A client had come to me indicating that law enforcement was not able to get level of their peg perego primo viaggio [model impy03us35dx53 date mfctr 8-5-2016] accurate. Trying to obtain an accurate level according to the manufacturer instructions 4-11 lbs for newborns, oncecar seat carrier is placed intobase, angle of the child would not be 45-degrees but rather the child's hips level to the child's shoulders. Even without the stage-1 newborn insert the angle was not correct. We leveled the base and installed it so the child's back would be at 45-degrees. This was achieved. However the level indicator would read for 23-35lbs. I had observed a similar situation back in october 2016 after a parent informed me that they felt their newborn was not sitting properly. Based upon the photograph of the newborn it was clearly not correct. Again it was the level indicator reading incorrectly. Immediately during the october case i went to buy buy baby in torrance, california and happened to see another base wherecasing oflevel indicator was flat ontop of the base. This was different from the one the client had that was reading incorrectly. Whereas i noticed on one side the casing of the level was not flat but rather submerged on one side.we had contacted peg perego about this and talked with a cpst at the company which we confirmed. After sending her photos, she responded via email:"james, the 4/35 has been in productions since 2014 and we have not run into any concerns like this. I will await the response from sarah with the install of the car seat and base. The level maybe slightly off; however, it is "best practice" to ensure that the car seat is adjusted to ensure the little one is at the correct incline angle. In understanding the conversation earlier, i would suggest to complete the install so that the child is correctly positioned, withstage one installed properly and disregard the bubble."this does not correct....updated 04/20/17
