I can buckle daughter in fine but more and more frequently it is getting extremely hard to push button to get child out.took two of us several tries this last time. Started about 2 months ago maybe once a week and is increasing to several times a week now. This is dangerous if i ever need to get her out in a hurry.

Moved car seats today because i needed to get van ready to take on thanksgiving trip. I strapped my daughter into the smart seat while i was moving everything else around in the van. After i got done i went to get her out of the seat and couldn't get the crotch buckle to undo. I tried pushing every way possible. I called my husband and he came and tried to get her out. We loosened the straps and couldn't get her out (due to her disability she has extremely tight muscles and we couldn't get her maneuvered around enough to pull her out. (keep in mind she is at the highest harness height and the harness already is almost all the way loosened when she is in the seat correctly). I couldn't get the seat uninstalled because it is latched to a base, that is installed with a seat belt, that has an snap down belt guide inside it. I tried to uninstall the seat, to get to the "yolk" that holds the harness straps- but couldn't get to it. I called graco because i was not sure what to do.they told me to cut the straps on the seat, and that they would replace the seat. Unfortunately this leaves us without a seat, so i opted to go purchase a new one and they just refund me for the old one. Luckily i have an extra seat that my daughter can use until i purchase the new seat. I love the concept of the base for the smart seat, because then we don't have a bunch of seats installed in the trucks, only the base. But i am not sure i want to buy another smart seat. It means i have a bunch of bases that will not be used, but that lack of ability to get to the yolk has me concerned.buckle had previously been very difficult to unlatch, but was always able to get it unbuckled.

I was taking my grand daughter (24 months old) out of her smart seat? all-in-one car seat when i could not get the buckle to release. The buckle is gray with a red circle. I tried to press everywhere on the red circle to get her out. Impossible. Thank god we were not in a car accident as i might not have been able to get her out. We bought the car seat for 300.00 dollars and i cant believe she got stuck in her car seat. I can not contact graco as they are closed so i will have to call them tomorrow. This is beyond dangerous. We had to cut the straps to get her out.

In the graco smart seat i have an extremely difficult time getting the buckle to unlatch. Placing the belt locks into the buckle is not an issue but need to apply extreme force to push in the button to unlatch the medal pieces. This is a safety hazard. The latch system began with this issue around may 2013 and continues to worsen.

I have 2 graco smart seat car seats. In both cars my child can undo the chest clip. We took him to a safe kids car seat to make sure he was in the car seat correctly. He was i have called graco and i need to send back the car seats and i will get a refund. I talk to the safe kids manager in are area and she got a call from someone else with the same problem the chest clip on graco cars are to easy for kids 15 months up to undo.

I drive a 2004 toyota camry le, and have also tried installing in a 2001 buick lesabre with the same result. The only successful install was with a 1999 nissan altima.
