Graco car seats including extend to fit and 4ever push a childs head foward and could result in positional asphyxiation due to a childs head being pushed forward to its chest. Especially dangerous with infants.

Cpsc:the graco extend2fit convertible car seat is impossible to tighten now that i have turned it to forward facingfor my 2 year old. When she was rear facing i could grab the straps behind the seat and pull on them toeffectively tighten the straps but now that she is forward facing there isnt access to do this so pulling on thestrap between her legs is the only way to tighten the seat' straps. This tightens the straps to what i wouldestimate is 75% of what the tightness should be so she is not secure. *dt *dt

Getting a safe and secure install with this seats latch harness is next to impossible. I chose to use my seatbelt for a snug install. The safety harness holding my child is will also not tighten tight enough to pass the pinch test for a safe/snug fit. I was told this seat would get easier to tighten the longer i have it. I purchased this seat in june so 2016 and it is still just as hard as the first day to get a snug fit. Also, along with the harness issues, the way the seat is made, it is hard to get your child in a proper upright position. Without readjusting your child until perfect, it causes your child to slouch tremendously in this seat which also makes it unsafe in the event of a crash. The headrest insert causes your child's head to be pushed forward. The only safe way is to remove the headrest insert. But after doing so, you've eliminated a soft cushion for your child's head. This seat needs to be taken off the market.

I am a nationally certified car seat technician through safe kids worldwide. I bought the graco extend2fit for my 11 month old, and i received the product 11/3/2016. I immediately noticed that the harness was hard to tighten with the harness adjustment strap, but i could still get a safe fit for my child using all of my strength to tighten the harness. As of 11/14/2016, the harness is impossible to tighten by my husband and i unless the excess webbing is pulled through the back of the seat and then tightened by the harness strap. I have also noticedthat the harness bunches up behind the headrest requiring the user to press the release lever and start over. If using this seat forward facing, the user would obviously be unable to reach behind the car seat each time to achieve a safe fit. As i cannot get a safe fit for my child, i am returning this seat for a different brand and notifying graco.

When we installed the carseat, we noticed that we were unable to pull the shoulder straps tight enough to meet the safety recommendations (i.e. Tight enough in the shoulders that you cannot pinch any extra belt fabric). In order to pull the straps tight enough, we had to pull the harness straps from behind the car seat to make it tight around his chest and loosen enough slack to pull from the tightening strap. Otherwise, the tightening strap appeared to be stuck and would not pull any more past a certain point. This, we assumed, would go away with continued use.on friday july 22, 2016, we contacted graco regarding this issue because it did not seem to be getting better, and they indicated to us that they were aware of an issue where the straps bunch behind the headrest when the child is in the car seat and someone attempts to tighten the harness. Indeed, after they suggested that this was the issue, we pulled the headrest up above his shoulders, and we were able to tighten the straps, but this left the shoulder straps and head rest in an unsafe position for our sons size. They asked us to send a video of the issue, which we did, then they stopped communication with us over the weekend, without providing any further guidance or remedy for our predicament. They responded monday morning with more questions about the nature of the problem, but no solutions. Furthermore, they recommended we stop using the car seat.this suggests that the way we had been tightening the straps was likely insufficient.this means that we may have been strapping our child into a car seat that we thought was tight, but was actually not safe for him to be in. Furthermore, graco seemed to be aware of this issue with their car seat without issuing any kind of consumer notification. They should have addressed our concerns over the weekend, given the nature of the potential safety hazard.we registered the car seat with graco when we bought it, but they never communicated potential issues.

1. Bought the seat brand new and the first time i used it i couldn't tighten the harness it on my daughter properly.2. It cannot be tightened every time i use it unless i'm pulling the straps at the back of the seat and feeding it through the locking mechanism. I'm pulling as hard as i physically can on the adjuster strap.3. Graco is replacing the seat after i send them back the defective one.

Harness will not tighten correctly. Straps are not twisted, and are properly routed. Straps will not tighten to pass pinch test when car seat is installed rear facing. If the straps are not properly tightened it could cause ejection or injury. Graco is offering to replace the car seat after providing videos, photos, reciept, etc.

Purchased on 1/25/2016. My son's graco extend2fit has always been hard to tighten the harness once he is in it. But it has now become impossible unless i pull the slack from the back of the car seat and then pull the adjuster strap in the front. This happens every time i put my son in his car seat and tighten the harness.i sent graco a email with a included video showing that it is indeed impossible to tighten with my son in the car seat. They are replacing my son's graco extend2fit.
