driving down the road the plug missing and the rod backed out again after a few months. I called peg customer service and they want to send me another plug, but insist it is safe.it isn't safe.it has fallen off twice now, two different plugs and i don't know when.if i were in a crash while it was missing i don't know if the seat would perform.if my children were to find it and put it in their mouth they could choke on it.this seat is defective.
